Most people consider DVDs to be good enough, they sell more now than they ever have, and they cost a lot less than Blu-rays. People love that you can buy a DVD for like, 5 bucks.

Every time someone complains about one of the many Prime exclusives, I remember that there's people who use Amazon without Prime, and I can't even imagine that experience.

Whisper of the Heart is one of the best ones, but it often gets overlooked (maybe because it wasn't directed by Miyazaki and people tend to focus on him). The fantasy element is much lower than usual, though, if that's what you're looking for.

Amazon has all of their major releases as mp3 and CD, for pretty decent prices.

There's no such thing as a perfect emulator. Sound, especially, can be troublesome on a lot of games. For the average person, sure, emulators will scratch the retro itch just fine. But some people want the perfect unaltered experience, and original hardware is the only way to get it.

From a preservation perspective, I think the more games that get re-released at higher resolutions and frame rates, the better. However, unlike movies, it really seems like the remasters are coming out in place of new games. Movie releases didn't slow to a crawl waiting for The Godfather on Blu-ray.

I like how Wombat talks everyone's ears off about playing the second-greatest hits of 2013 with his kids, but when someone wants to talk about something new and unique like Elite, he makes a big show of how much he's tuning out of the conversation. Sometimes he even literally gets up and walks...

If it's any consolation, the last hurrah rewards are going to be BS, too.

I can't even sell mine on Amazon, because there's a million copies sitting there for like $3 and it isn't worth the effort.
