This is one of the stranger arguments i've heard in a while. I think asking if there is a way to get the coupons without buying the magazine is perfectly legit. Coupons are not something one typically has to pay for. They arrive in the mail, print out from a prior purchase, or are downloaded...

This isn't necessarily a scammer. I also owned one on this same date, because they were selling the book at the IndieCade festival in LA. I bought one, and had it signed on October 6th. There are other ways to get products sometimes besides just having them shipped.
