seriously, it's ridiculous. i went for the f-zero guide, but all these others were also a penny. i only found out though cuz when the guy saw me with 4 guides for 4 cents, he grabbed a copy of each guide to check em. so have someone help ya go through the guides.

Mine (I think) started pulling them all and jut releasing a few at a time for the .01. I go in and see Manhunt then go in a week later and see a .01 Sims guide which wasnt there the week before.

I doubt someone returned it for .01 if they even allow returns.

It's the same at my Best Buy. They had a ton of Manhunt guides, then all the sudden they had none, and now they're starting to pop up again. Maybe they don't want people hoarding.

this is not the sort of post i would have expected to generate so much interest, but it seems to rival the stickies. maybe it should just be started again as a sticky.
on a side note, i've stopped buying penny strat guides for games i don't have. i don't have the room for all of them anymore.

Same thing at the Best Buy I go to. I was told that these guides were sent back to the manufacutor but apparently some of them didn't make the trip.

Another place you might want to try for finding .01 guides is Toys R Us. The one next to me always have some good .01 guides. When I asked about them, the dude at the register said it was just to clean out inventory or overstock. Sometimes you can actaully find some good stuff.

I had Toys R Us scan the old guides for The Sims and Splinter Cell. Still full price. They didn't have any of the ones listed on this thread either, so I really struck out.

I can't believe no one posted this. Counter Strike, NFL Fever 2004, Indiana Jones, Madden 2003, Unreal Championship, and Dead to Rights are all a penny at TRU. Took place a few days ago.

Also, as a side note all the free giveaway items at TRU are being clearanced too. Most were priced at extremely high prices before now(the Zelda disc had a $69.99 retail). Both Zelda Bonus Discs are $9.98, t-shirts are mostly $2.98(turtles, sphinx, mortal kombat), tony hawk lithograph is $2.98, and lots more. Many stores won't have this in stock, but they will be getting more of some of it this week as the warehouses are overflowing with it(except the Zelda discs, whats in store now is all they have).

appreciate it. I got another copy of both Zelda discs and some DC games. All the penny guides that just went penny were marked. The Nintendo Gamecube demo disc was also .98 cents

also does anyone have the Shpinx shirt? I would have picked one up for my dad to work in for that price but it felt crummy(probably needed to be washed)

TRU in fort wayne indiana is empty. ahh well. a few weeks ago they had tons of junk and now all the magazines are all organized. If a cag'er that got them is reading this please post so. I just want to know if there is an employee that happens to claim them so i dont drive up there for nothing. if so ok just please let us know. also let us know if you willing to trade or share. thank you very much

they had rachect and clank going comando demo for 98 cents and spinx demo for 4.98. some weird tony hawk poster like things 2.98
for these guides, did it say $0.01 on the tag or did u ppl just scan them randomly?

thanks in advance! :)
I've never seen one marked a penny. They've all had a $14.99 price tag on them, and even say $14.99 on the shelf tag.

Mine took time to mark them. Very suprising since all their DC games are horribly mis priced

every guide and every game was marked from the recent drop

You have to scan them . . . also, different stores have somewhat different prices.

There are 4 Best Buys in the Milwaukee WI area and one in Racine--where I live. I've been in 3 of the Milw. ones and my local.

Of course, the selection varied. But also, some that were a penny in one store were full price elsewhere.

No store had them marked as .01 . . . but 2 years ago I did see them marked . . . when they had price tags they flew off the shelf.

i went to my local best buy and its changed...all the sudden most of the people seem a**holish and theres no ps2 games left, just an entire section two rack section of preorder games.

and even on top of that, i was pissed that i finally earned enough to get return of the king for 27 (taxes included) from best buy and went back two days later and they hiked the price back up too 39.99, they wouldnt even match targets 29.99.

probably isnt. They were probably just hoping FF X 2 was a one cent guide.

checked rachet and clank going comando, sonic heros and socom II. All still 14.99 at best buy. just letting you all know so you dont waste your time checking those.

good hunting.

These are now a penny at TRU. GBA Zelda Four Swords, PS2 Getaway, PS2 Dark Cloud 2, PS2 Yu-gi-oh Duelist of the Roses, Mission Impossible, and Sphinx. They just dropped and many stores still have plenty of them so they shouldn't be too hard to find.

Just got back from Circuit City and I got:

The Ultimate Halo Companion DVD Set w/ Brute Force Betrayals [XBOX] (5x)
F-Zero GX [NGC] (2x)
Donkey Kong Country [GBA] (2x)

Total: $0.09

Customer service sucked. She said she couldn't sell them for $0.01, but she asked her manager, and he said, "If it rings up for a penny, then sell it for a penny." Those were only for the guides. I went back to get the Halo Companion DVD Set w/ Brute Froce Betrayals and went to the cashier. The poor empolyee took 5 minutes to find out the price of the The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition stradegy guide only to come to the price of $14.95. I felt sorry for her, but I still didn't buy it. :p

I brought the F-Zero guide to the cashier at Circuit City the other night. When it scanned at a penny he said something seemed wrong so he got his manager. The manager said that it is scanning wrong and that the price is actually $14.99. I said maybe they were price matching Best Buy since it sells for a penny there as well. I got a blank stare. So, I just went down the road to Best Buy and picked it up there.

What's weird at Best Buy is that some of the older guides still ring up regular price (this may have been mentioned before). For example, I brought up the Versus Books guides for Maximo and Super Mario Advance (yeah, the games that came out 2-3 years ago) and they still scanned at $14.99 :?

thanks for the info on the Zelda guide. I have been waiting on that one to drop

WHY Spend $14.99 for GUIDE instead pickup a game instead ;)

Also, Gamestop have alot Guide for $1.99 - $2.99 :)
If you read my post correctly, you would of read that I didn't get it after it ringed up for $14.95.

Anyone know if the Pokemon guides are a penny now? I saw 2 on the shelf, but I was in a rush so I didn't have time to do a price check. I may go back if I get a heads up on the price.

I just came back from my local EB. There was a huge stack of guides on the counter, so I asked the guy if they were marking them down or just moving them. He said they were going to throw them away, and if I wanted any they were just .01. I grabbed everything that interested me, but there were more. Here's what I got:

Onimusha 2 (Prima guide w/ exclusive EB cover)
Hunter The Reckoning: Wayward
Hunter The Reckoning: Redeemer
P.N.03
Wario World
Sonic Advance 2
Pokemon Gold, Silver & Crystal Pokedex
Auto Modellista (and I just snagged the game for about $6 a week or so ago! :))
Megaman Zero 2
Megaman X7
Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance
Legaia 2: Duel Saga
Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg
I-Ninja
and the one I'm most proud of, Skies of Arcadia Legends

Glad my friend asked me to go w/ him, or I would have missed out!
