where shopping will cost you an arm and a leg lol. i loved that movie its horrible but in a good way. man i need to get my hands on the puppet master series the first 3 are classics.
Hell yeah! I'm glad some of you guys know Chopping Mall. Such a fun flick.
I nearly flipped my lid when they finally put the Puppet Master series on DVD. 2 is still my favorite. Torch was awesome.
The last scene in May is phenomenal.
And I agree, Splinter was surprisingly awesome. Low budget but really well done.
Anyone ever seen Motel Hell? That's a fun (if not actually good) one.
May was amazing. Splinter had a strong concept but the husband nearly ruined it for me. Too many typical horror movie mistakes. I wish they did the original screenplay, it was much smarter and overall would have been a better film. I still like it, it just could have been better.
I love Motel Hell. If you or anyone else here is interested, for the past year or so I've been doing a weekly show where I focus on lesser known movies from the 70s-90s and talk a little about the movie's history and such. I usually do horror movies but I branch out into other genres like sci-fi, action and comedy. Anyway, this past week I did Motel Hell. I throw in a few jokes here and there to keep things interesting. The episodes usually run like 7-10 minutes.
Ok, plug over. If you want check it out. It's called Good Bad Flicks.
Return of the Living Dead is necessary god damn viewing, folks.
After that I'd go for the ol' John Carpenter The Thing/Prince of Darkness/In the Mouth of Madness. The Thing is the best known of the bunch, but has probably aged the worst and is ultimately the least scary. Prince of Darkness has some pretty weak damn protagonists, but makes up for it in other ways. Mouth of Madness is just plain badass.
Return of the Living Dead is one of the all time best zombie flicks. Still holds up. Hell yes Linnea Quigley.
The Thing not scary? Gotta disagree with you on that one.
No way! I still love that movie and the effects still look great. I'll take that over CG any day.
Amen. Tom Savini, Stan Winston and Phil Tippett all have done amazing make up and FX that put CGI to shame.
ive been thinking about seeing splice since it came out but wasnt sure if itd be worth it but from what you described it may be worth a view. but avoid human centipede its complete shit and not worth seeing. aside from some chick nudity theres nothing worth seeing there.
I have Splice but haven't watched it yet. I have to disagree with you on Human Centipede, I thought it was fascinating. Look beyond all the hype and it is an original and disturbing movie. The movie was not about the gore, of which there was very little. It relied more on the concept being so far out there that a you couldn't feel anything but sympathy for these poor folks that were stuck in a situation beyond anyone's worst nightmare. The doctor was outstanding and really helped to "sell" it...for me at least.
