12/10-12/24: PSVR GT Bundle $200 Skyrim Bundle $350 Doom Bundle $300

CAGiversary!
https://uploadvr.com/psvr-gran-turismo-sport-drops-200-next-week/

Not sure if this is legit, but if true...this is a great deal if you have been waiting on great price for the PSVR. The downside to this is that it has the old model headset, which is probably the reason why of the price cut. I will be waiting for a bundle with this price tag with the newer model headset. Hopefully a price drop for the Skyrim Bundle to $300 would be nice.

Update: It's true https://www.playstation.com/en-us/campaigns/2017/holiday-deals/?smcid=pssocial:blog:hardware:tis_the_season_to_play_new_december_deals_for_ps4_pro_and_playstation_vr_systems:12_6_17/

I red the differences, but still unaware if I'm able to use HDR and 4K with the old model (V1) of the PSVR, the one that's in the GT sports bundle.

Anyone knows?

I'm sure you could sell the Skyrim game on here to offset the price. Also, the gt bundle is 200. You then have to buy the move controllers. There's a hundred. You now at 300. If you sell the game for 25 profit your paying an extra 25 for the new model. The integrated headphones is nice. Neater wire setup and new breakout box and although you have no desire fir HDR, something unforseen may develop. Or you decide to sell it. Newer model probably would be more desirable I'm thinking.

Just some thoughts.
So I pretty much only go to the video game deal forum on CAG. Is there a place to buy/sell/trade games on CAG? Is it scam-city or kinda legit?

V1 of PSVR does not have HDR passthrough. If you’re using PSVR with V1, the TV won’t be able to display HDR.

V2 adds the function, so HDR on the TV does work with PSVR V2

i know there are a few games where people interact with the ps vr user, but it just seems bizarre to me that this is that big of a deal to people.

I don't think you quite understand. If you have V1 connected, you don't get any HDR when you're playing regular PS4 games. You have to use a splitter or swap wires. Both of which are very annoying.

Meaning if I was playing RE7 VR, and now I want to play Horizon: Zero Dawn I have to go through a whole process, to do so with V1.

The issue is not no HDR in PSVR games that use the TV screen for functionality, the issue is no HDR period for your PS4. PSVR sits in the middle between your PS4 and your TV. As long as version 1 is plugged in, you won't be able to get HDR in Uncharted 4 or Horizon, for example. If you want to regain HDR functionality, you need to remove PSVR from the middle and reattach the HDMI cables directly from the PS4 to the TV. Then when you want to use PSVR, you need to plug it back in again.

oh, ok, I thought it was just while using the VR that the hdr wouldnt work. I wouldnt know about the HDR since my "hdr enabled" tv is some made up version of hdr that isnt compatible with anything but the built in tv apps.

Yes. There is a sub forum for trading. As long as your trading with someone who is active, good feedback etc it's pretty safe. Always a risk in anything but I've never had an issue. If you click on the user name, you can see feedback.

You mean like after the timed exclusive v2 bundles end with Bethesda...
which is exactly what I was saying.
I bet the GT Sport bundle is Sony’s way to get all their stock of V1 gone. Betting when they run out of V1’s the GT Sport bundle will also be discontinued and there will be a new bundle, with the v2.
And from the article dated nov 25thUhhh that’s after the skyrim bundle launched, and the article says there is still no release date... I wouldn’t trust much of what they say.
There will be no official release date as I said in my previous post, this will help sell the GT bundle v1 at a higher rate by keeping it silent. I do think that when they run out of the GT bundle...they will discontinue it. But that's already predetermined when Sony already said that the v1 is discontinued.

Crap, $199 not bad to try VR but I have a nice TV w HDR l, Pro, and GT Sport already. I know I could sell the game but no HDR w/o swapping cables is a bit of a deal breaker and I’m not about to spend $300 on it. Do you even need the move controllers? Anyone? Thanks.

The standalone V2 has been out since October in Japan it's possible that V2 is already on the shelves, you just have to check and make sure that its model# CUH-ZVR2

Thats not what you said... You said it's possible that it's *already* on shelves...

I was simply pointing out that there are only 3 bundles now, GT Sport (v1), Doom and Skyrim (v2) and all other PSVR bundles/etc appear to have been discontinued.

But again, it's Sony.. who has been kinda asleep at the wheel the past month in the US.

Depends on the game, the games i've played that have been super involved and fun... are move or aim controller games.

The free VR Playroom with the robots is kinda fun and uses the DS4 only.

Bottom line, you will want the move controllers at some point.

***

From what I have read, old PS3 move controllers you may already own do work with the PSVR since the PS3 move controllers are the ones that came with the V1 PSVR headset, the Nav controller will only sync and work on the PS4, once inside a game/app it will not work. which sucks.

the PS3 move and PS4 move differences are just the USB port and the button color/shade (glossy vs matte) really, and the "X" has a little bump on it. Pretty sure it's the same internals. PSVR move also doesn't have the "ext" connection.

Yes, all I am saying is that it's possible that it's already on the shelves, I didn't say I'm 100% sure, but I know it will happen sooner than later.

i want one but i have the samsung odyssey for the desktop, is that a different vr or the one i have is good enough to try vr?

So for overall usage (games, movies, hell even porn) it's better to get the V2 for a difference of $100?
My opinion is not with $100 difference, especially if you don't have HDR TV and content to watch. The lens and visual hardware are the same.

Then it's whether to pay $80 for not switching cables or using HDMI switches, $20 for easier access earplug and volume control and thinner cable.
Still $100 difference is something.

Thanks mate.
Edit: oh and by the way, I have a "normal" PS4 so it seems that this is a really good option for me.

I jumped on the sale on newegg for $199 for the gt bundle.  I almost got the stand alone during black friday,  glade i waited.  I dont need HDR passthrough because id never leave the mess of cables hooked up that is PS VR anyway. New model is still very bulky with the processor box and cables might as well get there clearanced model while i still can.  Now to find me some cheap used move controllers for until dawn.  Also anyone know the trade in value of gran turismo sport?

PSVR gran Turismo Sport bundle jumped from 136th spot to 25th in a few hours at Amazon, feel that this bundle MAYBE will be sold out soon, for $199 even if it's the V1. It's a stealth.

I have read through the thread and hope to help with some questions. Here are the different bundles:

Core v1 Headset - $199 comes with headset and camera only

Launch Bundle with VR Worlds - $349 comes with v1 PSVR, 2 move controllers, camera, and VR Worlds

Gran Turismo Bundle - $199($249 at Best Buy) comes with v1 PSVR, camera, and Gran Turismo (no move controllers)

Doom Bundle - $299 comes with v2 PSVR, camera, & Doom game (no move controllers)

Skyrim Bundle - $349 comes with v2 PSVR, camera, move controllers, and Skyrim game

If you don't have a HDR TV and don't plan on buying a HDR TV, v1 is fine for you. The advantage to getting v2 for you would be less cable management, integrated 3.5 mm audio jack into the headset, and easy storage for ear buds.

If you have a HDR TV getting v2 is a no brainer. Gen 1 does not allow for HDR passthrough. Unless you want to keep flipping cables, get either the Doom or Skyrim bundle.

Biggest difference between v1 and v2 are:

HDR Passthrough

Much lighter and thinner cable

Audio controller that was on the main cable was moved to the headset (you change the sound under the visor)

3.5 mm headphone jack on the back of the headset

The cable that comes off the headset does not have an adaptor to get to 12 feet. It is all one cable

Slightly less padding on the headset cause the headset is lighter due to no thick cable pulling

New move controllers have micro-usb(same port as dualshock 4) instead of mini-usb

Button to adjust the visor was moved from under the visor to the top of it

If you go into VR thinking you are going to get 4k graphics and that is what you want, don't get it. Know that the graphics are similar to last gen. What makes VR so much fun is the immersion. You lose yourself in the game. Best gaming experience I have ever had. If you compare graphics from Farpoint to Horizon Zero Dawn, there is not even a comparison. From a fun factor, both have their place in the gaming world.

Anyone know if VR is safe for little kids, I want to let my 5 year old try it with me around.
My 4 year old boy and 11 year old girl love playing the Oculus Rift. Recroom is their favorite (free on psn), but they have tried many different titles. No issues as of yet......except for running into things occasionally.

Newegg had the bundle for $199 already? I checked the site and they have it for $280 now. Was it a quick sale or something?

I ended up having Best Buy PM Amazon for the GT bundle.  No idea why they still have it only 50 off.  I was hoping the price would be corrected by this morning. I get to pick it up on the way home tho  :D/

This week they have console + vr bundled discount, might be they think $50 on GT bundle is enough, or they want to sell other bundles

I’ve always heard not safe for under 11. Found this too...

“The Oculus Rift and Samsung's Gear VR headsets are recommended for ages 13+, while Sony's recommendation for its PlayStation VR is ages 12 and up. HTC's Vive is not designed for children, according to the company, and HTC said young children shouldn't be allowed to use the headset at all.”

The Move controller two-pack is on sale this week for $80 at Best Buy and Amazon, for anyone considering the $200 GT Sport bundle.  So $70 price difference between (GT Sport bundle + Moves) and the $350 Skyrim bundle if you're okay with version 1 headset and the older PS3 model Move controllers.

I'm not a scientist, nor do I play one on TV/Radio/Movies. And I don't have kids, I have a dog.

But reading this real quick... I kinda understand the confusion about the age limit etc.

https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/are-virtual-reality-headsets-safe-for-children/

Read it, decide for yourselves. I'm not going to leave my opinion on the subject.
I played VR when I was under 12 and I turned out just fine.

With GS coupons, I could get this for $110. Sounds good, but then this thing is like the Switch 2.0 where you pretty much have to buy extra accessories to get the best experience. There's no reason these accessories should be in excess of $60.

Google express has this for $199 via Frys. There's a promo for $15 off $55 which somewhat helps offset tax, plus amex card has spend $50 get $20 back at google express (YMMV). Not a bad deal for V1. I have a 4k tv but don't think I'll be using the VR much so I don't think I want to spend over $300 for the doom bundle. Thinking of getting this.

Edit: letsbuy20 promo takes $30 off which is better than the default promo on their site (first time buyers only?). Even better deal. I'm in

Probably because they'll sell out quickly.

Can anyone else confirm that it's listed for $299 in store?
Price tags saying Skyrim psvr with the correct item code on the price tag is printed as $299 but it rings up for the correct 349. Electronics guy walked me over to guest service where they honored the price and took the price tag off. The other poster was saying you had to be the first because since it’s a price mistake, they pull th incorrect tag after the first person.

Yes sorry i wasnt more clear but i was literally at the register when i posted it and the manager was already freaking out and made the poor electronics guy check EVERY sale tag in the department because of it. I wanted to explain that this was the only one and its company wide but i just shut up as i didnt want to ruin my deal

Went to Target and had them price match so the GT bundle was $201 instead of $255 (with Red Card) :)
Help me understand something, the PSVR GT Sport bundle is $200, now on sale. Why was there a PM? You should've gotten it $200-5% = $190 then plus tax
