So that's almost a dollar a gigabyte (finally).

http://www.buy.com/prod/xbox-360-12...e-for-xbox-360-120gb/q/loc/108/204356451.html

That's the best deal I've seen that's not from a shady ebay seller or Circuit City when they were clearing them out last year.

Should I bite?:whistle2:k
And this does come with the transfer kit right?

EDIT: I bit.

Also like to add that the Red Wireless Controller and Charge Kit are on sale for $41.99. I own one and it's a nice color along with the black accents. http://www.buy.com/prod/xbox-360-li...ncludes-red-wireless/q/loc/108/208455011.html
That's not entirely true. You can buy a Western Digital BEVS 120 GB harddrive and mod it to work with the 360. That's what I did and it cost me $40.

Sure, there's a tiny chance MS bans these harddrives but at $40 it was worth the risk to me. I could always go back to using it as external 2.5 drive as well if MS banned it.
And for me it's totally not worth that risk at all.
Still not good enough, I got 5 gigs left on my 20 gig drive.
So does mine, but I'm tired of listening to my 360 sound like it's going into labor every time I play an intensive game. I'm very much looking forward to being able to install everything.

It is really not that hard to buy an internal hard drive and then buy an enclosure. Then you just connect like 2 wire. After that you connect it to your computer and just format it as FAT32. Then just connect to your Xbox and BAM you see your drive. How does that make your xbox a brick?

What are the chances of MS banning you ifthey find out you have a modded Hard drive?

Miniscule. No one has been banned for it yet. Also, keep in mind, your console has not been altered at all so that wouldn't be banned. Just the harddrive and probably your Xbox Live account. This isn't about piracy like the DVD firmware flashers do. This is just about not getting raped by MS on this peripheral.

Yeah but Microsoft is constantly going through and changing policies and banning people for various things. There's no reason that they could NOT tell that you've modified the HD. Personally, I don't want my account banned, and even a minuscule risk isn't worth it for saving $30. At the end of the day I sell my old HD, sell the transfer cable, and the 120g costs me $80 to $90 all told. That sucks when they're $30 or so cheaper, but it'd suck a lot more than $30 worth of suck to lose my account.

So I'm wondering...I have two 60 gig hard drives...do I really need a 120, if only for the slight convenience of not having to switch out hard drives, which admittedly isn't that much of a hassle really? Thoughts?

Has anyone's order shipped yet? I placed my order on the 19th and my order still says "Processing"

I have never used Buy.com before but this seems rather slow. I also pre-ordred a SF4 Madcatz fightpad on the same order, I hope that isn't causing a problem.

Mine is supposed to be here tomorrow! I picked the free budget, and it shipped right away. In my experience they have been painfully slow, don't know what happened this time.

Yeah, same here. Mine shipped last week about a day after I placed the order. Hopefully the order goes through for you, kodt.

You fail to mention the part where you need to steal a file key from a real Xbox 360 120gb drive so that your replacement will work the same as a real 360 HD; not just a music/movie storage device.

Agreed. Basically the same logic I thought which convinced me to buy this.

My order came in this morning but I did the $2.99 2nd day shipping. I probably would have received it on Saturday but there was a billing issue.

I got my drive today, did the transfer, and listed my old HD on Amazon and got $35 for it after expenses (it sold in 20 minutes) and then put the data transfer cable on eBay and got $35 after expenses (sold in 10 minutes). So all told, the $120 120gb drive only cost me $50. So modding one would have saved me pretty much nothing, and I didn't have to risk my account getting banned. :bouncy:

Same thing with me did it on Saturday and still processing. Hopefully ships tomorrow morning so I can start installing games over the weekend. (and hopefully get braid before the sale ends)

Where did you get that information from? I'm not positive but I believe you can use the key from your old 20GB drive you are replacing.

just wanted to add how friggin SWEET playing HDD games is. load times are much faster for some games, some play smoother, and the thing is freakishly whisper quiet. My DVD drive has been acting up, so as long as I can get through installs, I'm gonna do that for each game to save the it's lifespan.

Damn. That sounds great, Charles. Gonna have to sell both my hard drive and transfer kit to offset some of this cost, as well.

Anyone had any problems with transferring the data? I heard Rainbow Six Vegas saves can't be transferred & afraid that might stop or mess up the transfer.
Anyone had any problems with transferring the data? I heard Rainbow Six Vegas saves can't be transferred & afraid that might stop or mess up the transfer.
The only thing I know of that didn't transfer over was what was in my original XBox cache for xBox originals. Call of the Cthulhu had to do a reinstall once I started it, but my save was fine. I haven't tested all of my saves, but so far they all look good.

On my transfer, it said some files were corrupted, however, it didn't say which ones. I have been going back thru them, but haven't found a bad file (yet).

Transferring now, FedEx came back!

~40 Minutes. Already fudged up..I meant to copy my Golden Guns from HDD to MU just in case. Some people have reported that for some unknown reasons the Gears 2 golden guns don't always transfer.

I got this too.
On my transfer, it said some files were corrupted, however, it didn't say which ones. I have been going back thru them, but haven't found a bad file (yet).
But you won't find them: "Some files on the original were corrupt and could not be transferred. These files were erased from the original and not moved to the new."

Hope they weren't anything of importance to you or myself.
Good deal, but if you purchase it you are part of the problem. I could go into details, but I'm sure what I would say has already been said.
can't agree more. i refuse to buy the wifi adapter too.
Are you a current 360 owner?

Don't get me wrong, you make a valid point. But it's hard for me to respect your opinion unless you are actually a 360 owner.

Otherwise, making such a blunt point here gives the appearance that you are just here to pick a fight.:argue::boxing:
who cares . . . . his point is completely valid no matter what he has

Yeah, mine said that too, but I assumed it was the Call of Cthulhu cache that didn't make it over. I haven't seen anything else that didn't make it. I wonder if anyone has transferred and did NOT get that error?

Order still has not shipped, tomorrow it will be a full week without any update to the order status. I sent an e-mail to their customer support and they sent a generic response saying it may take 2 or 3 days. I guess they don't even bother to read my e-mail or look at the order date.
Hope they weren't anything of importance to you or myself.
Yeah, I hope so too.

I think that MS could have put a button that would show more information on the error. But I guess that most of us are morons and shouldn't be told, so saving them an angry call.

I just bit. I forgot that I have ordered something from this place before so I missed out on the sweet 5 dollars off. I did attempt to downgrade to the free shipping and buy.com tempted me to 2 day shipping for a very reasonable $2.99. Therefore, anyone else going for the HDD upgrade should at least pretend like they are going to go for the free shipping before selecting 2 day shipping.

The free shipping only took 2-3 business days to get to me.

Nice. I hope I have such luck with the 2 day, because I'm sick of playing games from the disk :bouncy:

Today I got the HD and my repaired 360 in! I just finished the transfer and also got the error. Right now I'm going to check it, but it better not have deleted any save files from long or difficult games such as Fallout 3 or Ninja Gaiden II. I'll be pissed!
