Select Online
Start chat with a B.B. rep.

Great, lets do everything we can to bankrupt the best retailer for buying video games quicker. Bestbuy has been good to us so why exploit this? Its clearly shady and not a true deal.

1.) Put on leftover pirate costume from Halloween.
2.) Walk into Best Buy
3.) Say Yar to Loss Prevention Associate
4.) Pick up PS4
5.) Walk towards door
6.) Run past loss prevention Associate while yelling "This shall be the day when ye almost caught captain Jack Sparrow"
7.) If pursued fire cannon you attached to vehicle prior to arrival.

Like I said, YMMV, but if your in the market for a $0 PS4, it's a good deal.

I wouldn't exactly say "YMMV", it's more like "how bad can I con a chat rep to get what I want?". This is some seriously shady shit, and this Slick Deals type stuff is why retailers restrict policies for all the people that use them legitimately. People complain all the time when they try to Price Match and it takes a while, or some skeptical employee won't do it or is really hesitant and has to get a manager involved. "Deals" like this are why, because there are people out there that are trying to game the system so the system has to change to defend against them.

As best I can tell the deal is this:

Find some Zip Code where Walmart erroneously priced an out of stock XB1X/PS4 way down.

Convince a Best Buy chat rep to price match it and give you an order page for store pickup near that zip code.

Order it, then change the store pickup to your store.

Go pick it up at your store.

There are at least 3 things wrong with that, and the "deal" is to get past each one through a rep that is either too busy or doesn't care enough to raise flags, then argue him down if he does.

When we lose bestbuy, the true deals end. Exploiting their great price matching policy, why not try target or amazon, because it wont work. Things like gcu will never return. I hope your 149.99 ps4 and 199.99 x1x are worth it.
 
Considering how much Best Buy sucks, I hope some people actually were able to pull off this deal. It'll be the first actual "best" buy that store had in ages.

I’m seeing Best Buy drop their price match policy because of stuff like this. GS has already destroyed deals because of people going apeshit with stuff, let’s not kill Best Buy too. I’d be left with only Amazon and Target...🤦‍♂️
 
I live about 30min from this Walmart in Holly Springs. They had an Xbox One S Battlefield 1 bundle for $150 with in-store pickup so I ordered it. About an hour later they called me saying they didn't have said console in stock but offered the "Ultimate Halo" 500GB bundle in it's place. Not aiming this specifically at you, but CAGs c'mon - don't be a hypocrite and think that BestBuy price glitches are perfectly fair game, but this somehow crosses a line.

I mean yeah of course it kind of does - I didn't do it cause I'm not gonna do this shit.

But I did buy some glitched games and still don't feel bad about that at all.

And you know those glitches do way more damage then the 5 people who successfully get this to work.

And hey they're both ways to save money and be cheap getting gaming stuff.

CAGs are CAGs, it ain't all pretty to see and / or beneficial to big corporations around here.

whats up with that Walmart? I got some xbox one Xs Tuesday for $120 net after PM to Best Buy with a free $50 GC AND a copy of PUBG because they had them marked at $200. Same Walmart. The guy doing the pricing there about to quit go postal or something and just putting ridiculous prices on things?

As far as this deal, would be extreme YMMV because the BB price matching doesn't work if it says "limited stock" with 99% of the reps

If people really have a problem with this that’s fine. And if “we” (by that I mean mods or whoever decides it) don’t want these types of “deals” posted that’s fine too.

But I’m confused by what should and shouldn’t be posted. I don’t see (morally) how this is any different than buying a price glitched item. Semantics and all, at the end of the day you’re making a purchase that wasn’t intended by the retailer. And I’ve never seen a single complaint about price glitches or even price matching “methods” until now.

Well, with glitched prices, you aren't really actively scamming the store to take advantage of it. You are buying it for their stated price. If they set that too low, then ok. If they rescind the order, that is also their prerogative due to every store states they can do that. I'm also on the boat that people shouldn't get upset on cancelled orders over this.

But in this case, you are taking advantage of Walmart's borked up price where pretty much all the stores that list it don't actually have it, then you are gaming a Best Buy rep to price match it even though a) it probably isn't in stock at Walmart at any store with that price (nor is it their storeide price for it, just those locations) then b) not price matching a local competitor because people are switching the pick up store to somewhere far away from the price match after placing the order. And all of this depends on getting a careless rep to make it happen, as many that have gotten it to work had to go through several reps before they got one to do it.

That's the difference, one is just ordering it through standard means, the other requires active manipulation to make it happen. Slickdeals is full of people that pull this crap all the time (and squeeze it to the absolute limit), and the reason why store policies become less and less consumer friendly over time. CAG is for people just looking for a good, honest deal.

So if an individual from website development messes up by posting an unadvertised "glitch deal" (that's unintended and often unhonored) it's A-OK? But if an individual from customer service messes up by price matching something they shouldn't it's not? Again, the customer (or the CAGER if you prefer) benefits from a lower price that they otherwise would not have enjoyed. It's all the same to me.

I'm not calling anyone out for trying to get the best price possible on an otherwise unaffordable (or difficult to) hobby. But whether it's a price glitch, price matching, or something else it's all grey area. "A good honest deal" isn't how I would describe any of this. But I'm also not saying to not do it either.

Now if you personally don't take advantage of any of these, that's fine. That's your choice and if you feel that is the best way to conduct yourself more power to you. But, at least to me, the reactions in this thread are extremely surprising. Not wrong (or necessarily right), just surprising.

No it isn't, and you know the difference. If I go to Best Buy's site and pull up an item and the price is lower than I expect, am I cheating the system? Am I taking an action to cheat the system? Or am I just making a purchase? You don't have to have any knowledge of a glitched price or take any additional actions to take advantage of that. And the store can still cancel the sale if they choose to.

Geez, people will go to such lengths to try and justify cheating. Why don't we just use this same example as if we were in store then.

Price glitch - I walk into a store pick up and item and take it up to the register. It rings up low, but I pay my money and walk out of the store. Is there ANY store manager that would kick you out over that sort of thing? What am I cheating by picking up an item, letting it be rung up with no input from me and paying the price they tell me to pay?

This "Deal" - I walk into the store, take it up front and ask for a price match. I pull up the price at a Walmart in BumfuckEgypt that is clearly WAY below the right price and the employee says "Hey man I can't do that". So you take the item and walk to a different register, get denied there too. And so on until you get a stoner clerk that goes "fuck it" and rings it up. The manager watched you do this, is he likely to kick you out of the store (and probably fire the clerk that let you do it)? Even if you didn't clerk shop (which people are clearly doing with this), the store manager would probably not be happy with you trying to pull this off.

If a "deal" would probably get you banned from the store if the manager sees you do it, there is a good chance you are doing something sketchy.

 
As someone who did this to get an XB1X for $350 on Tuesday, I did so expecting not to get it and I wasn't going to complain if they didn't make it happen. All they had to do was actually click in the link that said $350 to be brought to the page that said $499. Why they didn't do that is on them and nothing that will truly change their policy other than possibly them saying they have to make sure it's their online price vs local store markdowns.

Which they should have already been doing.
 
I figure I might as well weigh in. Seeing as I got called out for 'fraud' earlier this year on a Target merging of 2 DCPIs into 1 (Halo Wars 2). I, too, fired back on the hypocrisy I observed within these walls.

So, Bravo! to those who pushed back. We circle like vultures over price glitches (that we KNOW aren't right, but partake in anyways) yet if there's another gray area, that one's not okay? The fuck?

Bestbuy will have to change how they price match competitors since we cant help ourselves. I dont know why they dont pay someone to monitor sites like these, especially con deals, they would save a fortune.
 
Buying games that have a price glitch at Best Buy isn't "just walking into a store and seeing the price is lower."  

You log on here at planned time Sat nights waiting for Best Buy to switch over to the new sales and specials for the week - when BB turns over, you probably are very active in adding items to your cart and seeing if anything happens, or more likely you sit and refresh the BB Ad thread hoping someone will post a glitch within the first few minutes that the new deals go live.   There's a lot of planned and scheduled actions that go into that, and isn't just "whoops I found a lower priced thing woohoo."

At the same time, I get not publicizing every single loophole that exists so that every f'n shmuck in the world uses and abuses those loopholes and it gets ruined for everybody.    

If whoever decides to delete shady tactic threads, by all means, delete the threads.    Or let people come up with new and shady ways to work the system and not immediately delete the threads...  But I'd rather be aware these loopholes exist and not use them then not know anything at all about them.   But maybe new threads about them can promote some healthy discussion and make some otherwise boring posts a little more entertaining to read?

I don't understand why some of you think that effort plays a role if an action is moral or not moral.

If a store takes your money and gives you a product consentually, why bother arguing. Do you go to a garage sale and feel bad when you score a $60 game for $2 because the owner doesn't know what it's worth? It's Best Buy selling the item and approving it. Next you'll hear these white knights declining buying stuff on clearance because it's too low for what it's worth smh. If anything Glitch orders are worse than this because it's an automated system that screwed up rather than an employee of the company approving a purchase manually.
 
Moral compass in these type of deals are pointless. Live by the motto that if a company allows it, it's fair game. If a company decides to change it's policy, it's to close a loophole based on metrics and not one-off deals like this. To impose moral high ground on others won't change anything, but I suppose whatever helps people sleep at night. . .

How about when people price match at Target and then try to get Cartwheel by mixing it in with other stuff they are buying?

It has been well established for a year or two you get either the price match or the cartwheel but not both. Yet people talk about doing this all the time.

I dont see the problem in getting best buy to pricematch an exploit if you want to actually put in the time to do it. the real issue here though is this is basically just a Bragging topic. this isnt a deal set up by Best Buy and obviosuly its YMMV, so why post stuff like this? This would be better in the Regional Deals section or Off Topic section. Lets all start up new topics about what we pricematched places and label them as new deals.
