2 Halo 2 Maps coming out April 17th for..

It seems to me that if Halo 2 is important enough for you to want these maps, you should pay the $4 and get the maps the legit way. Seems like it would be pretty easy to tell who paid and who didn't. Is $4 enough to risk getting in trouble over? Not for me!

(oh, not to mention it is stealing)
 
I ended up finding a copy of Halo 2 at the pawn shop today for $12 so I'll be downloading these maps later today.

Oh, and I agree with captmurphy, its only $4, if you're that cheap that you have to steal these maps that's just pathetic.

And hell, its cheaper than 3 new GHII songs and you'll get a hell of a lot more use out of them.
 
I'm getting this from a fellow CAGer hopefully next week. Would anyone on here be up for creating a CAG game to play? I've never played Halo 2 online but I've heard there's quite a few ass-hats out there that I would love to avoid.

Would you guys be up for hooking up some night for some H2?

H2 is still pretty popular amongst the CAG community. I'm almost sure some great match will go down with these new maps.
 
If this falls under the "glitch" then I didn't mean to do it. But, I think I might have got the maps for free.

Signed into Halo 2.
Needed an update, because I wasn't at 1.5.
Signed back in. Couldn't get to Live in the game.
Realized I needed a Gold account.
Used a 48-Hour Trial on my Gamertag.
Signed back into Halo 2.
Went to the downloader.
Tried to download the pack.
Authorized them to charge me for the pack.
Got "denied" and told I "wouldn't be charged" for the attempt.
Backed out and tried to go back in.
Got to the downloader and this time it went through. (Don't know if I was charged.)

Again, I had no intention of getting these maps for free. (I used the same account throughout the process; I don't even have other accounts on my 360!) It is possible that I did get charged for them, but from the looks of it, I did not.

Some people on H2 can be total jerks, but for the most part people are pretty cool.

Here's most of the "bad" stuff that happens, but it isn't a huge issue -

Somebody will be REALLY obnoxious and curse you out every time you die (or you kill them)
A kid will scream and yell like he is the coolest thing ever
Team killing

Actually, most of your problems can be avoided by simply not listening to what people say... unless you are playing a game with an objective, chat isn't all that important anyways.
 
So I read in the bungie press release thing that these maps wouldn't be in matchmaking for a week. Gotta do a custom match or something. So I need to know if I can do a quick match and specify the map type to be thrown into a party/game with others who are playing said new maps, or must I set up the custom match myself and invite friends to play. None of my friends play H2 anymore, so that could be tough to swing.

To those of you who are getting these for the original xbox - Frankie said the maps are tied to the BOX, not the gamertag/profile... so if you buy them for your xbox 1 you will have to buy them again for the 360 if you want to play on there.

After goofing off on both maps for a while, I like them both. With 8 people, I'm guessing a 50 kill round will go pretty quickly. Both maps are fairly small and wide open... Battle Rifle maps if you ask me.
 
Well looks like I won't be able to download the maps. I keep getting the error that I don't have premium purchases enabled on my account. Apparently, before I changed my live ID over to my 360 I had the premium purchases disabled on the ID for my old XBox so now I'm locked out for life on this gamertag.

In that case, you should try downloading them for free with the glitch. At least you tried to buy them.

I doubt that glitch would work because it won't let my live ID in to download at all and I'm certainly not starting another Gold account to download some maps. Can someone please explain to me why they couldn't put this up for download on the marketplace AND the old XBox?

Well I believe the default setting on the old Xbox was that premium purchases were enabled however I had clicked that over to disabled. Apparently that setting carried over but the ability to alter that setting never did.

Thanks a fucking lot Microsoft. You know I wouldn't be as pissed if not for the fact that I specifically went out and bought a new copy of Halo today to be able to download these maps to play.

I think it would work, since you download the maps with a new silver account (which hasn't had premium content disabled).

I tried creating a new account and went to download it and at the bottom it says "PURCHASED" however it won't download it and I didn't realize it until after the fact but the new account doesn't have a credit card connected to it. So did I somehow end up in the same boat as Rig only with the downloads failing I can't finish the download yet?

What the fuck is going on with this download anyway? It would seem that its easier to glitch your way in to getting it for free than it is to pay for the fucking thing?

This is madness.
Edit-Tried it again, its actually trying to download now with the progress bar about 1/3 of the way through now. I think I accidently got it free.
Edit2-Umm yeah somehow I ended up downloading it but I don't think I got charged for it. This is a really F'd up download...
 
the glitch works...

i about shit my pants when the game was updating and it was the ORIGINAL XBOX INTERFACE!! i was like wtf? my wife was even like "Whoa..havent seen that in a long time."

You know I don't think its so much a glitch as it is the fact that they fucked up the way it tries to charge you for the purchase.
 
I signed up for a sliver account, but it gave me a fuckin' free month of gold. Now I can't follow through with the glitch.

Is there any way to get around this?

Make two more silver accounts. You only get one free month for the first 3 accounts made.

See it did that for the second account I made to try and download as well but then ended up letting me download it anyway.

I'm absolutely sure that I forgot to add a credit card to the second account before I tried to download it so I know it didn't charge me for them. I think there's maybe just a problem in general with trying to charge for downloading original xbox content on xbox 360 but that's just pure speculation on my part.

I can understand trying to get them for free the first time, but is it really worth all the fuckin' hassle for $4?

now when i go to purchase the maps on my old xbox it says they are not enabled...

furthermore when i try to do account management.. i enter the last four of the card on file and i always get a technical error message!

Yea, I'm getting the same error too when I try to do a account recovery.
 
Yeah. I'm not going to take advantage of the glitch. I just want to play them. Hopefully they show up for me tonight (they didn't show up at all last night when people started dl'ing them)
 
Well I couldn't get it to work by paying, so I used my girlfriend's silver account that's on my box and got them for free. Any CAGs gonna be playing party matches, send me an invite, I'd like to play!
 
If I wanted to download this for my xbox and my xbox 360, would I have to buy them twice ($8) or can download again under the same live account?

Twice, it's tied to hardware not gamertag, since it's original Xbox content.

You can use the silver glitch on your 360 and just pay for it on xbox.

Every time my 360 breaks, I have to re-download the Halo maps. So if I download the new maps for $4, and this 360 breaks, I'd have to download them on the new 360 for another $4. And I have kept my first harddrive every time I've made the switch - the maps aren't useable until you download them again.

Something everyone should think about first. I was about to download them until I thought of that. Is Bungie going to eventually make them free?

For people who did the Silver glitch: Can you use the maps on your older Gold account?
 
fuck since my 360 is dead and i only have my xbox right now... seems like i cant take advantage of the glitch..

and now that i heard that i would have to re pay for them on my 360 pisses me off

Does anyone who used the silver glitch know if you can use them on your old Gold account? Sorry for the repeat, just looking to download them tonight if I can for free.

On the dashboard, click your Gamercard.

Go to Account Management

Select the Membership you have

You can see your credit card #. (The last four digits, actually.)
 
So who is playing tonight? I would liek to play with some CAG;s. Add me to your XBL lists! Like on side...

ALSO...I just found out I got charged $50.00 for my XBL "automatic renew" which I didn't realize was an option. How do I turn this off so I don't get scammed next year?
