Others have explained it already, but to put it simply: it's 20% on top of their already 25-30% off. If a dvd on the site is already 30% off, this coupoon makes it 46% off.
I was reading DVD Talk and it seems like some preorderes are working at DVD Planet, so I suppose some could be working at Deep Discount. I'm sure they will fix it though.
is there a code for dvd planet for the same thing 20% off?

My first order:
DVD : Battlestar Galactica Razor $11.47 (great price on this, is 20 about everywhere)
DVD : Penn & Teller Bullshit - 5th season $16.98
BLR : Bonnie & Clyde $21.46

Total: $49.91

Shit, this sale and the BN.com sale are raping my wallet

From DDD:

Beavis and Butthead Mike Judge Collection $42
Eternal Sunshine HD-DVD $9.40

BN.com:

Muppet Show Season 1-3 = $56 (ridiculously good price)
Just got this email...
Thanks, Cheapy.

BTW: codes WGN, DEALNEWS, and USATODAY work as well as DDAF.

I can't believe I missed the beginning of the sale.#-o

Did order American Gangster, The Rundown, and The Sting today. American Gangster was listed as "ship from mfg", but I just got a message stating they are OOS.

My wallet just took a big hit. I decided to take advantage of this sale to catch up on some retro-cartoon collecting. Here's my score:

TMNT (1987) Season 6: $15.11
TMNT (2003) Season 4, Part 1: $12.01
Darkwing Duck Volume 2: $25.87
Ducktales Volume 2: $25.87
Ducktales Volume 3: $25.25
Animaniacs Volume 2: $34.50
Sonic the Hedgehog the Complete Series: $19.89
Adventures of SMB 3/Adventures of Sonic: $31.61
Captain N and the New Super Mario World: $18.61
Legend of Zelda: $18.08

Total: $226.80
Discount: -$45.36
Final Total: $181.44

On a related note, I became aware of the deals/coupons at bn.com and managed to score a trio of DVD sets cheaper than what I would've paid at DD. With B2G1, 20% off one item, and 6% off all items I ended up with these prices, before (and after discounts). Additionally, this is without a membership:

Animaniacs Volume 3: $40.49 ($27.93)
Muppet Show Season 2: $31.99 ($0)
Muppet Show Season 3: $31.99 ($30.07)
Shipping: $0
Tax: $3.48

Total: $61.48

Would've paid about $79 at DD so I saved myself an extra $17 on those three. :D

So in total I spent $242.92 on DVD sets today. Eesh!

Does anybody know if DD will combine orders if you email them? I paid for expediated shipping ont he first order I bought, but forgot a few things (doh!), so I'm wondering if they would combine this second order witht the first so I get expediated shipping on all of it?

So far :p I've picked up

ST: TNG Complete set (WOOHOO!)
Monty Python's Meaning of Life
3 different 50 movie packs of old movies (musicals, family, and comedy classics)
Andy Griffith S1 and 4

Yes, I am a geek... I know...

The BN.com comment is so true. I am so excited about getting my Muppets seasons in.

Just bought Planet Earth: The Complete Series for $53.48 (saved $13.37).

I'm still jealous that the HD-DVD version is only $46.11 before 20%.

If only the PS3 could do HD-DVD...cost-effectively.

I hadn't known that Wild Zero or BioZombie were ported to the states. Maybe it wasn't recently or something. Anyway, two added to the pile thanks to this thread. I should just stop reading it before it gets out of hand.

Somebody explain this to me, Trafic (Tati film with Hulot) is now showing up as a preorder and stating that it will come out on the 15th, effectively negating the coupon. The others just show up as out of stock, which means that the coupon should still work on them. What the hell and why?

What's with Bleach being on pre-order for June 10th?

I'll pick it up when it shows in stock, been looking a deal on the box set since I'd rather own it than have it uh... digitally stored.

That happened a few sales ago with Freaks and Geeks/Undeclared... I think it's a matter of the studio starting up a new production run for that item, and DD changing the listing to reflect the when they get the first shipment for the new print run. Which sucks for the coupon users.

(I remember this because my brother had me pick him up those TV shows, and I somehow managed to get the order in in the less-than-a-day window between 'out of stock' and the preorder change, so I was able to use the coupon.)

Anyway- my orders so far are:
Galaxy Angel S
Ramen Fighter Miki vol. 3
Air: The Movie
Criss Angel Halloween special
Top Gun (Father's Day present)
Astroboy Ultra Box 1
Hikkatsu manga vol 2 (no coupon, but cheaper that most places anyway)

I'm still kinda eyeing out for 1 or 2 more anime DVDs (big paycheck+stimulus check= extra money! :bouncy:) Not sure what to get, though...

That Danger Mouse set kicks ass.... I bought the four box sets individually :whistle2:\

I picked up WM24 on Blu Ray, a couple Pinky and the Brain sets, and one of the He-Man Box sets (the new version, the other one was sold out)

Here's what I got (used buy.com w/ google checkout)

mystery science theater: the movie - 1.47
disney treasures: oswald the rabbit - 9.03
Sabrina the Teenage Witch Season 2 - 6.98
Shoot'em Up Bluray - 12.26
Driving Lessons - 1.41
Enchanted Bluray - 11.41
Pink And The Brain Volume 3 - 15.59
Full House Season 7 - 9.18
3rd Rock From The Sun Season 5 - 4.30
3rd Rock From The Sun Season 6 - 4.30

total: 75.93

dang, been waiting all week to get stargate atlantis season 4, which says the 8th. Was hoping since it was after midnight i could order it not as a re-order, but guess I'm gonna have to wait a little more.

Thanks for answering my question. Still, that's really lame. I would have waited for the title, as long as I could order it with the coupon. Now I'm going to be a title short for my M. Hulot/Tati collection. I guess I'll just use some Borders' coupon that comes up.

Tempted to get Kite Liberator for 11.32 after the 20%, though it's out of stock. It's not enough of a discount though, and not high on my want list... I can't decide :(

Also, I really prefer DVDPlanet over DeepDiscount, only because I have a ton of points there, but they're consistently higher priced, plus tax and shipping, so... oh well.

Edit: Meh, I'm going to pass. I just don't want it enough.

Went ahead and placed my third (and probably final) order for Mars Daybreak complete collection, Millenium Actress, and Elf Princess Rane. I might break down and do a fourth afternext payday, assuming I suddenly remember some anime I forgot I really wanted (not very likely).
