good luck guys, this is how I got my 360 for $300 last time. However my Meijer doesn't really move electronics, so pray they'll actually have newer stock. doubt it on the HDMI systems unless you're in a big(ger) city.
 
Do I signup for the card at the same time, or do they mail you a card?

edit = I mean, can I go tomorrow at 6, grab a 360, apply for card, and get 28% off all in one go?
 
Damn! So unless my math sucks, after taxes you could get a Premium for $267.12!?!? That's killer! Too bad they weren't the new models.... :whistle2:|
 
I went to Meijers yesterday to apply for the store only credit card (not the mastercard) and was approved on the spot for a $475 line of credit (already have two other credit cards with 2000+ line of credit and I am only 19 so that is probably the reason for the low amount.) Anyways, it took about 15 minutes, and they give you a receipt on the spot, w/ your CC account number and the 10% off coupon. The receipt can be used as your credit card until you actually get it in the mail.

I asked the lady at customer service when the actual deal starts for the 20% off, and she said 6AM not 12AM, so like the post a few above, YMMV, you might be able to get the deal earlier than 6AM, but don't count on it.

I am located on the east side of Detroit, around 23 mile and the Grosse Pointes (two houses) so I will be checking the 23 mile and Gratiot location, plus the 13 mile and Little mack location (if the first is unsucessful.) I am going to head over to the 23 mile location within the next hour. I am going for the Xbox 360 premium, I plan on actually buying it tonight because I am going to 311 this evening and I will probably be in no condition to buy it tomorrow morning at 6 AM, so the plan is to make sure its in stock, buy it, take it back tomorrow or Saturday, and then repurchase it right away using the Meijer credit card w/ the 10% first time purchase discount and getting it for around $250+tax.

I will let people know the stock situation on Wiis, elites, premiums, and PS3s at the Meijer(s) I visit. Also, since I go to school at Michigan State and live off campus, I will probably keep the Meijer credit card and use it for groceries and other odds and ends up there just so it doesn't appear as a one time use and cancel on the credit history.

EDIT: Also, if it is not the new HDMI version, I might just hold on to it for however long the exchange period is in hopes of landing the new hardware sometime around the end of August/beginning of September.

Can you please elaborate a little more on this last statement?
 
Shit! We can't get the MSRP for $349.99! Why? Because after trying to make sure before I make the trip tomorrow, I called like 4 stores. All said I need a f------ WEEKLY AD to price match, nothing else. No phone calls to Best Buy, Circuit City, etc.

F---. $313 isn't good for an older console.

Right on, that's how I got my PS3 two weeks ago. They will give you a slip with your CC number on it, and then the card is mailed.

Also, yes it is highly YMMV on getting it at midnight, also, it is very YMMV on what systems are available, manufacturer date, and the price.

I for one am lucky, seeing as the Meijer headquarter is just down the road, so the stores by me are usually first to get stocked with the good stuff.
 
I just called like 10 different retailers. None of their August 12th ads are availible to the public, until Sunday.

I think he's trying to lock in the sweet price of the special deal, keep it unopened and return it to swap for a HDMI-falcon unit when one is available, depending upon the length of the store's return policy.

maybe you could print out microsoft's price drop press release and take that in... :lol:

Well, I don't know if Meijer has a 14 or 30 or 90 day exchange period, but I would just basically keep the Xbox 360p unopened until I found a newer model at a Meijers, and then take it to the customer service desk, telling them I would like to exchange my brand new unopened 360 for this newer one because of the HDMI port option. There is no reason why they shouldn't allow me to this, and if they tried to not let me, I would just complain to the store manager and 99% the customer wins because "The customer is always right." I really don't game as much as I used to, I am not even buying a 360 game until Halo 3 at the end of September, so it doesn't matter to me until then to hook it up, I would just be borrowing friend's games or playing my old Xbox library on the 360 until then, so I can afford to sit on an unopened console for however long I need to.

RESmonkey, I am going to bring my laptop into the store with me with like three browser windows open to the press release of the MSRP being dropped, plus maybe some of those ad scans I saw opened up, and lets see them not honor it then.

Interesting idea. For those of you familiar with the Detroit subburbs...I just went to the new Super Walmart and new Target that opened in Livonia. The stores literally just opened a couple days ago. They did not have any of the newer systems. Target had a couple Elites. Walmart had a Premium that was bundled with MotoGP (im not up to speed but has that been common?). I plan on hitting some Meijers on my way home from work today. I highly doubt they will have the newer architecture systems. Bummer.

By the way...wasn't there talk of MS bundleing a game with the newer skus? I can't remember what game...
 
Ok, I just got back from Meijers with my new Xbox 360 premium.

They HAVE adjusted prices, the price was 349.99 on the shelf, and rang up for that amount.

The lady was just putting new merchandise on the shelf, she said they had just gotten these units in today(the premiums.) They had 2 Xbox 360 Premiums, and one Elite. I am skeptical that this is one of the newer units, because it has the old game pictures on it (DOA4, Madden 06, Perfect Dark Zero, etc.) The lot number is 0626, if that means anything. I have to pull up that page which had the lot number of the newly manufactured July 4th batch to see if this matches. I told them that I wasn't even planning on opening it till Halo 3, and mentioned the new lots, and the guy said if the box has not been opened, than I can exchange it anytime within the next 90 days, so I will wait that long if I have to (hopefully will be able to get it sooner though, maybe even a new free game in the box would be nice too for an exchange.)


I am planning on going back tomorrow or Saturday to return/repurchase w/ the Mejier credit card.

Also, this Meijer had a lot of systems in stock! Here is the rundown as of 4:30 PM EST on 8.9.07

PS3 60GB - 3 in stock
PS3 80GB - 2 in stock
Xbox 360 Premium - 1 in stock (now that I bought the other)
Xbox 360 Elite - 1 in stock

Didn't check on the Cores, cause I didn't think anyone cared.

Called them up again. Lady said I can buy for MSRP $399 (adding a 28% off on that), then come on Sunday w/ an ad paper and get a PRICE ADJUSTMENT.

Just checked that engadget article comments to see what the lot number was, the one with the HDMI had 0726 and mine is 0626 so I am guessing mine is not one of the new ones which means I will be holding on to it until the new ones are out!

EDIT: RESmonkey, if the store you go to for some reason doesn't have the price adjusted, tell them to call up the Meijers I went to, which was the 23 Mile / Gratiot location in Chesterfield Township.

Nope, they haven't changed it. It was a really dumb lady this time. She said she knows for a fact that all Meijers have the same price, and that I'm lying about the $349.99.

Called a different Meijer, the guy was very enthusiastic and whatnot, and scanned it , it was $349.99!!! YES!
Got it reserved for 6Am tomorrow!

Anyone have luck getting price adjustments for these sales? I picked up a PS3 today and plan on adjusting the price with the sale tomorrow. It is still sealed and would just like to know.
 
What do you guys think about the 27' GFM HDTV they have on sale friday & saturday? Its 399 which makes it 288 after 28% discount. If anny of the HDTV gurus can give me some info on it, I would be very thankful.

I just want to know when the console was made before buying...
 
Just picked up a PS3 with this deal. Called last night and they had 1 in stock. Hit the store at 5:45 this morning since the 20% started at 6:00am. Got the 1 in stock and a HDMI cable.....total came to $400.?? with tax. Took the 20% off first, then the 10%, then added tax.

Can't really beat that considering I can still get the 5 free BR movies. May not be ideal titles for those freebies, but I can pick one from each category without feeling bad about it!

to possibly save someone a trip... @ 6:00 AM columbus ohio sawmill location had:

3 - 360 premiums (none were the newer with HDMI port)
1 - 360 elite
no PS3s that i could see
no Wiis that i could see
 
I picked up an Elite last night at the Canton store on Ford Rd. At that time they had 2 Elites and 2 Premiums. The Premimums had MFR dates of 2006 so I passed. The Elite I got has a MFR date of 6-12-2007. I tried searching the web to see if this is a good build date but had a hard time finding a list. So, I need to decide if I am going to keep this or take it back.
I'd like to get the new Falcon chip set that people are talking about. From what I have been reading machines built in July have the new Falcon chip set. If anyone can shed some light on this subject it would be greatly appreciated. I'm still undecided if I should keep this unit or not.

And if anyone wants a good laugh.....go to the Canton Ford Rd store and stop by the Xbox 360 display. The unit is on and is flashing the "Red Ring of Death". Someone took a $5.99 price sticker and placed it on the Xbox.

At first I laughed about the display but then I started to get pissed off and worried about what may happen to my potential investment. It's sad that I am making my decision to buy based on a build quality problem. Shouldn't be like that.... :wall:

Falcon chipsets have absolutely not been confirmed to be in the wild yet. So far it's just extra heatsink or not. With a 6-12 manuf. date, I don't think you'd be the first with a falcon.

There's a flap on the box you can lift that reveals what's stamped on the back of the console. My Meijer clerk let me check through all 6 360's they had last time.
 
But with a 6-12-07 MFR date can I be assume that there will be the new Heat Sink on there?

I think I am just going to return the unit and wait until the new chip sets are released. I'd rather pay the extra money for a better machine. Seeing that freaking unit in the store display is VERY discouraging.
 
Hmm...my Meijer is holding their last Premium for me. If it's a 2006 and if I really feel bad about RROL, I might wait till they get more and then exchange.

They COULD keep restocking the supply with 2006 models, right? Since there is still a crapload of them.
 
Just went to the Meijer at 8 Mile & Haggerty in Northville.

As of 1pm they had:

3 - Xbox 360 Elite
2 - Xbox 360 Premium
Zero PS3
Zero Wii

Picked up Wario Ware: Smooth Moves for Wii and Ninja Gaiden Sigma for PS3 for under $100. Used existing credit card w/ 20% off as I had already used the card to buy a PS3 back in April.

Anyone know what is available at the Meijer in Utica on Hall Road and Hayes?

really don't think you can assume that. too close to tell. perhaps you could open, check, and return if you're not happy? I don't remember the fine print but you're well within the return period and it's not a media item like a dvd or game software. Also - store display units are the most abused things ever. Plus, being in an enclosed case sure doesn't help with the heat (and sitting right next to the power brick, I'm sure).

Unfortunately, I couldn't see the SKU's. The side with the SKU was up against the wall of the display case.

Also, a buddy of mine confirmed 12 Wii's at the 12 Mile & Dequindre location in Warren. That's as of 2pm.

0 Premiums left - I got last one. I don't think it's the HDMI one.
1 Elite left, 1 Elite reserved for someone
0 Wiis - I would have grabbed one to sell, though :)

I'm contemplating on opening my 360 or not, I don't think Meijer will get fresh new HDMI premiums, though.
 
Ah, wasn't sure about picking up another PS3 to sell at the Meijer by me. They had 2 80gb versions and 3 60gb versions along with 2 premiums.

But, I did pick up a digital camera for a great deal, regular 299.99 on clearance for 150.00 and then 20% off.
 
I decided to keep the Elite I purchased. Went back to the store today and did the return and rebuy. Also picked up Gears and Rainbow Six Vegas. Who knows when I will be able to open the thing up since I have a newborn that's been taking up a lot of my time for some reason. :)
