2010-2011 NBA Season Thread

TELL me that wildcpac tard got banned.

EDIT: Just saw he did. Bahahahahaha. Multiple people in the thread, including myself, tried to tell him to calm it down, and he still didn't listen.

Anyways, I wanted to see a "super team" happen this off-season, and it definitely happened with the 3 I wanted to see it with. Still...it's pretty shitty for the Blazers. With the Lakers in the West, and the new Miami, our window for a ring is pretty much gone now....B-Roy's only got maybe, MAYBE 4 years because of his knees. And with LA and Miami, along with the other teams that are still in contention (Magic, Boston, OKC, possibly Dallas) in the West and the new up and comers in the East (Bulls, Atlanta) those 4 years could be futile. Aldridge still has yet to prove that he can be the definite second in command, and I consider Oden to be a bust, until he proves otherwise. I think he can definitely be a good player, but will probably never meet the expectations of being a #1 pick.

If Oden stays healthy and out of foul trouble, he is easily a top 5 center.

Yet those 2 things are the two huge problem areas he's had in the combined 82 games he's played in 3 seasons.

I don't disagree. I just don't think he can accomplish those goals. The foul trouble stuff will even out over time, but with his injuries, the sheer number, and the fact that they're in different parts of his body, are huge huge red flags.

Also top 5 is a bit of a stretch. It really doesn't take a lot to be considered elite at the center position (not like it was in the late 90s) but I think its currently beyond his skill level. Maybe in the next 2-3 years he can reach that level...granted he stays healthy and out of foul trouble :)

EDIT: Also the center position has evolved to a more PF-esque player type.
They really don't. They already have 3 dominant scorers. They just need someone to take up space and who can rebound. They have that with Joel Anthony (who is likely to be picked back up). They also drafted two centers.
Bosh is at his best next to a banger, and he complained about not having one in Toronto. It doesn't have to be an all star, just a big physical center that can grab rebounds.

Mike Miller will be great for them but he only solves whats probably their 2nd or 3rd biggest problem. I guess he's their starting point guard now.

I actually thought it would have been better for the Heat to go after Brendan Heyward to fill the C position next to Bosh. He's a solid guy, plays decent defense, and can even chuck in a few points on the side. He would have filled that role nicely for them. There's not much else out there they can sign to fill it as well.

Mike Miller's problem is he is a small forward. For the same amount of money Drew Gooden would be much better fit

Haywood re-signed with the Mavs I think, so he's out. Would have been a good fit. I don't think there is too much left, Center-wise, really. Didn't they draft two bigs anyway? They might have to go with one of them starting. Or maybe LBJ can bring Big Z down with him. Without knowing how much Miami's big three are taking, its hard to know who would be a good fit, financially that is.

Shaq? He's got almost nothing left but if he got himself into actual shape he could at least take up space in the middle. He's still huge.

I think Shaq's contract is huge, so they wouldn't be able to get him.

It'd be interesting, but I don't think it'd be a good fit. He'll take up room in the middle, sure, but thats about it. It wouldn't be too bad if they only got him for the first year and then they could see what they could pick up after the season.

He's been talking to teams (Celtics, Spurs) for MLE money. I'm not too sure what that means, so take it for what its worth.
Tyrus Thomas reaches $40 million 5-yr agreement with Nets. Not bad I guess
He's like Beasley. If he can put it all together, he'll be a great player. Until then, he's just another underachiever.

I dunno, I think he would be lucky to be as good as Beasley is now. I'm also reading reports that Tyrus resigned with the Bobcats, guess the Nets thought about it for a second and didn't feel like throwing money away.
The Lebron special, according to early reports, was watched in 7 out of every 100 homes. They are thinking it is the biggest audience that ESPN has ever had for a news program. 1 out of every 4 homes in Cleveland watched... man you got to feel bad for their fans.

I guess this is the real winner

Beasley is a better scorer, but Thomas is a beast defensively.

His Fathead is reduced to $17.41, 1741 being the year Benedict Arnold was born. Who owns that company? Dan Gilbert.

On the Cavs site, right after LeBron announced his "decision" but before the open letter, they replaced his picture with a huge photo of Delonte West.

Waitaminute... I just figured something out. DAN GILBERT IS WILDPAC!!!!
Also, I have actually met Dan Gilbert several times whiling working. Hell he even showed me around the Fat Headz factory he owns.

But seriously.....he is acting like a bitch. He is acting like the crazy girl you just broke up and cant get over it so she spend her time spreading rumors, constantly bringing you up and trying to make everything look like your fault.

Before Bron no one gave a shit about the Cavs....now you are playing in primetime every game with 30k fans in the seats and another 50k on tv. He saved your city from the horrors of the Browns and Indians. He gave you more than any other player did to a city......sorry you cant ride his coat tails anymore.
Gilbert needs to hold a press conference and state that Lebron has a little dick to complete his crazy ex girlfriend gimmick.

If they really wanted to go for a burn they would have put up one of Delonte and LeBron's mom.
He got temp banned for being butthurt that the Knicks didn't land James.
That and being a general nuisance.

Apparently this isn't the first time, if I'm reading Shrike's post right.

No it's not he has been like this pretty much sense I was following during the playoffs.
Bulls just signed Korver, 3 years/15m.
Link?

It seems the Bulls are the absolute most serious team, besides the Heat, about getting better this off-season
Bulls just signed Korver, 3 years/15m.
Solid Solid pick up on the Bulls end. Not many more free agents available at the 2/3 spot really, so KK for 15 mil is not bad at all.

I probably would of preferred JJ Redick over KK for the Bulls but he would come with a WAY bigger price tag.

Edit: HA! no Shit, reunited with his old teammate Boozer.
No it's not he has been like this pretty much sense I was following during the playoffs.
Definitely. Though as I posted before he'd probably shut the fuck up if the rest of you would just put him on ignore and quit giving him the attention he craves.

Arguing with him is what he wants and just pulls the sports threads off topic all the time.

Felton is close to signing with the Knicks. If he does sign that's a huge upgrade over Duhon. I just hope they don't over pay him.

Michael Beasley traded because he looks too much like Delonte West?

According to Beasley's dad, yeah!:lol::lol:

The Magic have already gone on record stating they will match whatever offer JJ gets (he's a restricted FA); this is part of the reason most teams haven't looked at him.

Chris Broussard said on ESPN Friday that a big reason that LeBron James didn't sign with the Bulls is that they didn't offer enough perks for LeBron's family and friends.
One of LeBron's buddies was hired by the Cavaliers and he wanted his entourage to be able to travel on the Bulls' tab, but the team, according to Broussard, said 'we didn't do that for Michael Jordan, so we're not doing it for you.'

Good for the Bulls if true.
Good for the Bulls if true.
Very good. It'd be a shame if LBJ's crew got the perks but MJ's didn't, even though I doubt MJ had a huge one back in the day.

And  on the Beasley/Delonte tweet. Haha

wtf! why are the cavs considering a sign and trade for lebron? i dont want that bitch to get any extra money. who the hell would they give us anyway? mario chalmers along with the 30th pick. fuck that!
