2010-2011 NBA Season Thread

I think the Bulls can win a title in the next few years. They just need to make some changes and get the final pieces to the puzzle.
Bulls are so disappointing.
Chicago sports in general this year were pretty disappointing. Least they did better than usual I guess.
Hope Dirk shits on James.

Never posted in this topic before but just wanted to say, haters can hate all you want, 4-1 is all that matters in the end. Go Heat!

It's like all Heat fans are the same. lol

agreed they pretty much donated this series to miami, hopefully more maturity and chemistry will allow them to never allow games to just slip away constantly like in this series

Definitely. I just really believed it wouldn't happen this year. Then again, didn't believe in the Heat this year either. I hope Dirk gets his revenge.

Stay classy, Bulls fans.

I'm rooting for the Mavs, I want to see Kidd, Marion, and Dirk get a ring.
Yikes, wants their families and all their fans to die.

I love how D-Rose puts all the blame on his shoulders. Just a classy guy.

One guy can't do it all though. Blaming the entire thing on him is stupid. His percentage sucks because the other guys on the team aren't doing shit. He has to take terrible shots the entire game because no one is doing anything to get him open. The Bulls only offense plan is to give the ball to Rose. They need another option or two in the starting line up.

Bulls had an amazing season, but man it sucks to see them go out this way, considering they could have won the series 4-0.

That's coming from someone who had Bulls bedding on his bed like an 8 year old would, but he kept it on his bed til he was 27. Seriously. There's pics of it somewhere on CAG.

Why can't anybody give the right team the credit they deserve. The bulls did not donate this series, the heat earned it.

I'm a huge Dirk and Kidd fan but they will be next greats to join Malone and Barkley. Also Nash, that one really makes me sad.

Yeah, the Bulls are going to be a team to fear for the next few years. I love Rose but he can't do everything himself.

I would say the Bulls need to get rid of Boozer ASAP. Guy is a waste of space, can't play defense, and doesn't score consistently. Trade Deng too. Guy is good, but Bulls need to make some big changes.

There's no excuse for the Bulls blowing that BIG of a lead in the 4th though. That's just downright embarrassing. It was their series to win. Bulls gave away all those loses.

NBA refs still fucking sucked and rigged the series. So many fouls called that shouldn't be called. All NBA refs are Tim Donaghy rigging NBA games, but do a better job hiding it.

Mavs will beat the Heat. I dislike the Heat the 2nd most after the Pacers.

I think its going to be a good series, although I do believe Dirk/Peja/Kidd deserve the rings far more then the Heat do. I guess Bosh is the only one who I'd like to see get a ring.

Heat fans may a get bad rap for being cocky, but I try to keep an unbiased view on things. If the heat had the #1 pick in 08, you bet your ass I'd want them to pick D-Rose. His situation in Chicago seems eerily similar to Cleveland with LeBron. If they can get a consistent #2 scoring option, they will truly be an intimidating team. The NBA is a young mans game and Derrick Rose has got father time by the balls.

What a prick. I'm glad I don't take sports this seriously.

Back on topic I'd like to see Dirk get a championship.

It really would have been nice for Boozer to show up during this series. The Bulls were able to beat the Hawks and Pacers getting very little from him but he really was needed against the Heat.

Anyway, while some people try saying, oh the Bulls/Thunder will continue getting better each year because they are a young team. Honestly, I do NOT like to hear or use that excuse ever. Maybe if your first year you get knocked out of the first round, definitely easy to improve that for sure. When you make it to the Semi-finals or Eastern Conference finals, you might not get that chance again. Your best players could be hurt all season + playoffs, coach could stop being as affective the following season, or there could be other teams that could make a few moves out of no where to put them at the top (Celtics got good out of no where).

I still remember my Bulls played well during the 2006-2007 season, almost getting 50 wins. Many thought we would be at the top of the central division in the 2007-2008 season (we made some good signings, drafted Noah, etc.). We ended up falling like a rock struggling to put on any win streak, lots of injuries, and so many bad things happen. The one good thing to come out of that was us getting the first pick to draft Derrick Rose. That is why you must win any chance you get. Many picked the Lakers as a favorite by far to return to the finals in the west, and they ended up falling like a rock this year in the playoffs. While I see the Bulls improving a lot during the offseason most likely, I see the Heat improving more because they will continue getting mid-level exceptions, and you better bet all stars will want to sign with them because they see them as winning a championship the most (more so than the Bulls). It happened with the Celtics, Lakers, etc. Now if they Bulls knocked off the Heat this time, you better bet they would have had the advantage getting players to sign and be good for a long time. Part of the reason I hate the Heat so badly is because they are young, got a few star players, it will be near impossible to take them down for years (unless something happens).

I'm a big Ravens fan too and hear the same thing every season. I will the same way with them where we better win any chance we get, because it might not come again the next season. People say it with my college team too, and we had a season ending injury to our best player hurt us.

I may sound like a fool now for saying this but don't forget about the Knicks. If they get a decent big man and start playing even an iota of defense, they can be right up there with the Heat and Bulls.

People bitch about LeBron flopping, yet no one bashes the master flopper himself King Rondo. Honestly I have to say I've never had any of my hometown teams be hated like this.....but I hope you all realize that Miami SERIOUSLY loves being hated on.

Bulls had an amazing season, but man it sucks to see them go out this way, considering they could have won the series 4-0.
I definitely agree with you there. There's no denying Rose is an awesome player, but their coach puts way too much offensive pressure on him. I can't count how many times the shot clock is running down and no one wants to take the shot. It ends up in Rose hands and he has to launch it. While people may say no one on the Bulls can score, that's not completely true. Yeah Noah may not be a shooter, but Bogans can shoot decently if he takes the shot, Deng can shoot it, Boozer can shoot it (not always consistent), Korver can shoot it, and many others. While people like to hate on Bogans (because he doesn't get a lot of playtime and doesn't do a lot in the starting lineup), he has shot the three point shot well in games, which is why I wish he took more shots a game. More and more guys just need to take the shot. Games the Bulls had where others were willing to step up on offense (like game 5 against the Pacers and Hawks), Rose shot a good percentage.
I may sound like a fool now for saying this but don't forget about the Knicks. If they get a decent big man and start playing even an iota of defense, they can be right up there with the Heat and Bulls.
I actually agree. The Knicks just need more depth and holes to fill. Once they do that, they can be really good.

I have a love/hate relationship with Boozer. There were a bunch of games Rose didn't play well, but he carried the team to victory. But then again, he had games be played beyond embarrassing. I will admit I was not a massive fan of his signing, because I felt Taj Gibson was an awesome starting center last season. I think we are stuck with Boozer though, because no one wants his contract.

Deng, I rather the Bulls keep him. Previous seasons I may not have favored him, but he has greatly improved his long range shot. I just wish he was just as aggressive as he use to be at taking it to the hoop. A 2nd scorer, preferably a SG, is what we really need.
Couple of people that Chicago needs to get rid of, but Deng isn't one of them. The guy is like Rose's sidekick.
Deng is very good, but if push comes to shove, he's an option on the table to get better guys. The only problem is most of the Bulls are under contracts, so they might have to take a hit to get some better guys.

Keep guys like Noah, Asik, Gibson, Brewer. Those guys will just keep getting better.
Unfortunately, the Chicago Jazz had to learn the hard way what kind of player Charles Loozer really is.
I was hesitant when they signed him. Even more so when he had that suspicious hand injury and was out for the beginning of the season. During the playoffs, the guy didn't perform. He can't play D, and he'll only be hot on offense every 3-4 games. Bulls need to get rid of him.

Many people in Chicago will throw Rose under the bus, but I'm sticking by him. He's my guy. It's only his 3rd year. The future looks bright for the team. Rose is a class act, and will only keep getting better. This will make him even hungrier, and I think this experience will be good for him.

Yeesh. Lots of angry Bulls posts since the last time I posted. Kinda makes me ashamed to be associated with some of them.

The refs? Yeah, there were some bullshit calls. However, that doesn't mean the Bulls can fall asleep and let another late fourth quarter lead evaporate again. If the Bulls had held on to their leads in the 4th in Games 4 and 5, it's a completely different series and we'd be talking about Miami needing to win on Saturday. However, it is what it is.

Rose showed a lot of class by taking some responsibility. Mad respect for that. Plus, dude is 22. He's at least got 10 more years in the league if he remains healthy and doesn't do anything dumb. Same goes for a lot of this young Bulls team. Local sportscasters said it best, this was a learning experience for the team.

Carlos Boozer? I'll just say that it's Ben Wallace all over again.

I'm still rooting for the Mavs to win the Finals. It would be cool to see Dirk and Kidd get a ring. Plus, can you imagine Mark Cuban after they win? It'll be like Christmas in June to him.

Thats who you decide to pick on in the flopping debate? Not Bosh? Not Ginobli? Not Gasol? Not even Paul Pierce? Rondo is FAR from the master flopper in this league. Dude's legit tough too. Dislocated elbow and then returning in the same game? Didn't LeBron have an elbow problem last season? Thats right, he did. And then he used it as an excuse for quitting.

The old saying goes "Don't hate the player, hate the game." The shit gets called, so they do it. It'll continue to get called, so they'll continue to do it. Its now a part of the game. A part I don't like, but a part all the same. And yes, it'll soon be like soccer, just like that clip a few posts up with LBJ straight up faking and then owing up to it.

Before game 1 of the ECF, almost all the basketball dudes in ESPN were praising the heat and giving them a ton of credit. They lost game 1, badly. Before Game 2, everything went back to normal, heat bashing from Barkley, Bucher, Miller, Barry and any other jackass I can't remember. What happened after that?

As for flopping, it's all part of the game. Sometimes it can get out of hand, but be sure that after a blatant flop, that players team will miss out on some easy calls on their end.

All my life whether it be grade school, college, or even work, I have to take a LOT of Heat for a Bulls loss. Everyone knows I'm definitely a die-hard Bulls fan. I may not show it everyday (I only wear a Bulls shirt or something at times), but my passion for the Bulls is always very high. A win puts me in a good mood for the night/day, a loss puts me a bit down. When we lose, I rather people just not say a word to me and I'm fine, but no, I get tons of laughing at me and so on and gets annoying (especially against the Pacers, since I came from Indiana). That is why I want people to get the message, don't screw with me when it comes to a loss against my teams. Many have learned that the hard way throughout the years.

Boozer reminds me of Wallace all over again. However, if any team is going to take him, they are going to want us to eat one of their massive contracts and could put us worse off. To get rid of Ben Wallace, we had to take on Larry Hughes contract (who was a bigger distraction complaining about play time).

The NBA and the refs had them shoot 35% last game ;)

Rose % this series
Game 2: 30.4
Game 3: 42.1
Game 4: 29.6
Game 5: 31.0

When you put all your eggs into one player and that player has a terrible time shooting, of course you are going to lose. Enough said.

Many times the shot clock is running down and no one will take the shot. They just keep passing it around and it ends in Rose's hands. Either Rose gets a turn-over for a shotclock violation, or he has to take a terrible shot. If others were willing to take the shots, Rose would have a higher field goal percentage, but no one else will shoot. I guarantee that if Lebron James or Dwayne Wade had no one around them willing to take shots, and they had to take pretty much every shot, their field goal percentage would go WAY down. And with Rose playing 40+ minutes every single game, you better bet he gets tired.

Like the commentators were saying, Rose should have been pulled out either at the end of the third quarter or the beginning of the fourth quarter. Bulls actually played well in the 2nd for half the quarter having C.J. Watson in the game.

Cool that you brought up Bron. Last year he was in a worst situation that Rose currently is in. Way worse. You know what Bron was shooting... 50.3%. Yep, his FG% didn't change much when he hit the playoffs (outside the games in which he gave up). Dwayne Wade, last year also was on a subpar team... you know what his shooting percentage post season was... oh yeah 56.4%... Needlesstosay, MVP was a bust.

YEAH GO HEAT! Heat and Mavs. Am I the only one who thinks the Bulls are just two clutch free throws away from being up in this series 3-2?
469607.jpg

It still haunts him.

I think we need to define flopping a bit more.

Bron really cant be considered a flopper ever....think about it...he is the ONLY superstar of his caliber who routinely gets dunked on because he goes for blocks all the time. He reminds me of Alonzo Mourning who also got dunked on all the time because of his pride in defense. He is top 3 defender in the league. Plus that doesnt go into the flop line it goes in the over selling contact line. True floppers rarely ever do anything involving real contact on defense. When is the last time you seen guys like Paul Perice or Manu (two biggest floppers playing right now) actual go up and try to block a dunk or a lay up?

Flopping is when you propel yourself backwards using your entire body like you were just shot in the face.

Yeah he over sold it to get that foul but there is a huge difference between this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVf1jQm7gUk&feature=related

I really hope the Mavs win the finals. It would be nice to see Dirk get a ring. The Heat are almost unfair because James and Wade (and Bosh lately) are so freaking good. Lock-down D. It is scary to think that this season was basically a test run and they are probably not going to peak for another year or two.
