2010-2011 NBA Season Thread

All this Lebron to Miami talk has me worried. NBA 2k11 online will be awful! Wade Lebron on same team? Plus bosh? Miami will be default team next year... Go to Knicks just to make online interesting. Lol I love that game.
Good. I never liked Walton, but Sasha had some good moments. Turkoglu is a huge improvement for the bench, though, which they need.
And here I thought Kobe and the Machine were such great friends that he would never get dealt...
LeBron could have come out last weekend after meeting with all of the teams and made an announcement. It would have saved his Brand Image and reputation. Especially if he didn't announce that he was going to Miami to play with a dream team to finally try to win.
How does it hurt his brand? What other superstar got an hour long segment on ESPN primetime on who they are signing with? As for reputation, every team (and their fans) involved is going to have their butt hurt at the end of this since only one of them can sign him. The speculation just continues increasing his ego/brand.

It hurts his brand because the majority of the fans around the league are turned off by his bullshit. It kills his brand in NY the largest market if he fucks NY over. Same thing for Chicago. LeBron is as good as dead to the fans in Ohio.

It is definitely hurting his image. He's getting slammed on every sports forum I've seen for having a 1 hour special etc.

Whether it does lasting damage to his reputation is another story, but it's definitely the most negativity I've seen towards Lebron on sports boards since he entered the league.

Jermaine O'Neal for the full MLE isn't too bad, only a 2 year deal. I guess Sheed isn't coming back.

He's a shell of himself but still a good defender and he still puts up respectable numbers.

I don't know... every time I hear his name I'm shocked to find out he is still in the NBA. That can't be a good sign.
All I want for Xmas is Amar'e and James with Carmelo in 2011. This will makeup for the past 10 years of suckitude. The Scott Layden and Isiah Thomas regimes. The trades for Antonio McDyess, Starbury, Francis, Fatso Eddy Curry.

LeBeyotch to Miami is all but official. Enjoy being in Jordan, Magic, Bird and Kobe's SHADOW you fucking pussy.
Had to. :D

The sports special is kind of like Tom cruise jumping on Oprahs couch it might be the thing that turns a lot of folks off from him

I'm no fan of his, but I can applaud him for taking less money and less glory to win as that's what sports should be about. Not trying to do it on your own and build an individual legacy or always taking the biggest pay check even if it means less chance at winning titles etc.

maybe the miami stuff is being leaked on purpose by james camp so it makes it more dramatic when he says he is staying in cleveland tonight? or maybe i am just reaching right now?
That's a pretty reasonable take, and certainly not an outcome that would surprise me. When I first heard about the special I assumed it meant he was staying, since slapping Ohio on the face on live TV didn't seem like a wise decision.
Well, I think the interview isn't being done in Ohio, so maybe he's preparing for the fallout by having it done somewhere else.

I think this is probably pretty likely. Although I still think he's going to Chicago.:)

I just don't understand why you would do this whole show on ESPN and then people from your camp leak what the decision may be. I have a feeling he may either stay in Cleveland or hopefully go to NY.

For fellow Laker fans here: How much of an easier road is the West looking for us? With Boozer and Amare heading east, not much solid bigs left.

An aged Tim Duncan, Yao Ming's uncertain return, Greg Odens glass knees and Dirk who cant make noise in the playoffs since there finals run.

Other solid contenders like Thunder and the nuggets are mostly fast paced scoring teams, which will keep struggling with the Lakers size advantage.

One things for sure do, the West is going to get crushed by the East at next years all star Game. :bomb: (held here in L.A)

SAS came off like it's 99.99999 done to Miami. The only thing that might change LeBron's mind in the next couple of hours it the money he could make in NY or the guilt trip from Ohio.

Well being in Cleveland a part of me wants to go out to a bar and watch this to see everyone lose it if he announces he is leaving. They were talking about upping the police presence around his house tonight on cleveland.com, I think if he leaves they'll need it. People around here are crazy about this shit.

I might step outside and listen to the thunder from the shit storm that is going to be cleveland, ohio tonight regardless of his decision. And I live 2 hours away

I wish OKC was in the East to kick the Heats fucking loser pussy ass up and down the court.

David Lee is rumored to be signed and trade to the Warriors for Anthony Randolph, Turiaf and Azubuike.

And if he stays, they'll probably react like they won an NBA title.

If its anything like the fans in LA, there will definitely be some flipped cars and pissed off cops.

Agreed man. Our biggest threats are the thunder and nuggets.

Sucks that the ASG is gonna be a blowout, even though held here @ staples

So LeBron has apparently booked 6 cabanas at a hotel in South Beach for the weekend. Looking more and more like Miami is a done deal.

I think there is some famous wedding there this weekend. I believe I heard Dan Patrick talking about it on his show yesterday. I think it's an athlete's wedding.

Carmelo's Wedding to LaLa from MTV

Carmelo is getting married in NYC on Saturday.

Drew Brees just tweeted that he left Espn and knows where LeBron is going. He then tweeted Miami or NY.

I could've sworn it was in Miami, according to DP. But the article even says NYC.

Carmelo's wife is a media personality from NYC. She used to host shows on MTV and VH1.

Yeah, I remember being annoyed by her when she was on tv.

Something I was just thinking about. Tonight's announcement is supposed to be this big surprise announcement that nobody knows about. It's like a series finale for a TV Show. How come TV Shows such as The Sopranos, Lost, etc etc etc etc that have hundreds of people working on the show are able to keep their mouths shut. I understand that they have clauses for it. Just seems funny that LeBron's inner circle couldn't keep their mouths shut for a day or two but a couple of hundred people from the Series finale of The Sopranos could keep their mouths shut for months.

Count Chocula just tweeted that all of this is bull shit for James' ego. He will go to the podium, make a dramatic pause, then announce the he is staying in Cleveland, which were his intentions the whole time. He will then go on to again have the best record in the NBA only to not even make it to the East finals and then have people make excuses for him.

I don't know why but I believe him yo.

This is the only scenario where his image won't take a huge hit. If he stays in Cleveland you can't fault a guy for being loyal to his team. If he leaves everyone involved is pissed other than where he ends up.

No way his ego will let him play for Wade's team.

Does Miami even know they have a basketball team still?

FWIW: disparate opinions among gms, agents, league HQ officials today about where LeBron is going, but consensus on 1 thing: it's not Mia.
If he ends up signing in NYC are we going to pretend you didn't change the thread title and call him LeBeyotch or whatever it was? ;)

Jim Rome said that Heats fans are really Dolphins Fans looking for free air conditioning.

John Madden just tweeted that Lebron is staying in Cleveland so his mom can be close to her f.uck buddy Delonte West.

I thought the Miami thing was a smokescreen put out by ESPN so that the show tonight wouldn't be pointless. The people making the most noise about Miami were ESPN shills like Stephen A Smith.

Just food for thought, if Boozer doesn't reneg on his oral promise to the Cavs back in the day, do you think James would have won at least one championship by now?

He probably would have won another Eastern Conference or two. Finals? Nah. Not against the Spurs or Lakers. Even the 06 Mavericks would have killed the Cavs.
