2010-2011 NBA Season Thread

Jim Gray: "LeBron, the climax of this year's Free Agency, in what is perhaps the most hyped post-seasons in NBA history, comes tonight with your decision. "

LeBron James: "Jim, I'd like to take this time to announce that I will be signing wi--"
so the Nets is out of it already? What happen to Jay-Z and the Russian guy?
They play in a hell hole called Newark NJ and the team won 12 games last year. Outside of Favors, the team hasn't improved too much after last year. Plus they signed Travis Outlaw to a 5 year 35 million dollar deal.
Just food for thought, if Boozer doesn't reneg on his oral promise to the Cavs back in the day, do you think James would have won at least one championship by now?
I'd say yes. Adding him would have at least got them past Howard and the Magic last year, and I think they'd have beaten the Lakers as well.

They had a good core with Courtney Lee, Lopez, Harris and Favors with tons of cap space. Plus they will be moving to Brooklyn in two years. They gave away good players in CDR and Yi to free up more space. Why not wait to sign Outlaw?

What free agents are left? None of the top ones showed any interest. LeBron, Lee, Felton, Shaq and Mike Miller are left. The Nets up until now without a miracle got shutout.

They offered Boozer 5 years 75 million and he took 5 years 80 million from the Bulls.

That core outside of Favors won a grand total of 12 games last year. I am sure the top players told the Nets to clear up cap space for 2 max deals. Nets didn't clear it up. Wade and Bosh wanted to play in Miami the whole entire time. Amar'e wanted to be the Man on the Knicks. Joe Johnson,Dirk, Rudy Gay and a couple of others all signed on their own teams.

Alright, so with a couple hours to go, what's everyone's final prediction?

I'm guessing Lebron stays in Cleveland. As someone else noted earlier, a 1 hour special with reasons why he stayed etc. would boost his image, while holding it to say he's leaving would be a knock on his rep and piss off a lot of people.

Wouldn't be shocked if he goes to Miami though with all the buzz today. Feel it's probably a red herring personally though.
I wonder if James does in fact leave Cleveland, will he be as hated as Art Modell?
No.

Modell ripped our still beating hearts directly out of our chests by stealing the Browns. LeBron leaving would hurt A LOT; our local economy and our passion as sports fans (even though our teams generally suck, we are a sports city without a shadow of a doubt).

I don't want LeBron to leave, but we've lost our stars before and we always come crawling back. The only thing I will hold against LeBron is that he could have signed a longer contract when he was a RFA and players on the fringe of signing with us in the meantime wouldn't have had to doubt how long they would have had him as a teammate. Just like when Thome signed with Philly, it will break our hearts to see him leave, but you're an idiot if you take it personally that he is choosing what he feels is the best path for him.

Both good points :applause:, so at least we know one Cleveland sports fan that will not be rioting or jumping in the Cuyahoga or Lake Erie if Lebron leaves.

As far as where he ends up:

1. Cleveland
2. Chicago
3. New York
4. Miami
5. New Jersey

He should go to New York AND take Cleveland with him.

Then Cleveland would Merge with New York and spawn the creation of NEW CLEVELAND.

Seriously guys, its a Win/Win situation for all.

EDIT: Never mind, this guy right here...he knows whats up.:D
If James really wanted to win and create a Mega Team, he should just go to the Lakers and take the MLE.

Throw everyone for a curveball. Lakers would be the lock to win the Title the next 5 years.
I'll buy into the day's news and say he's going to Miami. If he was staying in Cleveland, he would be holding this press conference somewhere in Ohio.

This. :applause:

My biggest gripe is not with Bron at all...its with the people who think he owes the world all of these things. He has given the Cavs everything he had for 7 years.

If he wants to go....let him. It sucks but you were the one that couldnt put a team around him.

Twitter.com/samamiconba Take that for what it's worth.

SAS is trying to cover his ass acting like a curveball has been tossed.

How funny would it be if the entire power grid for the whole US went down before the commercial break is over?

That'd be the greatest thing ever.

fuck no it wouldn't it's :hot: as hell out!
the cheap?
Considering the terrible contracts that were handed out recently 80 mil for Boozer isn't bad.
Was JJ worth 119 million? Was Rudy Gay worth 83? Gooden for 32?

80 million for Boozer isn't bad at all. I was expecting him to ask for a max since all the other stars were getting locked up by other teams. Bulls could have gotten desperate and gave him whatever he wanted but we got him for a decent price.

First 10 minutes my ass.

evildeadjedi, you seem like a classy guy. I hope the power doesn't cut out for you. That way, you can tell us all what he said when it eventually does drop out. ;)
So anti-climatic thanks to rumors. Hope wwe is eating this up too. Cleveland won't be winning shit for a long time.
I think he is committing Seppuku right now

Him and wildcpac both. It's been more than 30 seconds since anyone heard from them. Check their rooms.

Muahahahhahaahahah.

So what happened New York? I thought no one could resist the power of New York city? Congrats on simply replacing David Lee with Amare who is virtually the same things. You will suck ass next year.

I actually like this team up. If the C's can do it why cant the Heat? I am sure winning rings will sooth Brons soul for the the time he is there.

I'm comforting Wildc right now. He's doing better than one would hope. At least he got Stoudemire, right?

Lebron took the easy way out and has accepted to be Robin to Wade's Batman.

fuck that egomaniac. Mr I want a challenge so I go join the dream team. What a fucking pussy. He just put a 10000000 dollar hit out on himself among Cavs fans.

Robin? Lebitch is Batgirl. The ugly Raptor is Robin.

Nevermind, what Wildc said.

Me and you, we can be online buds. Sorry about your loss though, hopefully you guys can recover soon and get back to contending or at least having winning seasons. :)

The C's were a team of mature players who were willing to egos aside for the greater good because they had to. Also, they had a pretty decent supporting cast behind them during the last few years.

Miami is going to be able to afford shit and dirt respectively with the cap-room left.
