2010 World Cup Netherlands vs Spain
Some dude from Stardock developed a Devuvuzelator for watching the World Cup sans bullshit.

So random, and so awesome.
The vast majority of the world shouldn't have to resort to such bullshit measures just so we can watch the World Cup without getting an headache. I don't give a crap if its their culture to blow those horns. Its the World Cup not the South African Cup. I'd be okay with them being blown after goals but come on they don't need to blow them the entire fucking game.

BAN THEM FIFA.

Well, I've been hearing that FIFA is having a lot of problems down in South Africa crime wise. Apparently there have been some stuff that's been hushed up and most of the media news outlets are refusing to run negative stories about the world cup. If true it might be a while before we see South Africa host the cup again.

But all this is hearsay and may in fact be a huge pile of bullshit.

Also transportation and organization in general have been huge disasters apparently.

Lol, just noticed that the ref that screwed the US team is the 4th ref in the Italy - New Zealand match. I thought this guy was done for this cup.

New Zealand should have won that one. Ref called a BS penalty.

The commentators on Univision were pretty much tearing the ref to pieces for what they felt was favoritism towards the Italians.

Kind of a shame the second Brazil goal should have not counted as it was nicely done but... Great second half with a little bit of roughness at the end. Kaka messed up though he probably doesn't care if he misses the next game.

Aside from the CIV player misplacing the injury (your chest is not your face) Kaka was content on taking a small shot at the unsuspecting player.

I hate how I keep missing most of the games. But the ones I have watched have been good so far.

Really upset that Cameroon got axed...I always root for them because Jamaica sucks so much balls and never qualify.
What was up with the second yellow card on Kaka?
He committed the cautionable offence of getting randomly plowed into from behind. :p

Yeah, he probably would have sat, or only played a half, anyway. No need to play the stars when they've already clenched moving on.

Overall I think the refs have been good. Especially when it comes to off-sides calls. They've been top notch in that department. Just a few games where the main ref has been a letdown.

What's the damn song/chant they play before going to commercial?

It lasts like....5 seconds. I can never understand what they say

A shame Kaka lost his head in that one play. The acting on that Ivory Coast player was about as good as Uruguay's Suarez. Drop like a rock, and hold your face (while peaking through your fingers) to make sure the player gets the card. Effing shame. Won't miss the Ivory Coast, as it's just another team full of stars that can't play together.

The Italians got lucky again, and may actually make it on to the next round, thanks to awful officiating.
Not a good day to be a North Korean football fan.

Damn.
Its all good. I am sure the government will tell their people that North Korea beat Portugal 7-0.

Ivory Coast better bring their offense if they want a chance to advance. North Koreans better stop that from happening or I don't even want to think about what would happen to them when or if they return home.
Is it true a couple of players from North Korea went missing (defected)? Maybe it was their best players.
I hadn't heard that.

Their best player (and really only player of any note) is Jong Tae-Se, who's not even really North Korean (he was born in the South and lives and plays in Japan) so wouldn't really have any need to defect since he chose to play for them. He definitely played today, not that it did them any good.

Thats kinda of dumb to play for Nkorea

I suppose from a soccer standpoint it makes some sense - he was the best player on that team whereas on South Korea or Japan he probably wouldn't have been. Definitely gets him some exposure (I believe he's trying to play in Europe, he was with Blackburn Rovers recently, not sure how long he will be). As for why someone would choose on a personal level to represent that country when they have other options, I don't get it either.

Maybe he was paid a large sum of money to play for them?

players playing for different countries happens a ton. Look at today's portugal game. Liedson and Deco are both Brazillian. I think it a matter of playing time and being able to play in the World Cup. Liedson and Deco are not good enough to be on Brazil but can be good enough to play on Portugal and see playing time.

even look at the German squad, Cacau is Brazillian, Miroslav Klose and Lukas Podolski both come from Polish provinces.

so besides playing time...i have no clue either to why players choose to represent a specific country.

Well, those choosing to play for German instead of Poland makes sense as they're great players and want to be on teams with a chance of winning the Cup.

It's odder when one chooses to play for a lesser team--and pretty much seems like it has to be for playing time or money.

We lost but at least we didnt get rocked 7-0 like Korea did. Im not sure what Korea was thinking today but they played so well against Brazil.

yeah of course but I was just coming up with examples of players of different countries playing for a different country...I am sure enough Deco and Lieberson would play for Brazil if chosen for Brazil but they opted for Spain because there is a better chance for them to see WC action and to add to their caps.

Spain should have had tons of goals today. This could hurt them if it comes down to goal differential....but i think for them its win and get in too?

if spain wins, theyre in. they would be tied points wise with chile and (possibly) switzerland. but beating chile would result in them overtaking chile in any tie breakers.

ah i see...so i guess its a race not to play brazil than.

yeah kinda. i mean you never know. switzerland could come out of nowhere and overtake spain in tie breakers. and portugal could pull the upset and win their group. but most likely #2 in group H will play brazil.

its a little slow at work right now. so heres what every team needs. i think i have everything covered...

Halftime for Group A: 1-0 Uruguay over Mexico, 2-0 South Africa over France.

Unlikely scenario but South Africa could actually advance out of the group stage if France rolls over and dies even more than they have up to this point.

I'm embarrassed to be a France fan after the performance they've put on in this WC, on and off the pitch. Then again, with the embarrassing way they qualified, perhaps I should have expected it.

Edit: Of course they scored while I was typing that, but my point stands.

Yeah, I'm sure Ireland has been switching between anger that they were robbed of a spot, then laughter that the team that robbed them self-destructed, then anger again that what should have been their spot was completely wasted.
