$3.99 Anime DVDs @ Big Lots

I visited my local Big Lots today, and there were lots of anime titles for $3.99. These were mainly Pioneer/Geneon titles.

I remember seeing:

Ai Yori Aoshi
A Little Snow Fairy Sugar
Sherlock Hound
Soul Taker
Lupin
Zoids
Mao-Chan
Hamtaro
Sol Bianca
Captain Herlock
Magical Project S
El Hazzard, the Wanderers
Heat Guy J

Unfortunately, I already had quite a few of these titles. But for anyone that doesn't own these titles and has these stocked at Big Lots near them, this is a really good deal!

The only DVD I ended up getting was Gungrave Volume One since I wouldn't mind starting that series/watching some of it and then deciding on it. Besides, it was only $3.99.

Your selection looks a lot like the one near me. I was surprised there was a Big Lots within a 10 mile radius.

Sorry for rehashing an old thread, but it appears that they are back with new titles. I just returned from a Big Lots and they had new anime DVDs in for $3.99.

I'm sure there was more at one time as the supply looked small like I got to the sale late.
 
The two Big Lots in my town cut their dvd stock way down a year or so ago and each only have a very small rack. The only anime I've seen there is Hamtaro and I think a Zoids once. Hopefully they got some this round, I'll have to swing by if I'm out this weekend.

Yep.

Add G-Savior and Blue Submarine (Toonami edition) full lenght movies to the list of DVDs.
 
Meltylancer 2, Arjuna 3, and Saber Marionette J to X 6, Superior Defender Gundam Force 1,2,3 - that's all I saw there. I asked an employee if they had any more in the back and she said what they had was all out but they were expecting a truck this coming week and it's supposed to be a big load. I guess I'll check back this week sometime.
 
Finally got some stuff I was looking for. Since it seems like they restock every so often, I checked out two local Big Lots this week and got:

Battle of the Stars 3
Battle of the Stars II 3

Was hoping to come across Magical Project S 1 (since I got 2 from the KB clearance for a buck), and some other titles, but I'll be checking my Big Lots now every couple weeks or so to see if they get new titles in.
 
I did find Galaxy Angel - Vol. 2 for $3.99, which is one I was about to order online for about $10 + shipping. So, it was worth the stop! Didn't see anything else of interest to me, though.

Found 1 & 2 of .Hack//Sign today. All I need is the rest of the series (how long does it go for again?), but I think my Fry's sells the rest for $5.99 or $6.99

There are 6 volumes, I believe. 1-5 have been reported in this sale.
I was bummed 'cuz I found Vol. 2 at one of mine but the case was somewhat mutilated and the disc was free-floating inside. So I passed.

Visited my Big Lots on Sunday... nothing. Only thing they had left were Hamtaro and SD Gundam DVDs that were there a month ago. The only decent anime DVD deal I've ever found there(not to diss my main man Hamtaro, yo) was a random volume of Sherlock Hound.

However, there was one good thing about the trip: They had 99 cent Warner Bros tapes. I bought the Justice League movie and 2001: A Space Odyssey for myself. They also had The Matrix movies and some other films for those interested.

ex-Driver: The Movie!! Great price! I already have the 2 OVA volumes. Everywhere I have seen it only it was over $20. Gonna check Big Lots shortly.

Grico, they had one more Lupin (I think it was vol. 7).

Actually, Vol 1 is the ONLY one i dont need, any other volumes are fair game

You sure it's BotS II - Vol 1? I've been looking for that! I got Vol 3 last restock in Dec.

I went back to my local BL tonight and grabbed Gungrave Vol. 1. Don't know why I didn't just grab it the first go around. Luckily it was still there.

Kuma: As for Gungrave, Vol. 1 is the only one that's been reported seen at BL thus far.
 
I found both LE's of Lupin Vol. 7 & 8 at my Big Lots, but they didn't have Vol. 9. They had two Vol. 8's left when I was done.

Yup its Banner of the Stars 2 volume 1 Hunters. I picked it up when i saw it in there like a month ago. It's still sealed, haven't even watched it yet. I'd be willing to trade it if you want. I shouldn't start a series with series 2 really.
 
I had gone to like 5 biglots a while back, a couple in a different state even and sadly, not even any DVDs from what I saw.

I've tried tons of those too. Only found one in Pennsylvania that had a few DVDs. Apparently the Dollar Generals around here only carry VHS in general. :roll:

I was checking the store locator and there is a Big Lots in Eden, NC and Danville, VA. Those are close to me and I'll probably go out to check them tomorrow. I'll look for Gungrave volumes.

If anyone else wants me to check for anything particular just let me know before 10 am tomorrow. That's probably when I will head out.
 
Awesome price for Terminator 2 and I know that both editions (Ultimate and extreme) are supposed to be great. Did it come with the metal slip case? If it did, then that's a hell of a bargain.

Looking at my dvd shelf I actually do have Lupin volumes 7-9, so no but thanks. I hadn't realized I had picked up the carless versions of 8 and 9

I'll look for Magical Project S V1 when I head out to some other Big Lots stores tomorrow.
 
Man, the other Big Lots had almost nothing.

The Eden, NC Big Lots had one each of the 7, 8, and 9 of the Lupin volumes. It also had a Beyblade and .hack Twilight volume 1, but the .hack case was broken badly.

The Danville, Va one only had one copy Vampire Miyu 4 and that was it.
