sam goody at the dullas towncenter in sterling, va.. walked in yesterday... looked like its been cleaned out sans a few cd's/dvds. Picked up two cd soundtracks, Resident Evil 4 (Non Players Choice), an xbox gameshark (or whatever), NFSMW PC game (15 bucks!). They have 1 xbox 360 12 month starter kit for 35 bucks!...since I dont have a 360 and it will be years before I get one, i didn't pick it up (since the experation is sometime next year, and like i said, years before I get one as i didn't get my first xbox til last month)..

I was going to get all three LOTR movies for 10 bucks a pop, but they didn't have ROTK so I skipped it.

Other dvds, well there wasn't anything I wanted. Even with 50 percent off, I still could get around that price at best buy.

The store had other *junk* and the gothic chick doesn't know shit so shes useless. Anyways.. They are already selling the shelvings, 100 bucks for a small wall section, 10 bucks for a metal cd holder.

Looks like the good stuff was sold during its 30%-40% sale. :( Oh well at least I got my first xbox for 130$ and my first DS for 90$ I don't expect to see the store opened for more than 2 weeks after that.

the guy at my suncoast said they were going to perminently close in mid april, so grab everything you can, or if you can risk it until then lol

Keep an eye out for the weekly DVD ads, occasionally one of the companies will put all three movies (not the extended cuts) out for $10 each.

wherehouse.com has the extended versions for $14.99 used. That's a really good deal, especially since they're probably mint.
 
Just got back from the SG in Montgomery Mall (Rockville, MD). Still had a lot of games, but completely overpriced even for 50% off. I picked up a few music DVDs and CDs (Def Lepard Hysteria DVD, HIM "Dark Light" LE CD, The Mission UK DVD, Blink 182 DVD, Judas Priest DVD) for $12 apiece. They still had quite a few DVDs and CDs, but like I said a $19.99 CD at 50% off is not a deal IMO.
 
like i said before, the best stuff was sold at 30%-40% week(s).. I saw on one of the shelves behind the counter a sign saying something like "list of businesses looking for employees" and it was abunch of cards that no one cared about.

its too bad the employee's horded the psps as it would have been nice..but my ds and xboxs were a good catch. :)

I would not be suprised if some kids try to grab and run as much crap as they can.
 
sorry if this has been mentioned, but when are these stores closing down. I won't be anywhere near a closing Sam Goody until around April 7th/8th

I am not sure if there is a franchise wide close date, because some have closed already and others are still open. From what I have heard, the general time period for most stores to close is between April 1 and April 14
 
Not much left @ my store, but managed to pick up some DS Screen Protectors for $2.5 and my girlfriend got Chicago: Razzle Dazzle Edition for $15.

They had a couple PS2 Network Adaptors, but at $25 after discount I couldn't justify it.

or I can always wait til a blue ray/HD-DVD version of the movies comes out on one disc..but knowing peter jackson we might get an even more extended edition with each movie clocked at 4 hrs each :O...he will claim fans will love it and take it in like candy...but for me i think i will throw up on that one.
 
Just returned from my Sam Goody's in Joiliet, IL, and got Tiger Woods 06 for 20 bucks and Night of the living dead for 3.50. The only things the store seem to have in abundance was The Godfather part II ($10) and World Champioship poker ($10).
Tv boxset of West Wing were priced at 60 bucks and the clearance prices seem to not apply to box sets according to the signs in the store.
They also had a 5 inch lcd for PS2 for 65 bucks is that a good deal?
 
Garbage left at the Sam goody at the mckinley mall in buffalo ny, all overpriced stuff and nothing worth purchasing even with the 50% discount. I do believe that they are honoring the 50% off price on boxsets though.
 
That sucks, CDs and DVDs went up to "60% if you buy 4 or more" and Games went up to an unconditional 60%. I was hoping everything would go up 10% unconditionally(wanted some game accesories) but whatever.

Conditional 60% off here. I think I'll wait until the store is closing, honestly, there just isn't very much I need, just stuff I'd like to have.
 
Yesterday I managed to get Half-Life 2 (Xbox), Darkwatch (PS2), Fatal Frame 2: Director's Cut (Xbox), and Guilty Gear Isuka (PS2) for $11.99 a piece. I also got Shaun of the Dead for $7.49, and I splurged and got the Necromonicon version of Evil Dead 2 for $19.99. I love that movie. :) I got a few shirts too for around $3.00 a piece. And to carry it all, an AC/DC "messenger" bag for $7.99.

A very nice haul from two Sam Goody's, IMO, along with the Astro Boy: Complete Series I got earlier.
 
Looks like the local Suncoast is singing the swan song too :( I thought it was kind of strange when the shelf for pre-orders behind the register's counter disappeared, but at that time there were no signs posted around the store that announced the store closing... now there is :(

It's only at 20%-40% off though.
 
picked up a chun li ps2 sf2 controller for like 8 bucks after tax in roosevelt field, LI. Nothing else worthwhile...oo an antigrav with eyetoy for $18 was okay too
 
Well, I stopped by the Pioneer Place Sam Goody again yesterday since I was downtown and had some time to kill. As I reported in another thread, everything's 60-80% off, and even though half of the store is closed off, they still have a lot of CDs and DVDs left. The game section is starting to get pretty empty though, and most of the good stuff is gone.

However, I did get a copy of Sigma Star Saga (GBA) that I didn't notice when I was there the day before for $12. Kinda surprised nobody beat me to it. It was the last GBA game they had, too.
 
The Sam Goody in International Plaza in Tampa, FL is now at 60%, but there's barely anything left at all in games. They have a ton of "Gun" for all systems, but it's 60% off $50 making it $20 and it can be had for $15 or less elsewhere. Only 3rd party accessories and crappy games left for the most part.

They still have a lot of PSP movies and some decent Anime DVDs and soundtracks, but that's about it.

I bought some Sailor Moon and WWE DVDs for around $7.50 to $9.99 each, so there's a few scraps left.

Dullas Towncenter mall in sterling,va 60 % off...but at this point only table scraps are left. Today is there last day. Last night I picked up a 2.1 speaker system for my computer, Unreal Championship for 12 bucks, 2 dvd movies and some retro remake of classic games for the DS. Im gonna swing by today to see if I can get some fixtures for free hehe :p

Went there over the weekend, the store is basically cleaned out. All the good stuff that was behind the registers are now gone. Only things left game wise are a bunch of RF Adapters for Xbox, some sports games for Xbox, and behind the register they had KOF Max. Impact, and some PC games. It's also at 60%/80%
 
Someone who has the power might want to add "City Center Sam Goody, (Downtown) Minneapolis, MN" to the list. I don't know the exact address. But you see, this is an isolated case and they only decided to close down about 2 weeks ago so as of last Friday, it was still only 25%-50%, and mostly the crap like greeting cards and game guides were 50% off. It'll be another 2-3 weeks before they reach 40% minimum.
 
went by the sam goody near me and it was at 70% off so i picked up crest of the stars, Ultra Maniac (or whatever its called), Aquarian Age movie box ^_^
not much else less

Sorry my bad actually I was mis informed by the dumb gothic employee, last saturday WASN'T the last day for the store, its actually this upcoming friday
the 14th. At this point there is NOTHING left but fixtures. Practially EVERY TV DVD box set and Anime DVD is GONE :| I will swing by tomorrow or thursday to see what is given out for free but dont expect much.

damn, when i saw them on the shelf they were jacked at 130-140 a season then apply there percentage off. Where as BB had it for 100 bucks the first week, then took it to 109/120 or so the following week. But then a few months back they really burned me when they dropped it to like 40 bucks for a week! GRRRR.

Side note if anyone sees Seasons 2 or 3 for about $40ish I will gladly compensate them for picking up a copy.

It took a very long time, oh yes, but Sam Goody is finally suffering for refusing to fulfill my online order for Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles for $14.99 in late 2003. Well, in, the end, Goody Got It all right.
