GBC Mario Golf is THE SHIT!!!!

Also thanks for the heads-up on those micro-SD cards on sale today, got one in anticipation for the New Hotness.

Good point. I'll get one and let you know. I wonder how people will overuse a single player RPG though haha
I like the demo. Fun but a little slow. Might play it twice definitely not 30 times. Might be interested in a set of the player cards if you pick up some extras.

Six of one and all three are among the best brands and I would have bought whichever one of those (or a couple others like Transcend or Lexar) went to $10-12 first since they all exceed what the 3DS will ask of it. The card that's on sale is the equivalent of Sandisk's Ultra branded cards or Samsung's Evo branded ones.

Also, this is on that link. We can wirelessly transfer photos and stuff with the New 3DSXL?

  • What is the newly added function microSD Management used for?

By connecting your PC and New Nintendo 3DS or New Nintendo 3DS XL system via the same a wireless network access point, you can copy music and other files from a PC to your system's microSD card, or copy photo data from your microSD card to a PC via a wireless network access point..

I was going to buy one of those Sony cards that are on sale...until I found this link.

http://www.nintendo.com.au/new-nintendo-3ds/qa/index.html

Shows only a handful of more expensive 32GB micro SD cards working with the New 3DSXL. :whistle2:k

Edit: It seems like those same cards are also the ones listed for the regular 3DS.

Ignore that nonsense. The Sony is no different than the SanDisk they're pushing for a fee. Nintendo gets paid for saying that and those cards are complete overkill.

The theme shop is found in the same menu where you change themes; top left corner of the Home Menu. The only free theme so far is Sonic Boom.
thanks, hah. Of course the only free one is for a terrible terrible game.

sigh, I tune into this thread every now and then hoping earthbound goes on sale, has it gone on sale yet?

Wrong thread for Earthbound but no, it has not.
was about to ask, is that even on 3ds? Ive been waiting on earthbound to go on sale but think its just Wii-u

If only. I'd GBA and SNES games were on 3DS I would just sign my checking account over to Nintendo.

Yeah, I ended up just buying the Amazon Sony deal. 32GB micro SD for $11.99. Ordered that and a new screen protector for my MM 3DSXL. We'll see if I really get it from Best Buy, but my order hasn't been canceled yet.

Any opinions on Yugioh? I loved the old ones (Especially the Championships/Tournaments), but I heard this one is gimped to hell with no Online.

But if its still fun I might bite on it.
I just played a little right now. I'm gonna compare it to "Over the Nexus", which was the last DS game we got.

You can't customize your character. It's just that default 'red looking' character.

You have access to 3 of every card in the library, so you can build your dream deck right away. That means there is no earning money or cards from winning duels and no booster pack buying.

There are 2 main modes. Story mode, and free duel. In story mode which had the most cut content, you play as one of the main characters and follow their story as they go through the tournament.

You don't walk around like an RPG. It's just an overworld with icons that you select to challenge people to duels. After a few wins, you get an event duel where you duel a specific character and there's some story bits. And so on.

They have pretty good pre-built decks, but you can edit them as you like. In story mode, you don't have access to the complete library of cards. But it's still plenty for you to work with.

Free duel is you just make your own deck and you duel the story characters. You have access to all the cards and you can even turn off the forbidden cards list.

Graphics are pretty much the same as previous DS games. The card art isn't too clear, but you can read the card name and description on the side.

The AI seems to think a little faster. I haven't noticed the enemy turn taking too long but during longer duels or against stronger/complex decks it might take longer.

In terms of content, it has a lot less than Over the Nexus. It's really a shame they cut so much out of story mode since it seems to have a heavy focus on the different character's individual stories. And they pretty much removed the need to unlock content, giving you all the cards/card sleeves/mats right from the getgo. That'll cut down replay value quite a bit. On the plus side, it has the most cards of any current yugioh game(minus Arc-V tag force which just came out, don't know if we'll get that one).

For $13, I think it's an okay buy if you like yugioh, and wanna try out the new cards and xyz monsters(which are really easy to summon). The main draw is having access to all the cards and playing yugioh on your 3DS. If we don't get the new tag force, it's not like we have a choice either way if you wanna use the newest card list.

So can anyone vouch for Mario golf 3DS? I know first party Nintendo games don't always drop much in price. Both GBC and 3DS titles are tempting, other than the obvious price difference, I think the online tournaments are more appealing.

Well comparing the two they're different games.

The GBC one plays like the old GB Golf game but with the RPG stuff on top. The 3DS one plays more like recent Mario sports titles and doesn't have any of the RPG stuff.

Thanks, guess I'm just wondering if the 3ds version will drop lower or if now is a good time to bite. $2.50 for the GBC version is worth adding to the backlog pile.

I predict the GBC Mario Golf will be available from Club Nintendo next week
It may be, it was a reward in the past. I think it was very recent though (maybe last month?) the last time it was available through CN. May affect it, may not. But we're all just guessing what will be on CN for the end. Worth considering off you have an excess of coins, not s easy s with Zelda that already was on CN when it went on sale.

I just want to point out here that the card list in World Duel Carnival is acfually a couple years out of date, which in the "Yugiverse" is a pretty huge amount of time. The biggest omission is how the newest summoning mechanic, Pedulum Summon, is completely nonexistent in this game.

What if your only knowledge of third was when the TV show came out here on WB?

Point taken. I misspoke when I said "newest". Most recent list available to us on the 3DS is more like it.

I still haven't wrapped my head around pendulum summoning yet. Well I haven't been keeping up with the anime.

Mario Golf 3DS does the job and not much else. It plays like a half-cocked half-scrapped RPG game, which is unusual considering the satisfying amount of course content you have access to and the truly robust online tournament feature. You basically just do one course to set your handicap, then three courses as your Mii and that's all the normal golf you do and your Mii's story is over congrats your winnar. Then you quit that RPG crap and go back to the main menu and play as Mario doing minigames like ring shot or match play to unlock the Mario funhouse courses. There's a anal-rape-hard one-on-one-in minigame that unlocks another course but you ain't clearing that anytime soon.

I like it but something feels missing. Everything is too precise, too clean. Usually you just take the recommended shot or club up for another 10 yards and swing away, add top-spin or back-spin if you feel a lack of confidence in your placing. Sometimes you need to deal with wind but it just feels like an "aim left or right a bit" thing with headwinds and tailwinds more or less being meaningless. That's just may mean I have out-leveled golf games as a reliable source of entertainment. But I still can't imagine this having any place in a collection apart from cell-phone-game-esque time waster.

Utopianmachine and I seem to have completely opposing preferred styles of video game tastes yet it seems more often than not that if Utopian doesn't like a game, I won't either.

Needless to say kiss the $5 I spent on Undead Storm Nightmare down the drain. Monster Hunter style grind is barely tolerable in MonHun and Gunvolt. You don't need it in a glorified Iphone game.

So logically that means the only possible true statement from that is that you both hate all games.

Yes, I totally took the time to make a diagram of it.

I'm obligated by law to tell you that Ghost Recon Shadow Wars is an awesome game from the creator of XCOM and is basically Fire Emblem with more of a modern military aesthetic.

Now you have my interest in this one.

I'll echo what Frisky said - Shadow Wars is great and easily worth $20, it's a steal at $7.50. Great game to have digital, too. Lots of content, with different difficulties for each level and a ton of skirmish non-story missions that get unlocked if you truly can't get enough of the game.

There ARE a few silly glitches where I tried to rush objectives and be clever, and a level or two became unwinnable because of it / required me to start over. It was maddening after spending 30 minutes on a map but it only happened once or twice, so I still highly recommend it.

Infuriating. "I'll NEVER burn through $100 in Nintendo credit. No sense stocking up more than that." Damn you Nintendo. No deals on it right now either.

I will say I part ways with Utopian or whoever liked Fairune. That shit should have stayed on Iphone and even on Iphone it's low tier.

I'll also chime in on Shadow Wars. Although I wouldn't heap as much praise on it as you guys. I got it for cheap and it was a solid game. I can recommend it for < $10. It's not as good as xcom or fire emblem. But it does what it set out to do fairly well.

Since I don't know what Fairune is, it must not be me. Phew.

Looked it up. It looks...short. I can't really tell what you're supposed to be doing. The battle mechanic looks like you're just running over enemies.
