Steam world dig was well worth the 5 bucks I paid but Heist is a little steep. I wish there was a demo (there isn't one is there?).

Everyone got Steamworld Dig for like .50 cents and that was all it was worth lol now they want to charge $18 for the next game get real bros
U R LIES

People loved Steamworld Dig (even at full price), and there are folks saying Heist is a contender for game of the year, or would/should be.

SteamWorld Heist is supposed to something like 20 hours long not including side missions or New Game+, which seems pretty good for an 2D XCOM or Codename STEAM-style strategy shooter.

how long it last you if you beat it.. Already have it on my kindle and tab 4 that is why i was hoping it was 2..... 4 is still sort of high
I know I've put over 30 hours into Adventure Bar Story. My bar is level 9 out of 10, I think, but I've got to do a fair bit of grinding. Around bar level 7 or so I realized I had to grind, that is, cook a lot of food to boost my heroes. You get to a point in the game where you can really just buy the food you need, cook it, feed it to your heroes, make a profit in the store, and repeat. They can only eat so much per day. I think my main heroes are nearly level 40. There are a bunch of places in the game I can't get to yet, and I look forward to being able to. I like the battle system, although like any turn-based battle system, it does get repetitive.

Still, I've enjoyed the game. The story is light -- just a girl trying to save her restaurant from being bought by a bigger restaurant. Characters enter here and there, new areas open up. New monsters to fight, new story tidbits. It's addictive. "Just a little further. Just going to grab a few more materials..."

Well, I think I finally hit a wall in Pokemon Picross.  I used the last of my picrites to open area 6, now some of the missions need three pokemon to complete all at once (use two grass pokemon and use 1 ability that isn't the grass ability was the first one I encountered).  It would be 50 to unlock another slot, 90-100 to unlock world 7 (which can be unlocked at the same time as 6), and I don't know how many to unlock the alt world.  Oh, and I need 500 to unlock a mega pokemon picross.  I'll probably play through what's left in 6, clean up some older missions, but it looks like the only way to get more picrites after that is through training, or for money.  Is that right?

That seems to be the case. After you've fulfilled every possible mission you can complete, you can come back for daily training. Maybe those rare Pokemon that pop up on some days offer picrites if you catch them? So checking in every day may be good, but yeah, blocking the Mega Pencil and stuff behind huge picrite costs makes me want to quit playing. Maybe just go back and pick up my old copy of Picross 3D.

SteamWorld Dig was fantastic.  I played through that on Vita.  I loved the strategy of digging along with the upgrades and uncovering new bosses and stuff.

SteamWorld Heist... I was very interested in it, but upon closer inspection (reading about it, watching a trailer on the eshop) I think it might not be my kind of game.   It just looks boring.  I was going to make this a blind buy just because Dig was so much fun... but I think I can wait for it.

Dig was enjoyable, but there was very little difficulty in the game. I had little to no problem finding everything and getting all the upgrades in the game before the endgame which made the final boss a cakewalk. It's worth a fiver.

Medals give you 3 a pop for doing random stuff like clearing a certain number of levels, placing a certain number of blocks, using a skill 50 times, etc. There's only 100 of those, though. You might also run into Mythical stages that pop up at random in certain areas and have their own missions, but other than that, yeah, daily training or pay for them.

For those on the fence, Heist is fantastic. I like turn-based strategy games, but I don't seek them out. With that said, I could absolutely see this game appealing to someone who has never played or enjoyed that style of game. There is a skill aspect with aiming shots, and it has the same addictive loot-and-upgrade system as Dig. If you enjoyed Dig, have $17 to spare, and want to try out a unique game, pick it up. It's worth the price of admission.

I'm satisfied with all my Super Mario World badges. I got a lot of free plays and purchased ten plays, so I got pretty much everything I wanted. And they go great with my custom SMW theme.

Just reached the thrilling conclusion of Persona Q. Expertly put together game with a beautiful, bouncy UI and a LOT of random dialogue about every single little thing but since it's Persona characters talking it never gets annoying.

The actual game? Not nearly as good as Etrian. Lots of irritating little balance issues here and there that I could write forever about but none of you will read or understand because you are plebs who don't understand games. Also the fourth dungeon is trash. Everyone and their dog will always say a dungeon in this game or that game is trash and they're usually wrong but in this case it's true. About half of every floor in it is devoted to incredibly tedious walkabout puzzles that require you to schlep from one end of the map to the next and back again just to ATTEMPT it and I hope you get it right on the first try or else you're walking all over again. Since encounters are every 8-16 steps, lololol.

Beyond that, it's expertly presented and beautiful from tip to toes. If you can set aside the issues (I know a couple of you thought P4 had good dungeons so I know you all already have no problem with problems in your games.), you'll have a blast.

Prior Persona knowledge isn't hugely required but you should at least have played ONE of the two games featured (P3 or P4) just to get some familiarity with these loveable buffoons.

The developer and his mom don't count, okay?

Finally the Gastly evolution tree has arrived! Unfortunately I only managed to get 1 free play today. I need a 2 play day to clear out the ghost Pokemon stage I think.

o wait a few months and see if its free on psn+

12 hours seems very low for a 18 buck game

Whelp. I gave Nintendo $.99 for Pokemon Picross. There was a rare Pokemon in the next area, but I used up all my energy trying to clear the stages before it. So by the time my energy replenishes, it will be gone, and/or I won't have enough time to beat the stage. :whistle2:k

You can start a puzzle with 0 energy and just close the lid for an hour or two while the energy refills. There's no penalty for that. Even works with the rare pokemon I believe.

What are you talking about? It has ALWAYS said Steamworld Heist. There's no way there could ever be a mistake like that. You are clearly insane!

Well, it the last day for the Mario 2 badges in the Arcade.  I got most of the ones I wanted, but it would have been easier if I had gotten absolutely any special badges out of the practice catcher at all the whole time they were available.  I could put down a dollar to get some more, but I just noticed they're all labeled as NES Remix instead of properly Super Mario Bros 2, and that just irks me.

Didn't get the 3 free yesterday? I had 5 free pulls from yesterday (compliments of the ice/slide).

And they are NES Remix and NOT Mario 2 because Mario 2 isn't even Mario 2. It's just a repurposed garbage can rehash because Nintendo thought that Americans couldn't handle the real Mario 2.... thus.... garbage.

And then at the end they pulled a Dallas ".... and he woke up and nothing has changed."

Whoa, really!? I never knew that!

Too bad "real" Mario 2 actually is garbage.

American Super Mario Bros. 2 was awesome. Regardless of whether or not it's actually a Mario game, it was a helluva fun game.
100% agree. I'm glad we didn't get the real SMB2 right away. The additions weren't great and it was basically a hardcore level pack. If that were the follow up here, it would have done some damage to the whole videogame market back then. Remember we were still recovering from the crash that resulted from low quality cash ins, and a sequel to the most popular game that consisted of the exact same game but much harder with some bullshit things added would have pissed off a ton of people that bought the game for their kids.

American SMB2 was a very good game, that looked great at the time, played great and was truly different - but still had a similar flavor to it.

Dang straight... the USA version of SMB2 was exceptional. It still plays great and I was HAPPY to get it early on for the GBA after it came out.

Back in the day I remember a few of the local video rental places had imported & converted copies of Japan's SMB2 and it was garbage compared to what we got. Just more of the same with no leap in quality. USA-SMB2 was a huge leap in graphics for the NES which lead to SMB3 being yet another massive leap with the overworld and actual game graphics.

Had Japan SMB2 came out instead, It would have made the leap to SMB3 that much bigger, but then it probably wouldn't have sold well which probably would have made Nintendo rethink making more games in the series. I don't think it would have tanked the industry as the industry was filled some great third party publishers & devs making some of the game series that would also span from the NES to today's consoles. Stuff like Metal Gear, Castlevania, Final Fantasy, & Mega Man. Still, it could have hurt Nintendo financially.

Wow, I guess I will accept that I'm pretty lonely in the group that didn't care for SMB2.  But, that being said, I'm glad ya'll like it.  I personally think that slapping Mario into it was a lame way to sell a game over here.

To each their own.

But yea, all those old school retro games in the badge catcher right now (SMB2, Metroid, Donkey Kong, Dr. Mario) I believe are listed as NES Remix sets.  Could be wrong as I haven't gotten many of those yet though.

One little known fact that I only recently discovered about American SMB2 is that it actually WAS originally designed as a Mario game. I don't know all the details, but it became Doki Doki Panic ffor some kind of promotional event, then later skinned into SMB2.

I pretty much don't want much else for my 3ds except SMB 2. Love that game, recently watched a friend beat it without Toad during his Extra Life 24 hour marathon.

My system has mostly been collecting dust. Need to stop playing Pokemon Shuffle and concentrate on beating Mario 3D land (stuck on a castle I'm the harder levels).

I don't know why everyone harps on Mario 2's ending. Subcon was completely up front about describing itself as the land of dreams. The entire plot is that Wart stole the machine that created dreams and is using it to create nightmares instead. How else are you supposed to get home from the world of dreams other than waking up, that doesn't mean the adventure never actually happened.

I didn't like it back when I was like 5 but it's one of those that has grown on me over the years.

What's even more hilarious is that he's complaining about the plot of an NES Mario game.

Maybe if I went back. But I hated it when I was a kid so I never bothered to go back after I beat it. It was one of the ones I didn't care for.

Either way, it was a silly subplot... that never got revisited. Even Mario and Luigi Dream Team could have brought it back, but I don't think it ever did. And that was IN DREAMS.

Well it was the plot from an entirely different game so it's to be expected it wasn't a perfect fit.

I really have no idea why Wart and his gang get no love from Nintendo. I'm honestly surprised they even bothered to put them in the Badge Arcade. Aside from the occasional Birdo appearance, they seem completely forgotten.
