Did you know the trick of moving the boss' line of fire with L/R?

Utopian's the one that told me about that when I was getting frustrated with the final boss.
Yeah, I had to look up how to beat the final boss on the internet. You just...you don't don't introduce a new mechanic on a final boss when there is nothing in the entire game to indicate you can do what that boss battle required.

Other than that, had a blast playing it. Will definitely get the sequel.

Super hang on requires a learning curve on the steering as in at its limited to 3, straight, turn, and hard turn, its also a ruthless game to be good at.

Even with this in mind, its still an amazing game to play. The extra bonus is the world course which is a non stop 48 stage endurance run which so far the fastest time people has gotten is between 27-30 minutes
I noticed that - not as many degrees of analog as I'm used to, but it is true to the original game.

earthbound is 9.99 thought they were 7.99

Cross buy discount if I bought it for Wii and Wii U?

Or f you?
It was never released on Wii. SNES VC titles on New 3DS don't have discounts of any kind.

showing as $7.99 from the browser, don't know about the actual eshop.
The price I posted is correct. The website often isn't updated for a bit or can be wrong, so the eShop is the only price to be trusted.

Yeah, every other region gets a discount on the 3ds titles if you owned the wii u version, but of course, we don't.  Nevermind, I though Europe did, but apparently they didn't

I totally want Earthbound and Witch and Hero 2. I have Earthbound on my Wii U from Club Nintendo, but I never turn that thing on. If I had Earthbound on my 3DS, it would absolutely get played. And so would the 40 or games in my 3DS backlog...

There's a special promo going on for early access to that Mini Mario Amiibo game, which will be free anyway by the time it's officially out:

Mini Mario & Friends amiibo Challenge – For a limited time, get a download code for early access to the Mini Mario & Friends amiibo Challenge game. Just buy any amiibo figure from a participating retailer between March 25 and April 27, and you’ll get early access to the game. Download this game for free on your Nintendo 3DS system or Wii U console, then tap any amiibo figure to get started. Click here: http://minimario.nintendo.com.

I'm finding SNES games to look rather BAD on my 3DS.  And by BAD, I mean, they actually look like they did back in 1991, which technically is GOOD in many ways.

It's just that I'm apparently now used to seeing them in true pixel fashion on HDTV rather than through scanlines like on a CRT and apparently a 3DS.

I originally thought SNES looked BAD on HDTV.  Now apparently I prefer it.  Not that I wouldn't love Earthbound on both 3DS and Wii U, but without cross-save... think I'll stick to Wii U for now, where it looks freaking fantastic on both HDTV and gamepad.

With the 3DS' lackluster display and also Nintendo's poor track record with VC releases (NES games look terrible), I wouldn't be surprised if they actually look bad. Interesting that it sounds like they run better on the Wii U gamepad though.

I showed my son the new SNES games and asked which he wanted to try, he out of the blue told me Earthbound.  He said he heard it was good and wanted to play it.  He has been playing it a day and really likes it.  I'm actually kind of proud at 12 he can appreciate a more cerebral game that doesn't depend on whiz bang graphics and sounds.  All his friends (except one) won't give a game the time of day if it doesn't have eye candy.

I was excited that Earthbound was going to be released on the N3DS, until I looked in the store and saw I'd have to buy it again.  I'm surprised and disappointed that there isn't even a discount.  SMH.

Surprised?

Do you even Nintendo?
I agree, how can anyone be surprised by this? This is their MO, and I don't see it changing anytime soon. They know their audience better than anyone, and there is a HUGE section of fans that will buy the same games again and again and thank those clowns for the privilege.

The only way to stop this madness is to tell them with your wallets to go fuck themselves. Sadly, the only ones who fit in this group, are the same ones who think "N" can do no wrong, so it's a catch 22. So as long as consumers buy games over and over, and buy new systems for the ability to play them, they will continue to take your money and smile all the way to the bank.

I've been enjoying Hyrule Legends.  Not sure I'd full price it again but it's a fun little game.  Enough to keep me interested but not enough that I have to pay attention to it constantly.

Surprised I have to buy it again...not exactly. Since there was a discount for re-buying stuff on the Wii U that you owned on the Wii, I'm surprised they didn't offer some discount. Given how quickly they embraced DLC'ing the shit out of their games, I thought maybe they would come into the current year in other ways. However, yes, big N is pretty terrible and greedy. I do talk to them with my wallet, even though it's pretty fruitless.

Yeah, that's another thing that sucks with NoA specifically, I believe a discount was offered to both EU & Japan in regards to these SNES titles, and the US was the only one to not get it. How fuck up is that?

Where I have really started to not like "N" in the last few gens, I must say that most of that hate is directed squarely at NoA. When I was growing up, they where never as good as Japan, as far as overall quality went, but they weren't bad. Even when they did their form of region locking, it was easy to by pass with some tools, are some cheap adapter from a 3rd party. So while they were never the best, they where a pretty good second.

Now, the US office just seems to be doing their best to just piss off fans for no good reasons. Not releasing most of the cool LE sets here, opening a world store in NY where only a small percent of the population can even shop(and where they do release some of the cool LE sets), and where almost 75% of their restocking takes place in the states, game releases are now last here for most big titles, they didn't see fit to release the standard N3DS model here for almost a year, and the list goes on and on. I would so much like to be living in EU right now, as they have had it way better than us for the last several years.

Boy, I really wish they would get their shit together, but it doesn't look like that is happening anytime soon(if EVER!).

The Sega 3D Classic Shinobi III is awesome. Looks like most of the 3DS Fukkoku game is on sale this week. Will have to get a few more eshop bucks.

I know it was mentioned about the Mini Mario & Friends early access but was it mentioned that you can get a scratch off code for the 3DS and Wii U versions at target? They were hanging above the 3DS games at my store.

Here is what it looks like:

Where was this exactly? Because I'm heading to Target in a few and this has been on my "want" list. But not enough to buy MORE Amiibo's for.

This was hanging above the 3DS games at my store like I said in my post. It was free without buying anything.
Good Call.

I got a couple extras in case some of the regulars need one. WIIU and 3DS.

Update: About an hour in. Unlocked 2 worlds so far. I don't see this lasting for much longer though. It's Mario Mini's but these puzzles aren't even that crazy. I do like the Yoshi levels so far.

NOT worth buying more Amiibo for though.

It's a free to play game that'll be out in a few weeks. Not much of a need to rush to get it now.

I guess it's not playable without Amiibo? I don't have any, or much drive to buy some + a reader for my OG 3DS.
It is an Amiibo-based game, so you need at least one figure to play it.

http://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/mini-mario-and-friends-amiibo-challenge-3ds

Ok.  So you need 1 figure to play.  To unlock most worlds you need a Mario Amiibo.  (Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Toad, Princess, Donkey Kong, Diddy, Rosalina, Bowser, Bowser Jr)  Every other Amiibo unlocks a silly box looking Amiibo.  Most things can't be done without the specials as they all have "abilities".  You collect cards that as far as I can tell give you freebie runs with Amiibo.

3 hrs in (plus I ate dinner) I've Gold Trophied all levels except Mario and Toad.  I've gotten all the cards except for those 2 as well.  I'm now working on those.

Update:  5 hrs in.  Opened up a whole new world/area.  Sucks that I needed so many characters to do it.  If I had to have each of these characters to play this game I'd have needed over 100 bucks.

Boy, I wonder why Nintendo is so happy to keep pushing these things out instead of making normal $40 games that cost way more to make...

I feel that way about the entire TTL (toys to life) thing. That's what kills me.

It's not just Skylanders, Amiibo, Infinity, Lego anymore. They have these Playmation characters that cost the same amount. They sit on your shelf and you shoot at them. Then the thing they sit on shoots up and they 'explode'. Full price those suckers are 15 a piece. So many other companies are jumping on the wagon.

I hope they all die off, frankly. I have decided to spend my fortunes on Infinity, but that's because I like them ascetically so once I'm done playing them they're going on a fancy shelf. Skylanders, I sold back after the second set. I gave up. They just kept releasing so many that it's ridiculous. 10 bucks a pop for some DLC.

Nuts I tell you.

BUT, if you were to have all these Amiibo lying around... then this game is a pretty decent sink. I just wouldn't BUY them for this game. But I feel that way about Amiibo in general. The "unlocks" across the board seem to be eh. The one good thing they have going for them is that multiple games you can sometimes re-use characters. Still not often enough for the craze that they've become though.

I don't know if I qualify, but I bought amiibo from both Best Buy and Amazon and got stiffed on the code. If you have a spare, I would be grateful.

LEGO Dimensions is pretty good, but it is way too expensive.
I was trying to figure that out last week. The sets were buy one, get 1 for a penny which breaks down to 50% off. But there wasn't enough info on the boxes to make that decision. I like the IP's they're using but those guys have about 100000 expansion packs and only certain ones contain new "worlds" whatever that means in their terminology.
