I always buy Atlus games as soon as they come out to support Atlus, but when they constantly have sales on games, it makes me sort of think I should wait for sales.

In light of the recent PSN sales, I'm kind of happy I wait out. $20 is fantastic for the value Atlus offers in most of their games, but PS+ just beats it out in quantity with what I can buy with that $20 as well.

Hmmm, Rage of the Gladiator looks like a possibility, it certainly looks interesting enough. Has anyone here played it?

 
Haven't played an SMT game before, looked up a review on Soul Hacker and saw this from IGN:

On a fundamental level, this is still a decidedly 32-bit-vintage creation, which feels disappointing after Atlus' own Etrian Odyssey IV (which plays much like Soul Hackers but looks and sounds much better).

EO IV or EO MG. Anybody get a chance to play both of these? Given their lengths I'm probably only gonna have time for one.

I feel like they're entirely different, myself. Etrian Odyssey is darn awesome, though, and I'd recommend anyone check it out. Soul Hackers might not be the best first SMT experience. It, too, is pretty great. I am biased, but I'd say Soul Hackers is great and excellent, and Etrian Odyssey IV is sort of beyond great and excellent.

Soul Hackers is a 32-bit vintage creation, though. I don't know why IGN would have expected anything else. It's almost a straight port.

Millennium Girl is a great first game in the series to play. IV is awesome, though. Hopefully you'll play both eventually, but I'd suggest starting with MG.

There are demo's in the eshop for both. I'd recommend trying them. You can port over the save data from the demo to the full game, so no reason not to try them.

The main difference is EOIV has overworld exploration where you fly a balloon across the overworld, while EO MG has a story mode in addition to the classic EO adventure. MG is a remake of the first game in the series, so I'd recommend that.
 
So I just beat Witch and Hero. I hope others of you picked up the game during the Christmas sale. It took me about 6 hours overall to beat. The final boss is VERY hard, but I really enjoyed the rest of the game. Took about 8 tries to beat the boss, but it was so satisfying. Loved the bump mechanic. Maybe I should play Ys. :joystick:

The three difficulty levels don't just make the ten enemies more powerful — they actually give them so many different moves and strategies that they feel like entirely new foes. Using the tactics you honed on the "Novice" rank when fighting on "Warrior" difficulty will usually see you face down in the dirt pretty quickly.

so only 10 fighters seems like its really short

 
I got my days confused for Etrian Odyssey Millennium Girl. I might get it Monday or wait until the physical copy is on sale so I can get the LE.

Yeah. Better to wait for a deal on eShop cards than actual sales on first-party titles. I doubt we'll see much of it except around holidays/Black Friday, but it's better than nothing.

 
I'm actually about to use some Best Buy certificates to get Luigi's Mansion on the eShop for about $15 since they sell eShop codes on the website, so there are ways to get those games directly for a bit cheaper.

 
Is the EO:MG deal confirmed or still speculation?  I passed last time because for $30 you could buy the physical copy still, but for $20 I'd def buy it.

I wish they'd discount them on the retailer sites like BB! Maybe if I keep holding out on Luigi's Mansion... :)

I had a BB certificate, but I didn't realize they sold eShop games.

I don't see it on the list, but Scribblenauts: Unmasked and Scribblenauts: Unlimited are both on sale for $19.99 each on the eShop. Not a great deal on Unlimited, I picked it up for $10 on Amazon a few weeks back, but it's one of the better prices I've seen for Unmasked.

 
I know I'm not treading new ground here but man do I wish digital games were less than retail. There are about three retail games I would love to buy, but a game like Mario 3D Land has been out too long to drop $40 on a digital copy. Ditto Msrio Kart 7

Nintendo noob here. Sorry if its a stupid question. How do I find out what a game on 3ds eshop costs without opening the eshop on 3ds? My problem is that I don't have a 3ds yet (getting it in two weeks once my fiends reaches back home). Is there a way to find the prices online somewhere else?

If not, can someone please check and tell me what's the cost of "Nintendogs + Cats Golden Retriever" on eshop? I can get a used cart for the game shipped from amazon to my friend for about ~$20. I know my son will really like this game enough to keep it installed on the system instead of physical disc. But If the eshop version costs more than $30, I'd much rather get the used cart from amazon. But I need to know now or else I will end up paying intl shipping and customs making it $40-50 for a used game :(
 
they don't list price and your choice is made for you, nintendog is not available from the eshop. (you can apparently download the demo tho...)

edit: also, rereading, not sure of your region but sounds like US 3ds/amazon while you are located elsewhere,  US don't have nintendog in the eshop, it just tell you "available at your local retailer" where the usual purchase button is.  remmeber 3ds is region locked.

Thanks. I intend to get games for the 3ds from US only as 3ds games aren't really available here in India and the few I can find would be way overpriced. Was hoping I'd be able to get some games from eshop as well. Region locking for eshop shouldn't be too difficult to bypass (since it's a US bought handheld and I can always use proxy/DNS servers + eShop GC to hide my location, if required).

Too bad they don't have the game on eshop. Their loss.
