Rabbits Travel in Time 3D - $14.99 - 50% off - Ends 3/31

Rayman 3D - $14.99 - 50% Off - Ends 3/31

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell 3D - $14.99 - 50% Off - Ends 3/31
Thanks Frisky. Never would have thought to check. Odd timing, starting and ending on a Monday.

I would highly recommend Shadow Wars.. just not at that price. $30 MSRP for that still is a joke. I also enjoyed Rayman 3D, but that's similarly overpriced (3D and Origins should not be the same price at all).

Random question, but does Cave Story ever go on sale? I'm sure its worth the $10, but I can hold out if there is a one
Yes. It was recently on sale (along with other Nicalis titles) for $7 over the holidays last year when they had a bunch of massive sales side-by-side. Definitely reasonable to wait. Just remember that Cave Story 3D and Cave Story+ (the one on the eShop) are completely different versions.

Pushmo was on sale last year. First eshop title I bought. And, yeah, some of these Ubisoft games can be had for cheaper physically. Though I suppose the convenience of digital is something to factor in.

So what's the consensus on Pokemon Trozei now that everyone's had some time to play it?
You pretty much get rewarded for speed and speed only. I always enjoy puzzle games where you can kind of take a moment to set up some crazy combo and have that make up for the moment you spent, but... this is not one of those games.

Looked a little blah to me, I am saving for Yumi's Odd Odyssey myself, and will likely pick it up next month. Looks fun but short (review said around 8-10 hours).....wish it was 20 bucks!

I think my last post came across more negatively than I intended for it to. Probably because I was tired and grumpy at the time.

It's a fun game. When I was talking about the focus on speed, I simply meant it's what's most important. You can set up combos and make your way through a level, but you won't get a high grade unless you're able to do everything quickly enough to launch powerful attacks and clear the screen a few times. That's one thing I realize after playing more, is that you really gotta go for the screen clears (when you match/clear every pokemon on the grid). And pay attention to the type match-ups. Super effectives help your score.

Also, not sure if it's because I was improving by that point, or if the levels give you a bit more to work with as you go on, but I didn't get my first A until Zone 3.

I replayed the first stages in Zone 1 over and over, trying to figure out how to get a higher rank. Finally have gotten a couple S ranks. The score has to be really high for that. Can't remember right now. Over 2000?

Someone is gonna make a Dragon Ball Z joke now.  ...  ...  ...

Off-topic just because I'm worried about whomever said they were going to buy it: Just read a really negative review of Witch and Hundred Knight on RPGamer.com.  So no one can say "OH IGN JUST HATEZ RPGS".  It might be a love it or hate it game, but I am kind of wondering if maybe it's not just plain crappy.

I wish Nippon Ichi would do games for 3DS.  I don't get why they're so stuck on PS3.  Nothing against PS3, but their style of game is one that I'd typically prefer on a portable system.  Many get Vita ports, but with the Vita's lack of popularity, I kind of wish they'd just make their games for 3DS instead.  (Uh, but better games than Witch and Hundred Knight.)

While this is true, Vita is becoming a niche machine...glad to see that maybe mainstream success is not the way to go for the developers heh. But really indie + niche games will keep the vita alive, though we do have Freedom Wars coming....maybe someday here, and it looks ok.

I hope so. It is difficult, being a multi-portable gamer, but even back in the early '90s, I had both a Game Boy and a Sega Game Gear. :) My Vita doesn't get much attention thanks to my 3DS, but I'm still really glad I have a Vita and that it exists, and the more niche stuff that comes out for it, the happier I become.

Not holding my breath on Freedom Wars, but we'll see! :)

Their audience is on PS3/Vita. They made some DS stuff and it sold like shit, so they're done with them.

Mostly just Disgaea, though, right, which everyone would have already owned on PS2 or PSP? Can't remember if they were the ones who did Rhapsody on DS or not. Could have been a lot of factors. I don't blame them, though, and as long as I can get their stuff on Vita, I'll be happy (and PS3 I guess if I have to!).

yeap one of the biggest waste of 8 bucks i blew on the 3shop

I discount review scores because they are a poor way to judge a game. It doesn't tell me if I'd actually like it. Personally I rather have the positives and negatives listed out in a review, and I'll judge from that.
I really like watching CGRUndertow reviews on Youtube. They review a ton of 3DS games, and always stick to the "this is why it's good, this is why it's bad" method and don't even bother with an actual score of any sort. It's funny reading the comments and without fail seeing a few people say "so what did you rate it? what score is it??? I don't know if it's a good game or not!!!".

To be fair, afaik, the only non-ports (Disagea, which was just a PSP port) they published for the DS were A Witch's Tale (which was garbage and not developed by NIS), and NISA published Puchi Puchi Virus.

It was hardly an effort, and not indicative of the audience, they just couldn't be bothered to make an original game for the platform. The only titles they've published on 3DS are Atlus titles for the EU.

Just saw on Atlus USA's Twitter that the Conception II demo is up on the eShop.
Dont waste your time downloading it. I thought it was going to be a real DEMO. it was a very very short thing what allowed you to do almost nothing. It only last like 10 to 15 mins tops very lame.

one thing it did do was save me cash. was thinking about buying it but after the demo i wont, Map is so freaking small you cant see shit and the graphics are crap

You do know that the review scores have lots of text that goes along with them to read, right? :)

It's a shame how reliant upon scores we've become. In video game journalism, which stretches back perhaps 40 years (and at least 30), scores came relatively recently. The first scores were usually just out of 5 (with halves included). Maybe our detailed scores with pros/cons are an attempt to sort of make amends for having scores in the first place. But people have been complaining for at least the last 20 years that no one reads reviews anymore and just looks at the scores. We really would be better off if we could do away with them entirely.

Yeah, it's a shame. I wish they'd be more careful what they port (see, again, Witch and Hundred Knight, or perhaps worse, Time and Eternity). There's a similar situation with Namco Bandai (I think they're the publisher); we beg and beg for a One Piece game, and they give us a bad one. Now when it doesn't sell, they'll say, "Guess Americans don't want One Piece after all." (Shame, too, because it's a nifty turn-based RPG, but it's just... not good... (Romance Dawn))

Well that's sad to hear. Maybe the Vita version is superior. I expect lengthy demos from Atlus, but I guess that depends upon the developer. The Etrian Odyssey demos were great. But those were also great games. I hope this one doesn't suck, but we'll see. GOT TO SEE THE REVIEW SCORES. Just kidding. :)

yea i used all of my 30 times in the EO demo. Dont see why anyone needs more then 1 time to play this demo. I was really hoping it would been like 2 to 5 hours into the game but the Demo starts right in the middle of the game (your like level 10) it looks like PROJECT X ZONE to me (game wise) never got into it... will just rent it off gamefly

Sure, but their experience was what is was. They decided to stick with the audience that knew was there instead of investing more to see if there was an audience on the DS.

This is strange I got the Vita demo and it seemed like a real good amount of gameplay for a demo, I got all the basics down and went to the 1st dungeon. After some things I'm trying to finish said dungeon which is probably where the demo ends, but so far I've put in about 3 hours and just a bit into the dungeon. How far does the 3DS demo go?

I played both demos some and they weren't even comparable. The vita version has lots of cutscenes and conversations, the 3ds version is just like here's a map, go to dungeon. Took a long time to go to dungeon in vita version.

I wonder if the real games will be this different?

As far as I know, the games are identical except for hardware differences (minimap on bottom screen on 3DS, everything higher resolution on Vita, etc).  Maybe there was some weird reason the demos had to be different.  Strange.  I guess it's good to own both systems if they do end up being totally different, though.

Maybe it is a size limitation of some sort. Then again, EO: Millennium Girl's demo was just a level-limited first part of the game, so who knows.

New Disappointment Price Drops Incoming:

That's it. Seriously.

Edit: Also the eShop is villain-themed because Nintendo feels wacky this week.

Code of Princess is $20 again? Hmm.. is it worth it?
It was to me (and I think I paid more). It's not as good as Guardian Heroes, but it's good in its own way. I think everyone wanted it to be better, but it's still a lot of fun if you like repetitive side-scrolling beat'em ups with the addition of some RPG elements and more story.

No. It's still a little too broken to be worth $20 (which is why most people haven't bit the million times it's been on sale). $10 would be my buy-in point. $15 if I was drunk and feeling generous.

Thank you! I'll try and wait for it to fall under $20. Maybe $15 will be the sweet spot for me.

Does anyone know if the DSi ware title "Number Battle" is worth my time? I have enough coins to get it on Club Nintendo.

It would be.. if the servers for it weren't being shut down in a month and a half (where arguably you get your money's worth). If you end up getting it, make sure you start playing it now to enjoy it while you can.

I prefer playing it alone, myself. It's a great game and was released as a full retail title in Japan. If it sounds like it's up your alley, yeah, grab it. It's my vote for best DSiWare game. Can't really think of anything else that comes close for me.

Actually the way it works is there are 6 story/haggle discount games and 4 games you use coupons to get for a discount. The 6 story ones go from 2.00 to 1.90, 1.80, 1.70, 1.60 and finally the last game is 1.00. The 4 you use coupons for go down to 1.50 for a total of 16 bucks in total.
