I've never played an Etrian Odyssey game, however I've played the demos. I am still undecided on which one to get so I'll ask: Which one of the two games should I buy and play first?

I'm playing through both of them right now and I prefer Untold. Story mode, easier navigation (only one dungeon and you can jump to any floor you wish once you've cleared it) so I'm spending less time backtracking, and I prefer the skill tree for Untold. I also feel like I'm grinding more in 4. That could just be me not finding an optimal team setup and having to make up for that with raw stats.

That being said, I'm sure others might disagree about the appeal of having only one dungeon or Untold's seemingly more streamlined skill tree. Biggest consideration might be if the story mode is that important to you. As someone unfamiliar with the series and the genre the story mode helps keep me motivated to play more and simplifies the team building process.

So series veterans would probably pick 4. Newbies like me would pick Untold.

I haven't played EOIV, but I've enjoyed my time with Untold. Untold offers two different ways to play it with a classic mode where you choose the characters/classes for your party and the other does that stuff for you as it sets up a story.

Moon works great with the circle pad pro. Took a few minutes to get used to the sensitivity but its awesome.

Anyone played code of princess? Does it harken back to the beat em ups of 16-bit days?

Kinda. The stages are pretty much nothing but killing the same guys over and over again like back in the old days, but you get 8 characters to play as and all of them play drastically differently. It's fun and relatively short, but can get repetitive.

I love both these games. EOIV was actually my first EO, and I played the crap out of it, obsessively and feverishly. It took me a while to figure it out, though. I think Untold is friendlier for new players. They are both A+ games in my opinion, though. I bought them both at release for full price.

I really enjoyed it. I don't think it's a "good" game in the sense of the Etrian Odyssey games (which are both excellent), but if you like beat'em ups, it's a lot of fun. It's goofy, lots of characters... It's not as good as Guardian Heroes, but it's kind of like it. It's better than Senran Kagura but has less boobies.

While SK has CoP beaten in volume, I think we can't count CoP out of the boobie contest just yet. Of the four main characters three are female. Of those three women, we have, in ascending order of boobliness:

Ali, who's admittedly DFC, but only wears a belt over her bust.

Solange, the eponymous princess, whose bust is massive for her frame, and who has forgone the traditional chainmail bikini in favor of newfangled platemail pasties.

And finally there are Zozo's zombie boobs, which are entirely uncovered, with only the top of her cape and the part of her scarf that reads "MILK" providing any kind of decency. (And in case that wasn't enough, keep in mind that the Japanese word for "milk" is homophonic with the word for "boobs.")

Personally, I think CoP has SK beat in flagrancy.

Yeah, I guess they're both pretty flagrant. CoP doesn't have a mode where you can change characters' clothing and make their boobs bounce and look up their skirts, nor do you ever really get to zoom in at all on the boobs (I TRY SO HARD). You're right, though; CoP is definitely out there.

IV is very approachable but Millennium Girl is really designed to attract people that never played an EO game before and adds a lot more normal RPG presentation stuff to it. It's also a remake of the first game and can still be played in "normal" EO fashion if you don't need the extra stuff.

Haven't seen it mentioned in the OP or since someone mentioned it last week, so I just figured I confirmed I saw that

Code of Princess

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked

Shin Megami Tensei:  Devil Summoner:  Soul Hackers

are both currently $15, usually $30.  Don't know how long it lasts, though a post from the last page suggests through June 2nd.  Tempted to get one of them, just not sure which.

You can add SMT Devil Summoner Soul Hackers to that as well. Saw it on Atlus's Facebook.

I'm really tempted on Code of Princess for $15 but I rather have a physical copy.
That's how I usually feel about most of my games, but I've been doing a bit more digital lately, and with the 3DS the memory is relatively cheap, and with the discounted Nintendo money I got a few months back, it makes it even cheaper for the game. Definitely leaning towards that one out of the three.

Code of Princess is one of the games I have been eyeing since I got my 3ds but It never drops below $20 but now that it did I'm kinda on the fence about it. Ill probably think about it tommorow.

Well according to the news you have until June 2nd so you should have plenty of time to think about it :) Same deal for me, Code was definitely a game I had on my list and you're right, I've never seen it under $20 so it's tempting. The other two I've only heard about, but it's SMT, which is why I'm considering them too even though I've never played one - too big of a backlog lol

I bought SMT Soul Hackers back in Black Friday for $10 but I just could not get into that game so I gave it to a friend of mine. Which he loved but no matter what I did the game just never clicked with me.

hated soul hackers cause even at HIGH LEVELS demons could ONE hit kill you even if you had like 900 hp

I'm really torn here. I want to get Code of Princess, but like someone else said I much prefer physical over digital.

If I find a physical copy I'd likely be paying a little more, but it has the extra stuff that comes with copies of the game.

If I get digital it would be overall cheaper & permanently on my system, but no goodies. BUT I already have the eshop funds from Best Buy's sale so I could get it with no money out of pocket.

Code of Princess is a good game.  I enjoyed it.

SMT Soul Hackers is better than good, but you have to be the kind of person it's made for (however, I think if you're getting one-hit killed, you've done something wrong! I can't remember, but isn't there an easy mode? there are at least lots of ways to pump up your demons).

And SMT Devil Survivor is one of my favorite games of all time.  The DS version was really hard, but the 3DS version had an easy mode.  Yes, I am advocated easy modes in this post.  :)  I generally choose normal, but I don't like to be frustrated.

Anyway, I love Devil Survivor and play it almost every summer.  Can't say that about too many other games, that I replay them so frequently.

With all three, I would advise reading lots of reviews before making a decision and not just taking our words for it.  They are all three an absolute steal for $15.

I vote Devil Survivor. I played the regularly-clocked version on DS and I really enjoyed it.

I've never played an SMT game before and only kind of like Jrpgs.

Are either if these 3DS SMT games worth a go at $14.99 ?

Also, MM V $3.99 instead of $2.99, prices be creepin !

It'd help if we knew what you didn't like about JRPGs, but here's a basic description.

Do you like SRPGs? Because Devil Survivor is an SRPG. It's quite good, fairly plot-heavy, but it can be grindy and difficult.

Soul Hackers is a remake of a Sega Saturn game. It's been updated a bit, but it's still fairly dated, so if old JRPGs aren't your schtick, that might not be the best place to start.

Yeah sorry it was a badly phrased question, thanks for responding.

Grindy and difficult worries me a bit but it sounds like Devil Survivor might be the one to go for over Soul Hackers.

EDIT - Having read some reviews they both sound pretty decent.

some demons have the spell DEATH or something like that and even on easy mode if it hits no matter your HP your dead

Glad to see some great deals.  I've been watching the two Shin Megami games for a while, but I still can't pull the trigger...I have a 20 something 3DS backlog that includes Fire Emblem and Shin Megami Tensei IV.  Maybe I'll play those this Memorial Day weekend.

If I wasn't so against digital games via eShop/Nintendo then I would easily be in for Code of Princess and maybe even DSO (even though I played the crap outta it on DS). I just hate that my purchases are not tied to my nintendo info, but the system itself, so archaic. But this has been discussed all over the internet ad nauseam.

If you have a Nintendo ID your purchases are pretty much tied to your account...

It's already been covered various times by others who've had to retrieve their digital libraries with Nintendo.  Although it is a pain in the ass compared to other types of accounts, you can get your stuff retrieved by contacting Nintendo directly with your info.

Nintendo will probably clean this up further next generation but you are covered (club nintendo also keeps a log of your purchases) if something were to happen to your system.

I know they can be seen that you purchased it before via Club Nintendo, but I thought the only way to get past purchases on a new 3DS was via System Transfer. Is this not accurate?

I know the Wii U now allows you to move accounts to a new Wii U like you would on Xbox 360 and PS3, though it may take a few days to free up that spot. I don't know if the 3DS is the same or not.

Twitter from Nintendo says this deal ends 6/11.
That's not what the eShop says:
