3DS Street pass where did you get your first hit?

I've gotten nothing so far. Even took a stroll down Michigan Ave in Chicago on a Saturday, hit up the Apple store and a few other places...Nothing.

If I make it out to PAX Prime this year, I would hope that I will finally get some Street Pass action there.

Going to pick up :ds: Golden Sun: Dark Dawn at GS later tonight so I'll bring my 3DS to see if it gets StreetPassed or not.

Yay! I got my first StreetPass tag!! :D And it's a gal by name of Taquanda. Probably the GS cashier. She's playing Nintendogs + Cats. Pretty neat to see how we get introduced in the Plaza.

Now I have someone to use for the Find Mii game!:whee:

I got my first one while visiting my parents. I went to the theater with some friends from my hometown, and when I left, I had a Streetpass notification. It turned out being another friend of mine from high school who I had not seen in the theater. So far, the only 3DS owner I've passed is a fellow twenty-something. I thought the marketing looked aimed at a younger crowd, but so far, it looks to me like a toy for the child-at-heart.

Have you guys/gals tried your local Gamestops? I seem to get hits every time I walk into one, sometimes the same people too. I guess a lot of the empolyees bring their systems into work and leave them in sleep mode.

Finally got my first real SP hit today doing some prelim summer clothes shopping at the MoA. Only 1 though (2 others from demo kiosks in the gamestops in the mall) :(

Got my first StreetPass today at Chick-fil-a. There was a hailstorm outside, and a girl whipped out her 3DS to take a picture of the hail outside the window. I sort of kind of squealed when I saw it and asked her to put her 3DS in Sleep Mode so I could get my first StreetPass.

It was really cute, the introduction thing. I'm looking forward to finding more people.

Seems like a lot of us got hits today. :D

My first - and so far only - streetpass was quite funny.
Part of the introduction goes...
Nice to meet you!
>insert personal message<

The guy I met said...
Nice to meet you!
I hate you...

I lol'd.

Love it!!! LOL

...I got three more hits at work tonight! Two of them were from a couple entering the theater that both owned one....I happened to be right there and they saw me, "OMG! are you Dawn?!" lol it was awesome!

It doesn't even have to be in sleep mode.

Got 8 hits today and only one is from a GS kiosk. I also got 4 street pass battles for SSF and won 3 out of 4.

This street pass thing is pretty addictive!

Really? Does the 3DS exchange info with other 3DS's as long as the wi-fi is on? Even if you're playing DS original games?

Yes, as long as you aren't playing online, or downloading something. If you have a DS game in though, it apparently doesn't work.

Got my first hit at PPL Park for the Union / Red Bulls match. Also took some 3d pictures before it started. Most of them look picture-boxy due to nothing in the foreground, but I got a good one of the Bimbo Bear. I'll have to zip them up and post.

Carried the 3ds around with me to the flea market, target, toys r us, and barnes and noble today. nothing. Did earn 10 coins, but that's it.

Sound about right. Thanks for the info!

Still waiting for my first, but I dont typically take it out of the house. I do work in an Arena though, so i could maybe try to have it on an event day and see what outcome i get. Might get something from 19000 spectators.

I got 10 yesterday =D, I almost completed the New Super Mario Bros puzzle need one more piece, started a new one and started to fill in one of the metroid ones.

Given how much time I spend out and about on the weekends, I'm really surprised I don't get more hits. My first one was a girl at John's Incredible Pizza (she's been playing a Japanese game; can't remember the name). My next hit was at Target, which is when I discovered that you can't view your new encounters and then play the games at a later time. My last two hits were GameStop employees. So far, everybody seems to only be playing old DS games, so I don't have any hits for Samurai Warriors. Boo.

I really wish we could exchange 3DS friend codes through StreetPass so we could have some way of actually talking to the people we meet. It would be a great way to make some new friends.

can you get different puzzles from the kiosk demo units? i finished my zelda puzzle and will likely never encounter an actual person with a 3ds, so it might be my only chance at getting any other puzzles.

EDIT: today i went into town and went to walmart, best buy, fye, gamestop, and 2 grocery stores. absolutely nothing...not even the best buy demo unit.

Had my first streetpass! I went into GameStop today to preorder DOA, and I asked one of the people working if they had one, and both said no (but they want one), and I noticed some guy talking to an employee about a 3DS game. I walked over there and the employee I just talked too asked the customer if he had one and if it was with him. He said yes and pulled it out.

OMG! I whipped mine out and looked at it. No Mii yet. We talked and had them near each-other (practically laying on top of each-other), and for a few minutes, nothing happened. About 4 minutes later from meeting him, he left.. I didn't get a notification or anything on my 3DS about the StreetPass. I end up leaving and 10 minutes later I check it and it showed the notification! I checked the plaza and see his Mii sitting there.

I'm a bit disappointed about the huge delay in how SP works.. The two employees at GameStop were huddled around us practically giddy watching us stand there completely WTF faced that nothing was happening.. but at least it works and I got my first StreetPass! Next: SSF4 SP!

My first StreetPass occurred while I was working. I work at Target, so I had it in my back pocket while I was at work and some random girl happened to popped up on my system. This was the Monday after launch. I was pretty excited.

Now I have a total of 11 people. Sometimes I catch people at work, sometimes at the mall, and sometimes just in strange random places.

Got my 3rd hit today at Best Buy when I picked up my DQIX order. This one came w/ cat ears and last played, to my surprise, a DS game (Jewel Master Egypt). Thought 3DS game icons only show up on the 3DS. I recall someone griping about DS game icons not appearing in the Friend List...he/she might be wrong?

Does anyone here also get DS game icons on occasion? If so, where (Friend List, StreetPass, etc)?

My last streetpass hit I was surprised to see it show a DS game as well! Some girl I picked up while working at my movie theater...said she last played "Kingdom Hearts Re: coded"

I kept mine in my pocket while at work (messenger for armored truck company), and got my first (and only) street pass in a stop. I THINK it was in a Wal Mart.

Edit: Oh yeah, his 'most played' thing was the settings menu.

I had 3 hits and each one game during trips to Ikea. Most times when I go out to town I forget to bring it with me.

I got two hits last night at Friday Night Magic (weekly Magic: The Gathering tournament). While I was checking her Mii out and then went to play Find Mii, it said that there was someone at the entrance to my plaza! Lo and behold, someone else at FNM also had their 3DS. So if you're messing around with the program, it will alert you if you happen to catch another Streetpass. Thought that was pretty cool.

All 3 of the Streetpasses I've grabbed were playing either Pokemon Black or White. Seriously, other games exist, people. ;)

When you set up your Mii for sharing with people you've exchanged friend codes with, you can select a favorite game. Unfortunately, it only allows you to select a favorite 3DS game at this point. So no matter that you put 800 hours into Pokemon Black, you still can't select it as your favorite game.

This is different from when your Mii is shared via Streetpass. Your Streetpass Mii will share whatever game you've been playing most recently, which includes DS games.

I would hope a system update will address this issue, because it seems silly to only allow your friend code Mii to say 3DS games are their favorite.

I very rarely get hits any more. I did finally get one today while at work, but I've already come across that guy one before so I didn't get anybody new in my plaza.

Just discovered something that really sucks about streetpass.

I was out yesterday and mid-afternoon I looked and got 10 SP hits. I greeted them all but I was too busy to do find mii or puzzle swap. When I got home later that day, I looked and at my gate there were 10 additional hits.

After I greeted the last 10, I immediately went to play find mii thinking I would have an army of 20 storming into the tower. I was so pissed when I saw that only the last 10 miis I greeted were going into action! :headache:

Even worse, after I finished find mii, I was only allowed to do puzzle swap with those same last 10 miis! :bomb:

So I essentially wasted 10 heroes and 10 puzzle pieces because I did not "use" the first 10 SP hits I got by immediately going to puzzle swap and find mii after I greeted them.

Words to the wise: GOT TEN? USE THEM!

I made that same mistake. It was only with one person, but that one person represents 33% of everyone I've ever met via StreetPass.

Where the hell in the world do you get 20 StreetPass hits in 1 day?
Words to the wise: GOT TEN? USE THEM!
Maybe I'm misreading what you said but I don't believe there's a limit on how many Miis you can use/meet in those two games. It just has to be done right after you greet them and before you exit the plaza. Not limited to 10...it can be 25 or 47 as long as you do them all before you leave.

Not a good move on Nintendo's part.

Oh, nice catch; I didn't realize that was what he meant. Yeah, I don't know of a limit, you just have to use them once you view them or they'll go away.

What do you think about the changes to streetpass in the firmware update?

Iwata also detailed the update for StreetPass Mii Plaza. There will be more puzzles to finish and new quest to complete! Additionally there will be some sort of Map that will allow players to see where the people they have StreetPassed with are from.

SO how does it work, it needs to be closed and slept, with wifi on? That really drains the battery, doesn't it? I'm paranoid to take it out in public for fear of losing it or games...

http://articles.businessinsider.com/2011-03-28/tech/29956174_1_nintendo-s-3ds-role-playing-dog-owner

When you put the Nintendo 3DS into sleep mode (simply close the system without shutting off the power), the handheld continuously searches for online signals from other 3DS systems. This allows an exchange of information as players pass each other.

For example, the Nintendo 3DS includes an app called StreetPass Mii Plaza that has two mini-games. One of them is a jigsaw puzzle where you must collect pieces from other players, or purchase them using Play Coins (learn more). The other is a clever role-playing game that tasks you with assembling a party of Miis obtained through StreetPass.

A few of the launch titles also take advantage of StreetPass, and you don't need to have these games in the system's cartridge slot. Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition lets you battle other players without opening the device. Meanwhile, Nintendogs + Cats sends pictures and notes from one dog owner to next, and Ridge Racer 3D exchanges ghost information.

As with all things Nintendo and online, privacy is of the utmost importance, so you must enable/cancel StreetPass for every game that uses it. That said, we strongly suggest taking full advantage of what this revolutionary feature has to offer.
