$49 XBox June 17th @ CompUSA/Goodguys Megastore

While I'm not even going to get in on this deal (I got enough to play already without the aid of an Xbox), couldn't you buy a couple games with the Xbox, and then later take them back? Because paying full price for games at a CompUSA affiliated store really kills the deal.
 
Alright, I thought about this a little more. I think I know what to do for tomorrow. Since it is storming overnight, I doubt many people will actually be there that early (standing in 50 degree storming weather with 40 mph wind?). I'll just be there at around 6-7. If the line is short, great. That means I get an Xbox. If the line is long, o well, I can still pick up San Andreas for Xbox cheap since this is a new Compusa (and it's very likely that they have it in stock). If they don't have SA, then I'll take this week's ad, and go to BB to pricematch. So I'm bound to get something out tomorrow.
 
for some reason, i cant get on Compusa website, so could someone please post all of the deals
 
Anyone going to try and price match this at CC or BB? I have work until 4, so if anyone has success, I'll do it tonight. But if not, I'd rather not waste my time.
 
Wow! Ad doesn't even say the games have to be $50 ones. If you could get two PH titles with the Xbox for $90 that would be an amazing deal.

I'd advise any CAGer that is looking to get on this to be at the store when they open today.
 
Just got back from CompUsa and picked up a X-Box for 50!

I got there around 7ish and about 40 people were waiting..
i was lucky to get the last voucher.

Anyways the game selection was pretty $hitty..
Had only one copies of each game and most of them were overpriced..
(guess thats how they planned not to lose money)

I was lucky to pick up Fable for $30 and Silent Hill for $20.
Im just going to stop by GR later and pick used halos and others..

p.s. Does anyone know how to get 2-month Free Trial Code?
i am a xbox newbie and heard people getting them for free at 1st time.

I also just got back from Compusa. I waited there since 6:40ish and was about the 60th person there. I was able to grab the voucher (not sure is it the last one, maybe a couple more left).

They have a pretty good selection of games. Unforunately, they didn't have San Andreas in stock (I'm suspecting that all those copies went to the downtown Compusa earlier the week). I was going to grab SC:pT CE and LotR:TA until some guy told me that Burnout 3 was $20 (it said $40 on the tag). So ovearll, I picked up a brand new Xbox with Third Age and Burnout 3 for $90.

I'm going go again later today to another Compusa to what I can do about San Andreas (probably going to pricematch at BB or CC).

Looks like a great start for summer for me!
 
Wow, what a crazy morning!

First of all, thanks to the thread starter for the heads-up.

I'm in Northern Cali, and last nite I figured I could head out to milpitas at around 530am...BIG MISTAKE! There were already about 100 people there.

So, next stop hayward. They had about 30 people at 6am. Not too bad, but I was gunning for either the plasma or the xbox, so I was too late here.

I decided to try one more location...hillsdale. Got there about 630am, and was the 20-25 person in line.

They had a system where they passed out vouchers starting with the first person in line. You could only choose one voucher, so once they ran out of an item, that was it.

They only had 10 vouchers for the plasma, and wouldn't you know...I got the last one!

So now I'm debating on if I should keep it or not. There's already ads on craigslist from people this morning trying to sell this for $1700-1800.

Anyways, I'm very happy with how things turned out!

if the TV was HDTV, id say keep it. it is a great deal on the TV. this is the best thing you could do IMO.

sell the TV if you can get $1700-$1800, then wait for a plasma, or any TV that is normally around $2000 and buy one when it is on sale. you could buy a name brand company's HDTV 42inch plasma for like $2000-$2200, so wait until it is on sale, and buy that if you want a new tv. since you made $700-$800 buying and selling the TV, it would cost you around $1200 bucks which is an amazing price.
 
I am prepared to get flamed for this and I am not going to argue the ethics of it either, but in this case I don't care. I just pricematched this at CC.......in ILLINOIS!!

I finally got my new Xbox for $100 or less! I am a happy camper! :D

Doh! I just came back from Best Buy and they wouldn't pm it. I knew I should have went to CC, oh well. I'll just keep playing my PS2 and GC.

No hassle watsoever! The guy looked at the printout for about 5 minutes, read all the fine print, didn't ask any questions, and manually took $100 off my Xbox. :D The way they price match too I think I could just return the 2 games, but I won't do that. I'll stick to the deal.

Why would you get flamed? Did you in any way lie or misrepresent the deal when you went in for the PM? If not, and the store price matched it, that is their decision. I don't see any ethical issue.

Yeah, I thought CC was the better bet so I went there first. I figured the worst that could happen is they say no. I wasn't planning on causing a stink about if they did. I would have just said ok and left and tried Best Buy.

I don't see an ethical issue either, but I figured some people might think it's unethical to try and price match something in a state where I know they don't even have the store.
 
I just got back from CompUSA returning the 2 games that i bought with the Xbox.

2 games i had to buy, i didn't like them. The guy just looked at it and credited back to my account.

Ended up just getting the xbox for 50.

Starting to like CompUsa.. Only if they had better game selections..

Anyway, thanks TechVW a BUNCH. I was line since 5 am, and I was able to get the last voucher for the Xbox. I was the 30th something, and I got a bunch of vouchers.

It sucked that you had to buy 2 games to get the Xbox for 50 bones. Anyway, I figured out a solution: Go to another CompUsa store and return those 2 games to some poor and clueless sales clerk. And I made it. Dont know if it's morally right, but... anyway.

Some lucky bastard right before me got any 2 Xbox games for FREE because of a sales clerk's mistake. By the time I was there, they found out about it, and there went my free Chaos Theory CE and Halo 2 CE.
 
wow, congratulations on the ones who scored. I thought it was starting on today, 18th to midnight, but heh. I wouldn't miss out badly, though I wanted another Xbox pretty bad.

I was too lazy to try to pricematch this at CC Friday. Didn't feel like putting on my shoes and all that.

Congrats to those who got in on the deal.
 
Do you think you could still price match that over at CC despite the deal being over at Compusa? I would really like to get this, i just forgot about it.

It was only a 1-day deal, and it was 5 days ago. A pricematch was unlikely while the deal was actually going on (unlikely, but clearly not impossible), but now that it is over, it really isn't even worth trying.
