Hey all.
Just purchased a new Home Theater System, very satisfied with it at the moment. Games and moves sound incredible thus far.
My television, though, I do not have an HD cable box, I get the network channels in HD through the QAM tuner on my television, though.
I have my TV connected to the receiver with an optical cable, and I'm scrolling through what HD channels I have, and they are all in 2.1, although my reciever indicates that it is in Dolby mode, and not just Stereo, as it is with non-HD channels.
So, can you not receive 5.1 audio unless you have an HD cable box, or is there something I am missing?
Any help is appreciated. I would like to be able to watch LOST and a few other network shows in 5.1, if at all possible. If not, though.. that is fine. The 2.1 I am receiving now is a massive step up from the TV audio that I was used to.
