Sweet, I was able to get a PS3 with some free movies. Not too bad since I planned on purchasing it at full price within a week or so. The three movies I got were: 300, The Departed, and Kung Fu Hustle.
 
I'm really tempted to jump in at this deal. The pros are that I would get an EE equip PS3 guaranteeing that it will be compatible with my entire USA PS library. On the downside, an emulated system might open up the possibility of playing import PS2 games. This and the sony card deal are best I've seen so far (though, I don't want another credit card). I'll try to decide by today.

Ditto, exactly. There are really no PS3-exclusive games out that I want now, but that deal was just too good to pass up. Besides mom gave me a nice present that was burning a hole in my pocket. Happy Birthday to Me! :D
 
My buddy gave me Brandnew PS3 with gift receipt but i lost it. Darn it... It's possible i still get 5 Free BLUE RAY movies w/o Gift receipt or original receipt.

PS. my buddy live far far far away from me & i don't think he still kept the original receipt while i had gift receipt.
 
I have a quick question: Where on the 60GB PS3 box is the UPC code needed in order to get the extra five free Blu-ray movies? I'm pretty sure I know where it is, but I want to be as carefull as possible. Help would be appreciated. Thanks.
 
Hey, I don't know if this is covered elsewhere in this thread, but in case it's not:

I'm finding that this deal has enabled another older deal that I missed out on. It seems since buying the PS3, I'm getting 10% off every BR and HD-DVD disc I buy (even on the freebies). I was supposed to get that deal when I bought 3 HD-DVDs right after the New Year, but they told me I had missed out. Glad I'm able to get it now. That should save me a bunch. :)

It's on the top of the box, below and to the right of the handle.
 
One more question. Sorry, I'm an idiot:

On the form it says to mail "The original UPC code located on the outside of the player package." with the order form. Does that mean I need to actually cut the UPC code off the box and mail it in? Or can I just write the code down on a piece of paper?

Make a photocopy of it for your records with copies of the rebate form and receipt.
 
The deal is not really dead just the amount that you can get off. The B2G1 free blue ray deal is dead thus negating the additional 20 dollars off that people were reporting.

I was/am getting one as well. I didn't have the money until today and now that part of the deal is gone. Kinda of dissappointing, but it will not stop me for getting my PS3.

Just have to wait for a big check to clear, and I'll take advantage of this next week. Unless I find a PS3 for 50 bucks cheaper than retail(and new).

You have to use the link from the orignal post and add to your cart from there. I think the deal is dead but Amazon didn't take down the page from their system so you can loophole yourself in before they fix it. I thought it was dead too but just put in an oder using this method.

The subtotal was $499.99 (I used the free shipping method and no tax was charged). My real total came out to around $76 because I received an Amazon GC for doing a survey, from my cc company and from friends. :)
 
Just wanted to let you guys know that if your Blu Rays ship separate from the PS3 you'll end up getting charged for them. I understood why it happened so I wrote them a polite email telling them about it. So they were nice enough to not only fix the problem, but instead of removing the cost of the cheapest Blu Ray movie they went ahead and removed all three. I didn't just get them for free, they basically paid me to take them. My final total was 438.71!

really now? mine got separated into two different shipments too. i had the PS3 for $499 and the three movies for $69.85. I wrote them an email stating that i did the deal from the site and got charged for the movies. they refunded my $69.85. maybe i'm looking at it completely differently than you, but i got my PS3 and three movies for $499.
 
I went a head and put my money on my PS3. It happened at the right time becuase my 360 just got send to the repair center this week. Timing is everything I guess...
 
my order got separated as well, but my total was still only $480. guess i'll have to wait till the credit card statement comes to see what i was really charged.
 
I deleted the email but I think the agent was doing it as a good will gesture sort of thing. Because if it was just another mistake I would've let them know about it. I would have that on my conscious because that's just the way I am. The email was very vague and didn't outright claim that's what he did, but it also didn't say anything about what I'd asked (which was just the original order for 478.04). All he said was something along the lines of "I hope what I've done to your order is enough to satisfy your needs, and continuing shopping with Amazon.". At first I thought "Oh no, he didn't do what I asked at all." Then I saw the total was 438.71, and of course I was more than pleased with that outcome. That was the total for the PS3, and my Blu Rays shipped at 0.00.
 
Waiting on my PS3 to arrive from Amazon. I'm killing time by playing Odin Sphere. I really wished that I could have got in on the B2G1 Blu Ray deal, but oh well, its only 20-30 dollars. I just payed 500 for a PS3 I have no right to complain about 20-30 dollars right. Happy gaming to you all. I'll post my username when I get mine and maybe we can join each other in some warhawk.

Oh yeah I picked up a 2nd controller at Kmart for 35. I'll say it again, timing is everything.
 
I went ahead and ordered one. Might've been a really bad idea, but I've been wrestling with the temptation for some time, and I want the backwards compat. Got: Hellboy, Superman Returns, and Kingdom of Heaven for my Blu-Rays. $500 check - free shipping. Gonna fill out the form for the other 5.
Wow: I hope Sony can deliver some titles worth playing now, otherwise I just paid 500 bucks in stupid tax.

i ordered two weeks ago. got 60gb ps3 + casino royal + 300 + beerfest for $480 shipped.... + the five free crappy ones. i was very happy i spotted this deal on ps3fanboy.
 
Just added ps3, ghost rider, reign of fire and a scanner darkly to my cart, and on the last page of the order confirmation where it's supposed to show the final total, I'm not getting the discount for the movies. Is the deal dead?
 
Its dead. The initial link doesn't link to the right page anymore and when it still did earlier today the discount wasn't being applied to the Blu-rays at checkout anymore(I know cause I tried).

I was trying to hold off on this deal, but was finally gonna pull the trigger on it and get 300, The Departed, and Casino Royale with my PS3, then they cancel it on me :bomb: Eh, its my own damn fault for waiting too long, but it still sucks

This deal has been dead for at least a week, probably two or three. For those of you who were hesitating to purchase this, you should always keep in mind that deals which are mistakes or glitches don't usually last long. I bought mine the day this deal was posted on Slickdeals... the early bird gets the worm. :drool:

It hasn't been dead that long. This deal wasn't a mistake or glitch(at least the way I was going to use it). Maybe the way the deal was originally posted was a glitch/mistake, but now the non-mistake part is also dead. The only part that was was the part where you could get the free blu-rays with the PS3 and also take advantage of a b2g1 blu-ray deal to get a PS3 with blu-rays for less than $499. It was still a good deal paying full price for the PS3 and getting 3 free Blu-rays in addition to the 5 from the mail in form.
 
Well, something's definitely going down. I ordered mine on Monday - the link was still working, but either their website's not updating - or they're taking their sweet time about shipping it. Heh. Maybe I broke it!

They take their time shipping it. I ordered mine on the 7th and it didn't ship till the 12th good thing the location that they shipped it from is only like 45 mins from me so I will be getting it today.
 
I ordered mine (with Pirates 1-2 and Fifth Element) on Monday morning with two-day shipping; it was supposed to go out that day, but they didn't send it out until Tuesday evening. They upgraded the shipping so it still arrived on time yesterday.

Not sure what's going on - I ordered mine Monday AM - but it still hasn't shipped. Maybe it was our choice of which free blu-rays, or the fact that I stuck with the free shipping. (Keeping a really close eye on that 500$ bottom line though. I'm really beginning to suspect that my order went in during the final twilight hours of this thing. It's interesting that I ordered Monday 9/10, and they're only now billing me/taking the money 9/13. Maybe that means it's getting ready to ship.)

On the upside, this gives me some time to look for deals on Heavenly Sword.
 
I ordered mine on the 6th and the ps3 finally shipped today. The blu-rays and extra controller I ordered all shipped a few days ago. UPS says Wednesday for the PS3.
 
To anyone who got this for less than $499 (+ 3 then +5 Blu-Rays), how deep can the discount go on Amazon.com for HD movies? I have purchased some HD DVDs and I get an extra 10% off, but does it get any better with more purchases. Thanks.
 
Ordered day the deal went up got my system and 3 Bds shipped within a few days which arrived on the 5th of SEPT sent our for my 5 free Bds anyone know how long they take to ship?
PS3 is an interesting system great for DVDs and Blu rays now I just need a dang game, probably will wait for FOLKLORE in OCT.
