60% of Gamestop/EB customers don't get 360 by XMAS

One of my best friends is the manager at the local EBgames and called me the other day cursing me out. He said that there was 50 names on the preorder list for the 360 before they were told to stop taking them. He said I was number 8 and he was number 27..and they are only getting in 16 systems. For some reason Im STILL wondering if Ill get mine.

I reserved my 360 sometime in late May at Gamestop and still only made the second shipment. I missed the 40 unit cutoff by a few days. I didn’t even worry about it at the time since I figured the 1st shipment guarantee would be very conservative and that MS wouldn’t have any problems supplying just about all of the reserves.

My local Gamestop hasn’t or won’t tell me how many units they expect but I’m not optimistic. I guess I’ll try Walmart or BB if they have a midnight opening.

I'm confused........where did these percentages come from.....and about these supposedly shitty launch games? :p

oh well, i'll be in line, bright and early

I got done talking to a District Manager for EB/Gamestop about getting a refund.
If your deposit was using a credit card we will refund the amount back to the card.
If your deposit was cash(and under $150), we will give you cash if we have extra in our register at the time.
If your deposit was cash(and over $150), we will have you fill out a piece of paper and offices will mail you a check in 7 to 10 business days.
If your deposit was trade-in, you get trade-in credit only.
If your deposit was a combination, you get it back according to the ways I said.

I guess I will be selling an EB edge on Ebay a week before the launch so that I can wait in line with everyone else at Walmart or Target!!

Maybe next time Microsoft wont have simultaneous worldwide launches of their videogame hardware.
How stupid are they? Why have the Xbox 360 come out within a two week timeframe in North America, Europe, and Japan when you don't have nearly enough product?

Not only that, but why even care about Japan right now anyways?

If anything, launch it over there after the US / Europe markets are done. Dosen't Japan hate the Xbox anyways? They might as well send those units that will just rot on their shelves over to the US, where they will actually sell.

well, they're selling it all either way, and trying to please as many regions as possible. makes sense to me.

solution: fill all 6 pre-orders in japan, send the rest to US. done.

Glad Im not getting one of these on Launch day. As much as I love my Xbox, there is not enough decent titles to warrant a pruchase from me.

Ah crap, I preordered at EB. Though on three different occasions, they told me I'm guarenteed one at launch each time. Though a few times they seemed a bit unsure. The last confirmation was about three weeks ago though. I preordered in the beginning of September when they still had core spots left. So if this is true, I'll definitely be screwed until 2006.

I have my XBox paid in full except for tax. The EB I go to only did 24 preorders for the first shipment. I actually wouldn't have been able to get one, but by the time I decided to go ahead and get it I went in there (while picking up DOR2) and asked if they were still taking preorders and was told that someone had just cancelled theirs like an hour prior to me coming in so I would be able to get in on it if I wanted.

I talked to a guy who works at EB today. He told me this was true, but not as extreme as the OP is making it out to be. It's more like 50% will get theirs on launch instead of 20, and the other 50% will get theirs 1-7 days after. If you weren't already told that you wouldn't get one till after xmas, then you'll get one before. Not sure if this applies to every EB though.
That is right!
I was told that yesterday.
20% of 360s pre-orders will get their system on LAUNCH WEEK(not 11/22)
20% more will get them by X-mas!!
I reserved mine on August 12th, and don't get mine on LAUNCH WEEK.
Now I am out my XBOX system and games that I traded in towards my promised 360 on LAUNCH DAY!!
Customer Service employees blame everything on MICROSOFT.
They also refuse to give me my games, or CASH back so that I can wait in line a Walmart, TRU, Meijer, Best Buy, etc...
I highly doubt they won't give you your money back, because that would be considered fraud. Promising a product, failing to deliver and failing to refund your money is defiantely not legal.

And if you whine and bitch to the managers they might bump you up the preorder list over someone who doesn't say a word. It's worked a few times for me before.

WOnder what all this means for those of us who pre-ordered from Wal-mart.com pretty early. I got in on the 619.00 bundle. Think it will ship??

a few times...... right...

Our store went from 26 to 13, our whole staff is fighting who gets to work launch because NONE of us want to be there. Our most faithful customers are some of the 13 through 26 guys who will be waiting. I wish I could scream at Microsoft for the crap we're going to go through.

Wow, this is really beginning to suck for even those people who preordered months ago. Im just lucky because I went to my ebgames the first day they started taking preorders. I talked to the guy yesterday and he said they too will not be getting many systems in but not for me to worry because he showed me the list and I was first.

I think my eb is just calling a few select people to the midnite sale because at first they announced to everyone that they wouldnt open at midnite and then just the other day the manager told me to drink a bunch of coffee and be there at midnite

My ebgames is staying open the whole day (10am-1am) Usually they close at 9pm but for 3 hours they are taking peoples trade ins/cash for the preorders and also setting up the 360 outside of the store for people to play

This is why I prefer waiting to get a system instead of dealing with pre-order clusterfucks. I never pre-ordered a system before and I never will. I hope everything works out for everyone else though. I won't be going to EB/Gamestop on launch day to pick up Dragon Quest VII. I have feeling there will be many pissed people.

I think a lot of this "shortage" stuff is just rumors spread to drum up pre-orders and business at EBs and Gamestops. No stores know how many they're gettng yet. It's just employees pulling numbers outta their asses.

I'd be inclined to agree, but didn't a number of stores stop taking pre-orders?

I wonder how long it will be before someone steals it?

I know in my city, I'd give it an hour tops.

I never trust GS or EB for launches anymore.

Mine was ordered June 2nd from Media Play. They called Friday and confirmed I wanted the 360 and not the core package, told me to come in and pre-order any games, $5 holds them, I wanted (I'm getting 8.) over the weekend which I did.

I am now guaranteed the 360 bundle, PDO, Kameo, COD 2, PGR 3, Oblivion, King Kong, Quake IV, Condemned, second wireless controller, 2 P&C's and a $20 store gift card for $984.35 including tax. All paid for in store credit.

No problems with my order. YAY ME!

True, but it's not like they'll stop selling the system. Demand is demand, wether it gets fulfilled or not. I think a lot of GS/EB employees just like to act like they know everything and everyone else is wrong. You'll never hear a gamestop employee say "I don't know, microsoft hasn't given us shipment numbers yet" or any statement that makes it seem like they don't know everything.

actually, that's exactly what we were saying... until they gave us numbers. and the numbers come through home office, not directly from microsoft.

I preordered mine 5/22(Sun) , which I believe was the 2nd/3rd day of Po's. I should be fine but knowing my luck I'll get shafted

Nice. Just a shame that PGR3 and Oblivion don't come out until December and Condemned, the one I was looking forward to the most, is now apparently 2006. I can get 5, possibly 6 games.. I have 7 prebooks at Rhino, but I was going to use two of 'em for Path of Neo and Star Wars: Battlefront.. I just wish we knew what was confirmed for launch day besides COD2, Kameo and King Kong.. people are saying that PD:Z is also pushed back until the first week of December.. no one knows what the hell's going on

Oblivion, I know, is scheduled for 12/5.

The rest by the best of my knowledge are launch day titles. Kameo and King Kong have already gone gold. I have to assume Quake IV has as well. Condemned is definitely 11/22.

PGR3 is 12/5.. Kameo, King Kong and COD2 are locked in, I don't see why Quake wouldn't be.. regarding Condemned.. I thought it was launch day, then some people said December, now magazines are saying 2006.. I'm really, really, really hoping it's a launch title. I wish Saint's Row was also a launch title, but that's now 2006.. so.. here's to hoping I'll have Condemned to hold me over!

EB, Gamestop and Amazon all have Condemned for 11/15 or 11/22.

EB and Gamestop have PGR 3 listed as 11/22, Amazon has it listed as 12/15.

Conflicting info = lack of pre-orders.

Congrats, but I have to ask what you did to amass so much in MP credit?

Our store is only getting 16, and we have 80 preorders...our mall stores are only getting 20 and they have over 150 preorders...thats just insane. And only ONE core system per store...thats BS! Good thing im waiting to get mine...

I had a similar experience at EB. Past couple of weeks when I would go in and ask about my pre-order, I would get a response like "well my manager is not here right now and Im not sure how to check it, but when did you pre-order?" June. "Oh your on the first shipment Im sure." So of course I stopped paying it off immediately. Went in yesterday and demanded to know if I was on first shipment and if I would get one on launch and the manager said I would because they recieved a extra 8 preorder shipments and I was in. sounds fishy. Glad I only put down 150 so far, so if things dont work out Ill get another DS. Althought thats total B.S. if they wont give me a total cash refund if I wanted one.

If you paid with cash, you can get a full refund, if you paid with trade ins you can only get store credit...hope that helps...
And only ONE core system per store...thats BS! Good thing im waiting to get mine...
Good, the core system is a piece of shit, MS is doing all these people a favor.

If you put down $150 in cash, they will ONLY issue a corporate check. This take normally 7 to 10 business days. I would suggest cashing in if you hope to receive the check by launch day, so that you can try to get it somewhere else.

I preordered back in May, and I got the dreaded "2nd shipment" call today. They told me it would only be 5-7 days... but I'm a bit leery of that. Is anybody else hearing the 2nd shipment will be that soon? I only put $50 down on the system, but paid off the two games I ordered. I have a friend who preordered from EB two months ago but paid it all off. It'll be interesting to see if he gets his.

Scorch, where did you see Condemed in 2006.
Ive been searching online for awhile now and cant find any news/evidence..

edit - EB still has it listed to ship on 11/15/05

Microsoft told buyers for EB/GS that they would be sending additional units every week to the distribution headquarters. The number of actual units could be 1,000 to 10,000. No one has any firm numbers as to the production rate of XBOX 360 systems.

If you really wanted it that bad then you should have preordered sooner. You have a legitimate gripe about not getting your cash back but complaining that you might not get the system right away is simply "newbish." I ordered mine in July and even I might not get one. Oh well, that's the way it goes. (PS2, DS launch anyone?)

Besides, what's the big deal? It's not like there are an abundance of outstanding launch titles anyway...
