60GB PS3 (refurb) $500 Shipped!

Just Released system Refurb??? no thanks, i know the headaches with the first released PS2s back in the day, DRE FTL!

There basically bad products that got fixed. And have a higher rate of going bad again. Ive been stupid before and bought refurbed stuff to save a fgew dollars, but they tend to break faster then they should.

They usually have the same warranty though. If the manufacturers has a good reputation of customer service, I'll still go for it occasionally. But I had a refurbished MD player break on me right outside the warranty before and have been hesitant about refurbished goods since. If it's an Ipod I bought direct from Apple or something, fine, but in the case of a PS3. Dunno.

The warranty may be the same, but refurbished products are always fixed with refurbished parts. In fact, when your brand new system dies, the replacement parts are refurbished. Read that warranty. ;)

That goes for pretty much any electronics manufacturer, anywhere.

I have one friend that buys everything refurb because "what ever problems the unit had are fixed", but I'm with most of you. You wind up buying headaches when you buy refurb.

and the 360 had absolutely no hardware problems in the first 6 months of its release...

I'd really hope people can stop bitching and turning this into a 360 vs. PS3 flamefest. I will be unamused if that happens.

Keep it OT, please.

Dang, I am seriously considering this. Been wanting to pick up a PS3 as my PS2 is going out, and wanted to mess with Yellow Dog..

And I haven't heard much bad about the PS3 as far as quality goes, only some very scattered reports of bad things happening, so I'm thinking this might be a good deal.. Are they refurbed by Sony themselves and shipped out with another 1 yr warranty? That may conveince me to pick this one up.

Keep it Off-Topic???? Why?
it says stock is now 30% and the new price is $484
Damn that's tempting . . .

I need a new PS2 and I've been holding out waiting for the holiday sales and clearences (for either a PS2 or PS3), but that's probably as low as a 60 GB would get . . .

DAMN! I really have to stop coming here. Too many tempting deals on stuff I only have a passing interest in :(

Gone.

That's ok. $500 was my personal price ceiling for a NEW one. Well, at least until MGS4 comes out and I can no longer contain myself. Though I'm going to try really, really hard to hold off even at that price point until it appears at something like Overstock, where, instead of paying tax, you can use an 8-12% coupon. At the end of the day that's damn near a hundred dollar difference for my sales tax rate.

Don't hear a lot of complaints with these machines though. Figures. The one gen Sony has an early batch that may actually be functional years later and they're struggling for market share.
