75% off N64 and PS1 Games @ EB/GS

bsschorr

CAGiversary!
The old B1G1 sale appears to be over and is being replaced with a 75% off sale; plus the 10% off for your Game Informer card comes off the original (and the the dicounted price), makes the deal closer to 85% off. It also appears that the old N64 and PS1 games are being consolidated in select stores, so many stores will not have any games and some will have a ridiculous amount. YMMV and good luck.
for a total of $8.3x. How did I do? Is PE & Bushido Blade 2 rare?
thats great for all those games. as for PE and BB2 specially if its disc only they probably will sell less than $10 each. good for trading though :)
I second that emotion!

I told the clerk that if he wanted to make a kid cry in store, he should give the brat a free copy of Madden '97 disc-only.
 LOL:lol:

I've seen people report that accessories are also clearanced, but are systems as well? I ask because a store near me has about 5 "new" ps1/lcd combos. They say $199.99 on them but according to the website they're 49.99. Still too much, but minus another 75% and it would be worth it.
You can actually still check N64 games, it takes some time though. I found that the records are still on their site, but you can only get to some of them. I brought up archive.org and loaded the site when n64 games were available and did a store locator on the page. Surprisingly it showed they had 1-3 Pokemon Puzzle Leagues. I checked my store and they had 3.

It only works on some of the games though. It seems really finicky, I think it is because most of the N64 pages have been removed, but some are still there.
I really can't get this to work, and I've tried about fifteen different dates from archive.org and got 404's, blank pages, or archive.org errors when I tried to go into the 64 section from the main page. The one time I managed to get to a 64 game's page (Tony Hawk 2), using the store locator just forwarded me to the current gamestop homepage.

Any recommendations for specific dates to go to from archive.org and specific games to look up that have working locator functions? Also, are you checking gamestop.com or ebgames.com?
Yes systems are clearanced also. So they should be 75% off also.
YMMV, unless this took effect last night.

My GS scans systems at $14.99 still. Same with accessories. AFAIK, they haven't been clearanced since I paid $2 for a memory card recently.

I was happy when I got my PSone w/Psone controller and all hookups for $10 though, overall great condition, at the start of this sale. Since then all that's left are cake-encrusted PSX systems.

Come on the cake-encrusted ones are custom..

I saw PSX controllers at Gamestop but they were marked as PS2 controllers so they were like $19.99. Wow Gamestop is really stupid, marking old dirty grey controllers for twenty bucks.
How did I do? Is PE & Bushido Blade 2 rare?
I found Bushido Blade 2 in Mint condition complete and got about $25 on Amazon for it. So definately you got a good find.
Yes systems are clearanced also. So they should be 75% off also.
I just stopped into my EB and they had 2 combos that they didnt have before. I asked if they were on clearance too and he looked in the computer and said they were still $199.99. So, could the computer be wrong and if he scanned the SKU it would be the clearance price?

Anyone have any luck?

Found a few decent PS1 games at the only GS in the area that still has N64 & PS1 games:

Gex: Enter the Gecko- $.75
Bogey Dead Six- $.75
Covert Ops: Nuclear Dawn- $.90

Other than that, it was all old basketball & football games. GS will probably either have to give them away or destroy them since no one will buy them.

Yes, it will. Sticker price means nothing. Just subtract 75% from that and you've got yourself the actual price. Also, be sure to chip in with the edge card. You get 85% off in total.

Found some good games again during my weekly visit to the GS that has PS1 games. Ended up costing $9.64 for all.

Complete:
Gran Turismo
Spec Ops: Ranger Elite

Disc & Manual:
Driver

Disc Only:
Gran Turismo
Gran Turismo 2
NFL Blitz
Tomb Raider II
Tomb Raider: Last Revelation
Rainbow Six
Civilization II
Syphon Filter
Spec Ops: Stealth Patrol
Spec Ops: Airborne Commando
Tekken 3
Chrono Cross (Original Black Discs)

It's really not 85%. You're getting 75% off and then 10% off of that. If something was $25, for example, before tax it would be $6.25 after the 75% and then $5.63 after edge, whereas 85% off would make it $3.75.
there's a harvest moon game for N64 at my gamestop that has a sticker that says 26.99 on it...will it still be 75% off?
yup
I've tried to buy a PS1 and it rang up 19.99. YMMV perhaps?
No, this is nationwide on all used games... but I have heard about some games not ringing up with the discount.
I've tried to buy a PS1 and it rang up 19.99. YMMV perhaps?
Pricing is YMMV ($14.99 in my area) but unless you live in an unusual area with an awesome DM, systems and accessories are not 75% off. Just games.

I thought the same thing but for whatever reason Gamestop actually rings stuff up that way. You don't get 10% and then another 10%, they just combine it and make it 20. Works out better anyway so I can't complain.

yeah its definately YMMV. i found 2 ps1 systems before and had it checked it was $19.99. also YMMV for ps1 accessories, including controllers.

Is this true cause there are two GS i go to and only one of them has a sign that clearly says used N64 and DC games are 75%. Nothing says anything about PS1 being part of the sale.

I did pick up N64 Gauntlet Legends, Perfect Dark SW Shadow of the Empire, DC NFL, NBA, NHL and World Series 2k all for about 4 dollars.

You're right. You're getting 75% off of the full price, and then 10% off of the remaining 25% (or more clearly, an additional 2.5% off the original price.) The total comes out to getting 77.5% off the original price, not 85%.

The 10% is off the original price, not the remaining 25%.... I think we all know how to do our math.

Actually, no, you're getting 10% off of the full price when uisng the Edge card...which is why its such an obscenely sweet deal. $0.15 on the dollar is nearly half the already-ludicrous clearance price of $0.25 on the dollar.

I can't even count how many times people said 'you're not getting a full 85% off the games that way' on here. Excuse me, but I have something to ask you.

Did you fail basic math in school?

Seriously, if the Edge didn't stack with this clearance and didn't give me the full additional 10% off, I would've never bought any of the games I have from it.

Does anyone know how much a game boy color is??? A GS about 30 miles from me has 2, I was thinking about getting one if they are dirt cheap.

Opps confused my stores. The gameboy color is 9.99 at gamecrazy if I recall. I never see them for sale at my eb store but would be curious to know the price

How does the inner workings of the GameStop POS have anything to do with a mathematical background? Both are valid depending on how they calculate their discount.

Usually that's because they keep them in one of those closets behind the counter. They leave those glass racks for one side to have GB/GBC games, and the other for GBA games. They tend to put GBA/SP/micros there, as well as unboxed PSP games or UMDs along with PSPs. In some stores, they'll have all of those in a glass shelving that's accessed behind the counters. Even then, they keep the GBCs out of site.

The site shows that they were $29.99. However, I would say that it's probably much lower as event some of the games shown on the site or even on the stickers attached to the games are actually lower in price by now. I very much doubt they'd sell a Game Boy Color higher than they sell regular Game Boy Advances.

i hit 2 stores today, 1 only had a few ps1/64 titles which were just sports crap. although they did have the ps1 systems for $14.99. i hit another GS and found a good amount of 64 games. of course i took whatever i got.

zelda majora's mark - 1.95 x2
zelda ocarina - 1.95 x2
castlevania 64 - 1.05
quest 64 - 1.95
pokemon stadium 2 - 1.95
dr. mario 64 - 3.75 ($24.99 b4)
yoshi's story - 1.85
excite bike 64 - 1.95
n64 rumble pak - .89
paper mario - 3.75 ($24.99 b4)

and 1 unexpected find was a snes mouse and pad for mario paint. i grabbed it of course for 1.84

I got F-Zero X for just under 1.50 a couple days ago. It was the last non-sports game or otherwise will never sell game like Sesame Street or something for the N64 in the store. It's cool, but it's a typical Nintendo racer where the computer cheats out the ass.

I'd check my EB again, but the regular clerks I got along with either quit or got fired. And, I was told by their temp replacements that they 'would be putting out the PS1 games after some sort of inventory', which is what I was being told by one of the old clerks.

How does a store go from having half of a display rack full of games to a half a shoe box in less than a month? Seriously, most of the games I searched when they had them out were crap sports titles and the only other 2 around with PS1/N64 games had more than their fill and no room for more.

I'd ask to get the contact info for their DM, but that's the same DM who doesn't like me for being a smartass to him about guides a while back. :whistle2:D

how the hell are people still finding amazing things?

I wonder the same thing as Scorch. I have one EB and one Gamestop in my area. They both used to have PSOne/N64/Dreamcast titles, and then they both got cleaned out at the same time long before any of these clearances started. Now they're just a couple of silicon wastelands. The only reason I have to go in either one of them is if I read about a deal on here (which I have never gotten in on @ either of my stores), or if I want to pick up an Atlus game on the day of release (the stores usually get 2 copies apiece of most Atlus titles, and I'm usually buying one of them). :p
how the hell are people still finding amazing things?
alot of the stores tend to keep things in forgotten boxes until the next manager desides to clean up the stockroom and finds that they have a buttload of old ps1/n64 games. theres a store in paramus, nj where i spoke to this guy said the same exact thing when i saw a bunch of dreamcast stuff last year. if i were you i would start asking. just ask if they have any older games, like ps1 and n64, then ask them which stores might still have them. they usually know because theres atleast 1 or 2 dump store for each district. just prepare to take a drive though.

I know the three(that I've found so far) dump stores for Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Dickson City(EB near Target)
Hazleton(Gamestop near WalMart)
Bloomsburg/Buckhorn(Gamestop near WalMart)

However, aside from the 1-2 games I found in Bloomsburg, the rest were crap games, including MANY complete older Madden titles. The Hazleton store had crap and the Dickson City store suddenly had 9/10's of their PS1 shelf go POOF, though the clerks who took over for the fired/quit employees told me the rest of them are in the back in a large box. I never did look at all of them, so there may be some GOLD in there. :whistle2:#

BUT, chances are it's just more Madden and other crap.

there is one dump store that I know of which is about 10 mins from me but they have never had any new stock brought in.. always the same crap.. and I mean its crap lol

The GS that has old games in my town only has gameboy and gameboy color stuff. However there is alot of it to be had. The way I found the GBC in was that it was thrown in the back of one of the glass display cases holding GBA games. There is 3 of them too. They literally are not visible unless you are almost on the ground looking around. The games on the other hand are plainly displayed and there is about 50 of them. Of the 5+ gamestops that I visit on an even semi-regular basis, this is the only one with anything to speak of.

i really think theres more stores out there that has these games.. its just a matter of time until someone finds it. when i was on vacation 2 yrs ago there were these stores in PA that has tons and tons of ps1 titles. im gonna try to hit a few of them before the end of the summer and try to remember which store they were. im sure alot of the good ones are gone but i'll take my chances. some of these stores might even have new ps1 titles still that they've forgotten.

LOL Phear, I saw a few new titles mixed in with the 10000 Maddens each of the dump stores had.

Sick part is, eventually all these games may reach 90% off(one can hope) before pennying out. But, once they penny out, I'd have better luck chasing the garbage truck to try and get whats left of the games than going in store for them due to the DM in this area.

I found maybe ONE Parasite Eve and a couple other halfway decent games in ALL the GS stores I've hit and OF COURSE none of them had Intelligent Qube left.

the places i went to was near hershey park. a few miles or maybe even 10 miles from it. i really dont remember the town but it was nice cause they had everything on that strip mall and across the street theres another strip mall with a gamestop. but i remember 1 eb games having like a few copies of resident evil games, and a few street fighter games. stupid to passed street fighter collection 2 though. i did manage to buy silent bomber and tales of destiny 1 disc only (i sold it on ebay though at the time) at the time. but maybe they're all gone now i guess.
I found maybe ONE Parasite Eve and a couple other halfway decent games in ALL the GS stores I've hit and OF COURSE none of them had Intelligent Qube left.
My big finds were Parasite Eve, Chrono Cross, Tales of Destiny, Armored Core/Project Phantasm/Master of Arena, Colony Wars/Vengence/Red Sun, Final Fantasy IX, Legend of Dragoon, Threads of Fate, Deception III, Dino Crisis 1 & 2, and Front Mission 3.

But to get all that, I trudged through hours of searching literally thousands of titles.

I never saw one Intelligent Qube, but I can get you any sports title released on the PSX, multiple copies even. ;)

Must not be much better around Wilkes-Barre then it is in Williamsport. The used section was weak at the Lycoming Mall even years ago for some of the systems. I remember when EBgames first started getting into used games. They barely had any NES games & the selection of SNES & Genesis games wasen't that great back in the mid 90s at the EBgames at the Lycoming Mall. I was actually taking to a guy afew weeks ago that said he would drive to another EBgames because the 16-bit selection was much better back when all of the mall stores still carried that stuff (mid 90s I'd think), Susquehanna Valley Mall IIRC was the one he'd go to. Also alot of the less popular systems had a less average used selection at the Lycoming mall especially at the end of the systems' life (Saturn, N64, Dreamcast I'm mostly thinking of) actually the Dreamcast selection wasen't too bad while the Dreamcast was still alive but dried up pretty quickly when the Dreamcast went under. I still remember going to State College with my one friend around '99 and seeing a much better selection of used Saturn games when they were $5-10 for alot of the used Saturn games.

Its easy I guy I know told me that alot of the employees wait for these offers and put them on the side for themselves. Then on the day they are off the come by the store and buy them so it looks like a regular customer bought them.

I'm pretty sure this is going to be my last good 75% find:

(all disc only)
Tomb Raider Chronicles
Tomb Raider 2
Grand Theft Auto 2
Syphon Filter 2
Celebrity Deathmatch
Tekken 2
Bushido Blade w/ manual

this was in Brooksville, FL by the way
