80% Off Comics, Graphic Novels, Toys, Statues, Collectibles and More

ANGURA

CAGiversary!
**Heya. As mentioned before I work for this store. But we just dropped everything to 80%, and added a bunch of new stuff. Given how many people here enjoyed their previous scores I thought I'd pass on the new developments. Bunch of new graphic novels and toys added. Enjoy**

Hi all,

Well we're at Week 5 of the Summer Steals Sale and things have gone critical. Not only is EVERYTHING now marked at 80% off of retail, but because we can't leave well enough alone, we've added hundreds of new items to the sale.

That's right - hundreds of previously discounted items, and they're all marked at 80% off. There's no guarantee as to how long this deal is going last, and given how many items we've completely sold out of, there's no guarantee how long an item will remain in stock.

When an item is gone, its gone for good. So get yours now, before someone else does!

Cheers,

Andrew@TFAW

Thanks I just ordered about $70 worth of stuff from there. I used this coupon for free shipping 'TRINITY' it's for orders over $30.

Question, when things say "nick & dent" are we talking major nicks and dents, minor nicks and dents or does it vary? Thanks.

Nick and Dent Items have been handled and have minor dings, scratches, etc. but are still perfectly good as reading copies. In regard to statues and whatnot it means that the packaging has been scratched up, so if you're an 'in the box' collector, you're probably going to want to look for other options. But if you (like myself) actually take your toys, statues, etc. out of the box and play with them, then these are a great way to stock up on cool stuff at a fraction of the price. Hope that clears up any confusion.

Cheers,

Andrew@TFAW

It does, thank you. I'm just interested in trades and I've got no problem if there's some wear or tear. I just didn't want to buy something that has the cover halfway off, etc.

Awesome, thanks for the heads up. Just got 10 graphic novels that I've been meaning to buy anyway, $40 after shipping (didn't see the free shipping code until it was too late )
anyone actually ordered from the site before?
TFAW.com should be a reputable website, as it's the online counterpart of West Coast chain Things From Another World. I've dealt with their B&M location at Universal CityWalk several times. I see no reason to distrust their business.
anyone actually ordered from the site before?
I've ordered from them a few times in the past. They ship in boxes, if you only order 1 trade it comes in a cardboard mailer. Everything comes in plastic bags, if not factory sealed. They put the same size items in a bag together.

I've ordered the nick & Dent stuff before also, there where a couple of scratches on the spine in the lower area and a hard back I got had the problems on the bottom of the spine so when sitting on a shelf you can't see it. I ordered some nick & dents this time also.

Hope this helps.

I just bought the 80 precent off Oct 07 issue of Hobby Japan and the half off of the Nick and Dime Bubblegum Crisis Grand Mal comic.

All in total is 12 bucks with shipping, which to me that isnt bad. I basicly payed 2 bucks for shipping per item, which isnt too bad. Of course, i did the cheap shipping, so i sent them to my parents house. Should arrive about mid/end of august...

I've bought from them before, and because of this thread, I've bought from them again.
They're a trustworthy company in my book.
It almost feels sinful buying Amano artbooks at such cheap prices.

Hardboiled TPB 3.39
Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot TPB 2.99

Both great if you don't have them

tempted by Give Me Liberty Ltd. Ed. HC for $23

I would highly recommend reviewing our rating on BizRate.com to address any questions you might have about our reliability as a retailer. Your concern is a completely reasonable one in this day and age, and as an online business, I totally endorse the idea of knowing who you're dealing with.

As a matter of fact I would strongly encourage everyone to check for information and ratings on ANY AND EVERY business you consider entrusting information with online.

The nice thing about BizRate is that they are an outside service, that allows past customers to post opinions, reviews, praise, criticism, suggestions - whatever. It's great in the same way forums like CAG are great, in that you get feedback from real people and real experiences.

I mean, I could certainly blather on to you all day about our customer service, but I know that when I'm shopping I really would rather here what actual customers have to say... and not just listen to the guy I'm shopping from toot his own horn. :D

I just received my package: the one nick and dent item in my order, Civil War: Iron Man, is pretty much pristine. There's a tiny bend at the bottom corner that goes through half the book but it barely even creases the pages and it's literally less than half a centimeter wide. I had to hold the book up close just to catch what was wrong with it. I've seen books at Borders and Barnes & Noble that look much, much worse!

Glad to hear you were pleased with the condition of your order. Like I mentioned, nick and dent items have very minor damage... but we wouldn't feel right about selling them at full boat. Thanks for checking us out!

I'm buying nick and dent books in confidence now! I just placed my third order for this Summer Steals sale. For $44.34, I picked up:

Captain America: War & Remembrance
Coffin: The Art of Vampire Hunter D
Dead Memory
Iron Man: Armor Wars
Silver Surfer: Rebirth of Thanos

It's been a while since I came across an online clearance with such great prices and items still in stock!

Is this dead, I don't see anything higher than 10% off...

EDIT: Oh, it's only off certain items, not the whole site, nevermind.
How long does it usually take for the order to ship? I'm still waiting on mine to go from last friday.
My previous two orders both took five calendar days to ship out. I assume they're dealing with a huge volume of orders during this sale.
How long does it usually take for the order to ship? I'm still waiting on mine to go from last friday.
It can take 2-5 business days to process a shipment. Obviously we always try to get your order out as quickly as we possibly can, but sometimes it will take the full five days. After that, it's up to whatever sort of shipping options you specified.

As Rapsodist pointed out we are SLAMMED with business right now. Not only the Summer Steals Sale, but also a little get together called SDCC has made us very busy for some reason.

Keep an eye on your shipment and feel free to drop me a note here on the boards or check in with our service department if you don't see your order listed as shipped in the above time frame. Thanks for checking us out!

Just checking. Thanks for replying. I had sent in a small question to customer service out of curiosity before I posted, but then I realized I should have just asked it in here.

Thanks again. :)
TFAW do me right every year at ECCC in Seattle. I love you guys! :D
Thanks Mike!

It really means a lot to me (and to everybody else here at the T to the FAW) to know we're doing right by you and everyone else who considers us worthy of their comic habit. I hope we can continue to be the people you go to when you want some comic nerdery. :)

And please folks, I've seen a lot of great stuff on this post about what we've done right. But I know as well as you do, that no one is perfect... so always feel free to chat me up here about the good and the bad.

I TRULY want to know how we can be of more use to you and serve you better. You can also find me on AIM as TFAWAndrew, or send me an e-mail at: [email protected].

Are we perfect? Noooooooo. :D

Who is? But we take our commitment to you as a trust that we are obligated, and grateful, to fulfill. I know it sounds cheesy... but for real, let me know what I can do to make your comic purchases better.

If you can resist the urge to swear at me... great! But even if you can't, let me know. Thanks again to everyone for the kind words, for checking in for the Summer Steals sale, and for the trust you've shown in us in placing your orders.

All of this is truly appreciated.

Much gratitude, and keep your eyes posted for some new deal craziness I've been concocting. Now I just have to coerce.... errrm, that is convince :) the execs to let me do it.

Peace.

Andrew@TFAW

OH!

And shameless plug (do forgive me).

I write a weekly (for the most part unless I'm sleepy) review called Cool Geeky Things, in which I talk about comics, toys, statues, and dorkdom as a whole. Check it out.

I will be the first to admit it's a little 'off the cuff'. I ain't that good at the spellin' and the grammaticals. :D

But if you like comics and stuff, hey hey, I tend to pick out some mainstream and underground gems. I'd love to know what you think.

You can find CGT here (in my blogs) on MySpace, Facebook, Xanga, Blogger... and probably about half a dozen other places I've forgotten.

(End Shameless Plug)

Thank you!!!
just ordered a shit ton of stuff from there, about 13 stuff for 32 bucks, really awesome, but alot of the really more popular stuff is gone
For reall Publiicprivates (is that some sort of innuendo? :))

We've had a REEDIKUULOUS (told y'all I'm not so great with spelling) response to this here sale. But there's still some great under the radar swag to be had.

Thanks for giving us a try.

Cheers,

Andrew, I really appreciate the care in customer service you're providing us. It's always great to see that someone actually pays attention, and actively. The sale prices are what drew me in, but it was also great to see that you didn't just post a topic and never come back again.

I don't buy comics very often, with the exceptions of Astro City, Fables, and 100 Bullets, but I'll be sure to check out TFAW.com regularly from now on. I feel more inclined to check out some series I've been neglecting thanks to the cheaper prices in the nick & dent section, which may become my new stomping grounds!

i really want to read the watchmen but have no idea what I want. My friend has the ultimate edition but thats not around anymore I guess. Any recomendations. I would like to read before the movie.

Hi Chris,

I would recommend picking up the TPB if this is your first time reading The Watchmen... with caveat. I would actually first and foremost encourage you to ask around amongst some of your friends and see if anyone has a copy of Absolute Watchmen you can borrow. Believe me, it is an AWESOME experience to read this story in the oversized print.

BUT, it is an EXPENSIVE experience as well. :) The TPB offers a much more affordable way to immerse yourself in the genius of Moore and Gibbons.

Regardless of the format you choose, it is the story that grips you (and haunts you) so believe me, you will not be let down by reading the TPB your first go round. Then if, like so many of us, you find yourself a total Watchmen addict you can always decide for yourself if it is worth it to you to pick up the hardcover, the Absolute, etc.

Oh and did I mention we just happen to sell the TPB version? :D

You can find it here.

I hope you enjoy it as much I have. I can honestly say that it is (in my mind) the benchmark for all feats of sequential storytelling that have followed. Let me know what you think!

Cheers,

Andrew@TFAW

Rapsodist,

Thank you. Truly.

It means a lot to me to know that people are happy with the way we treat them, and I'm grateful for your kind words. No matter what you do, you always hear a hundred more complaints (which is good, makes you work harder) than you do compliments. But it makes those compliments all the better when they come around.

I (and all of the other great people on our team that don't get to interact with you awesome folks) at TFAW honestly give a damn. I guess that's all I can really say. We've worked hard to get where we are, and we remind ourselves every day that none of that means a thing... if we aren't taking care of the people who trust us with their business. Namely, y'all.

So a big thanks right back at ya! Make you a deal... you all keep letting me know what we're doing right AND what we're doing wrong, and I'll keep making sure that we don't get lazy, and that we don't forget that we aren't entitled to your business. Matter of fact, we're lucky and privileged to have it. Thank you.

Cheers,

Andrew@TFAW

Ordered about a dozen graphic novels. Since they were so cheap, I decided to take risks and venture from super hero titles and ordered stuff like Bili 99 and Hard Boiled, hopefully they're good.

Thanks OP!!
Anyone know if The Last Temptation is a good book?
It's an interesting book and, if you're a fan of either Neil Gaiman or Michael Zulli, one worth picking up. Originally a part of the Marvel Music line it is, in essence, the visual companion piece to the Alice Cooper concept album of the same name. Take a look at the cover here, and you'll note the similarity between the Showman and Cooper - which is decidedly intentional.

Personally I enjoyed it quite a bit, and thought the Black and White artwork was well done and appropriate to the story. In fairness, I'm also a bit of a metalhead and a big fan of Gaiman - and I work at TFAW. So my recommendation should probably be taken with a grain of salt. :D

Cheers,

Andrew@TFAW
