Except that corporate does these ads weeks if not MONTHS in advance. Hence they had plenty of time to make sure inventory on said items would be at stores. Instead we got the case of stores not getting these advertised items in at all. For K-Mart they can't afford to screw things up with the few customers that even bothers with them.
It also has to do with marketing and sales; if the store in question does good on sales of blu rays, or if they feel the area and target market is sufficient enough. It's not just K-mart that does this type of thing, a lot of companies do if not all; not saying I agree with it all though
Believe it or not, K-Mart use to be the biggest big box store; even above Wal-Mart. However back in the 90's I believe it was, the CEO and board of K-Mart were older men who were set in their ways, and against newer technology, so they didn't want to update to a new inventory system. Which Wal-Mart did update their systems. Later, K-Mart saw the success Wal-Mart was having, and tried to upgrade there's, but had a system created that was way to small for what they needed, and wasted millions in the process. So that's why today, Wal-Mart had skyrocketed to what it is now, and when you walk into K-Mart, you see a lot of empty shelves
