Also just thought of a PS2 F1 game. I forgot what it was called, it was made by an Aussie company right after EA gave up or lost the license, and it was budget priced on release, but a solid game and a lot of fun

You might try Star Ocean: The Last Hope. Similar battle system if I remember. Voice acting is horrific, be prepared.
