Hello GGT. I am very entertained by the whole Kotaku kerfluffle

Haven't done much gaming today. After a productive afternoon, I started a new chapter in Fire Emblem, then after a few attempts with that chapter's map, realized I had to go make dinner, so so much for that. Will probably play some more over the weekend, though. Been a little sick lately, however, so that depends on how I feel.
if I focus I could most likely beat DMC4 too... we'll see if I wanna do that,,,
That reminds me: I still have to beat DMC3 >_>;
I'm currently doing a Street fighter piece but don't like how it's going... it was ryu and ken but I may just change it into a SFA Final Fight crew shot.
Hmmm... Mario & Sonic vs. Bowser and the Doc? Mega Man vs. Zone of the Enders? No More Heroes vs. Star Wars? Ninja Gaiden vs. Devil May Cry? SackBoy & all the other character Sony has tried to make their mascot?

Yes, more brilliant ideas are waiting within my brain.

Went to a drive-in for the first time ever today. That was fun. Cheap snacks. 1 medium pop, 1 large pop, and a medium popcorn = $5.50 total. Saw Step-Brothers, a decent unplug movie after a crazily busy week.

I *may* get to go to a gamestop tomorrow. If so I'll be picking up Yakuza and burnout with that coupon. Do I have to bring it with me or can I just ask them for it?

Hmmm... what system to get Mega Man 9 for, Wii or PS3? Wii seems more appropriate, but I've got the whole Mega Man collection on the PS2... And I don't have enough points on the Wii for it, so I'd have to buy some and have a remainder. Classic controller and DualShock are about equal for me I think.

anyone wanna play burnout?
also just got my replacement laptop 1680x1050 res FTW and i got an extra gig of ram for free since when the order was placed they were having a 3 gig ram upgrade free

Niiiiice.

So someone on CAG offered me a used 16 gig I touch with an Invisible shield and a case for 210. I plan on getting an IS anyways, but I think I'd rather get an immaculate refurb and pay a smidgen extra.

PS3, then if you ever play on an HDTV you have the option of having it display in the correct aspect ratio.

Well, I suppose if you'd like your display to be upscaled from 480p then that's fine rather than displayed at 720p or higher.

Also depends on your TV, at least the PS3 wouldn't give you any problems.

I really don't think Mega Man 9's visuals make a difference on the two systems. ;)

Most TVs should be able to force the Wii into 4:3. I do that when I play VC stuff.

yeah only problem i have with it atm is getting credit back since its not showing up on the HP site and i was supposed to be charged like $394 and get $294 back so i would end up payin a total of $100 for the upgrade

Does anyone know what Bioshock and Uncharted get at Gamestop?

The one I'd be going to has Yakuza, Kof 11, and Burnout all in stock. After coupon it would be roughly 55 bucks. If I could get half that I would be soo happy.

It's not about the visuals, it's simply for convenience. I know you can force the Wii into 4:3 but it seems rather pointless to have your TV do upscaling for the Wii when you can just get the PS3 version without any worries.

Essentially yes, it was simply my opinion, you can get it for whatever system I was just throwing my 2 cents in.

Cool, I'm getting Mass Effect from goozex.

I played it for like 5 minutes on a rental but got bored so I took it back. Bout time I finally spent some time with the game.

Speaking of 360 games, my xbox is finally at that third stage in the repair tracking site. I should get it back next week methinks.

No, I appreciate the insight! The choice is going to come down to minute choices like this since it really doesn't matter at all ;)

Sold a bunch of shit today. :) Feeling good. Still got a few PMs to respond to. Selling things is like a game in itself. I did play some 3rd Strike and Super Turbo though.

Yakuza 2 in a few. Time to bust some heads.

heading to my local Blockbuster to unload alot of stuff I don't need for good credit. I'll use the credit on a PSN card and maybe something else. I might eventually trade up for Rock Band PS3 there since it'll be alot cheaper of a bundle.
Playing through Quest for Booty.

The Ratchet and Clank series is so awesome. Best 3D platforming games to date IMO.
I'd give that to Sly Cooper.

whooo~!!! gaming update!!

I jus beat 2 stages in DMC4... currently on Stage 17.

my PS3 controller down to no bars again so I'm charging it,

gonna rock the Yggdra Union in the meantime for the rest of the evening!

Ratchet impresses me, but Mario Galaxy is far and away the better game. That's not taking away from R&C, Galaxy's just that good.
You know what's a great a song? "King" one of the bonus tracks on the deluxe version of Weezer's Red Album. Listening to that one on some nice speakers? Mmmm.
You see I own this town, you best not come around
You see I own this town, you best not come around
I was just coming to visit you. :( I even brought a bag of chips! :( :(

I finally gave up on the Marietta in Yakuza 2. I think there's something wrong with it. Anyway at the 20 hours mark, finally getting to chapter 10 :whee:
Ratchet impresses me, but Mario Galaxy is far and away the better game. That's not taking away from R&C, Galaxy's just that good.
I've never been a huge fan of the 3D Mario games. Sure, they're good, but I personally don't love them as much as other people do. Then again, I've only played about 3 hours of Galaxy so I can't really form a well informed opinion on that.

Thing I like about Ratchet more are well, the characters are more interesting, there's actually a story, and I personally just found them more fun to play.

Yeah, comparing Ratchet and Mario is a little weird too. They're not really doing the same sorts of things. Mario is almost pure platforming, while Ratchet really borrows alot from action games / shooters and mixes in some platforming along the way.

Do give Galaxy some more time one of these days. The level design in the later worlds is insanely good.

And, wow, other than No More Heroes and Mercury Meltdown I can't believe that all the Amazon Wii lightning deals sold out. I certainly hope they only had like 6 copies of each game available... and even then....

I'll definitely give it a shot when I get a Wii, I pretty much just played it for a few hours at a friends house and it is definitely good stuff.

You're right about comparing them though, Ratchet is definitely more action oriented than Mario. In any case, both great series!

While we're on the topic of Ratchet though, I've said it before and I'll say it again. Nintendo somehow needs to get Insomniac to make the next Starfox game. The ship levels in Tools of Destruction were very very well done.

Someone at Nintendo needs to just play Star Fox 64 so they remember what on earth those games are supposed to be... :(

With their Retro Renaissance happening both in BC:R style and MM9 style, I would love to see SEGA turn Sonic over to Capcom for a bit. Chances of Sonic Unleashed being good? Zero,

Yeah, if there was a good Starfox game to come out I'd probably go out and buy a Wii just for that.

It would be cool to see Capcom do that with Sonic and you know Sonic Unleashed may not be good (the non-werewolf parts look great IMO), but
I'll still get it and enjoy it anyways...also probably going to get a Wii when the new Sonic for it comes out. I'm just that cool :p

I actually liked Secret Rings. It was flawed in a lot of places, but putting Sonic on rails is where he needs to be. The vids of the 3D controlled Sonic stuff in Unleashed suffers from the same goofy control problems that Sonic has had since the first Adventure game. It's just darn near impossible to get free-roaming ability and Sonic's speed to go together in anything but, at best, a tenuous relationship.

The Knight Sonic game coming to the Wii, if they address this issues Secret Rings had and don't import new ones from the other Sonic games could be cool.

Hey, remember when Sonic was about freeing his buddies who had been trapped in robots by Dr. Robotnik on Mobius? Let's go back to that, where you could have suspended disbelief of a blazingly fast, 5' tall blue hedgehog. I've never, ever understood the jump they took to putting Sonic in the "real" world.

I miss Genesis Sonic. :(

Hmmm... you know, November and December seem like awfully light buying months, surprisingly enough. All I'm getting for sure is Chrono Trigger DS, Metal Slug 7, and Tomb Raider Underworld. I'm thinking about getting Prince of Persia if it turns out and maybe GOW 2, but yeah. That's not much, and I'll probably have that stuff before its time to be thinking about Christmas presents...

Well it's just Robotnik and Sonic this time (hopefully). I never had a real problem with the 3D stuff in the Adventure games, in fact I got all A's in SA2 so that I could get the Green Hill Zone remake :D

The werewolf parts don't look ok, but those parts still don't belong in a Sonic game. Hopefully they aren't a big part of the game.

I do remember those days in Sonic...back in the good days. Still, hopefully the new one remains just Sonic and Robotnik...Tails and Knuckles would be ok as long as you weren't forced to play as them, but that's all.

And yeah, good or bad I'll probably buy a Wii for that Sonic game...well, that and House of The Dead :D

I don't think liking the old Sonic games is based on nostalgia either... I never played Knuckles as a kid, nor did I play much of 3... but they're still damn fun games today. They nailed the combination of platforming and speed.

Yes they did. Speaking of Sonic & Knuckles I still need that. Sure I have it with Sonic Mega Collection, but I want the actual cartridge. One of the coolest things ever done in gaming.
I want Battle Fantasia. How is it so far, Azumangaman?.
I'm enjoying it. I played for about 45 minutes, watched MallRats (incredible movie) and then played for another hour or so.
I love the game, but I have one major problem: The HP system. Its completely unfair; one character has over 6000 HP and others have 2-3000. Its ridiculous.
Otherwise, I love love LOVE the Story mode (best Story mode in any fighting game I've played) and hopefully some of you guys will get it because there doesn't seem to be anybody online at this point.

I played like 3 hours of Yakuza 2. It's great.

By the way, I don't know how many of you here care about hygiene or not coming off like one of those dirty gamer/nerd types that people universally revile, but here's something:

I got this sample of Scope White, which is the new variety of mouthwash from those Scope dudez. Now, I use Scope every day, so I thought "hey, why not give it a try?" Big mistake. Scope White tastes like ass the second it enters your mouth. But the worst part?

The aftertaste is like having an unattractive person spit in your mouth.

That's exactly what it tastes like. It's insane. They must've planned it.

6.5/10.

Play magazine shat all over Metal Slug 7. Basically said it was a sad excuse for a Metal Slug game and it's only single player.

It's good that there aren't many games that I want to buy coming up. I need time to get games that I've missed as well as play other games. And save up for that SFIV stick. . .

Speaking of Teeth I got something insanely awesome today.
A huge jawbreaker

Best dollar I've ever spent.

Got in a solid chunk of gaming tonight.

Started Ninja Gaiden II and played through the first 2 chapters. Had no problems until the boss of chapter II which took a good 10+ tries. And I'm playing on Acolyte. I suck at action games. :(

After that I hoped on and played a couple hours of CoD4 with CAGs. Good times.

As for the platformer debate, I'd have to give the nod to Ratchet and Clank over Mario Galaxy, even though I only played the first one. The added shooter elements put it ahead for me. Mario Galaxy was damn good, but just didn't suck me in as much. I got sick of it after beating it and never bothered getting all the stars (had around 100 I think before I quit and eventually ditched my Wii).

Force Unleashed, now that I've upgraded pretty much everything, is getting very, very repetitive. Just like God of War. I'm about done with it.. I'm at the Bull Rancor fight.

//edit: Metal Slug 7 is extremely, extremely easy.

It's a really cool game. But it was said in the 360 topic about the game that if it didn't have the Star Wars license to it, it would have been forgettable. True statement IMO. You're not too far from the end, maybe 3 or 4 levels. I'm done with it too. My rant is in the 360 topic. Sick story, shitty execution is how I feel about it at the end of the day.

In other gaming news... hah. Lego Star Wars is pissing me off. I'm on the hunt for a new game... A high fun factor is a must. Time to do some shopping around....

So I take it nobody wants to gameshare WipEout HD after all. Great. Way to be "Cheap Ass Gamers" guys.

I put the homebrew channel on my Wii today ::whee:: Now I can watch DVDs on it and.. Play SCUMMvm! I've got Day of the Tentacle, Indiana Jones, and Sam N' Max on there! With Wiimote support!

Yes I own all the original CDs for those still. I'm interested in the Quake port as well. Quake with Wiimote could be fun.

I don't think I'm going to get Chrono Trigger DS right away.. I still have the SNES version, and they're not adding much.. But Dragon Quest IV is a lot better than I thought, I'm really enjoying it.
