I'm sure all you need to do is log onto WFC in some form and then log out and Iwata will hook you up.

I'm sure all the people not getting have since turned off their systems and will have the letter once they log on.

I tried going to your town again and got the same error (86420), do you have a firewall or anything?

I got the same error when trying to connect with my friend, so he hooked his computer up directly to cable modem (he had USB dongle) and I was able to connect to him.

I have the Nintendo Wi-FI usb adapter, and all the necessary ports are open, so It shouldn't be a problem, as I have had people connect before... As for connecting directly to the cable modem, thats a big no-can-do.
 
Well, I posted my friend code in the stickied WiFi thread, but most of the AC action seems to be over here now.

I should be on again tonight (10-12 Eastern). I'm going to try to give some things to my daughter who just got her DS back from having stuck pixels repaired (screens replaced presumably). We're about 2500 miles apart right now, so it will be pretty cool to do the AC thing with her - we've done it using local connection before, but never the WiFi. Anyone else is welcome to check out my town during that time as well. Just PM me this evening and I'll add you in. I've already added several people from the other thread, but have yet to visit another CAG (or have one visit me).

I've got a Nookington's, and Oranges as my native fruit (take all you want). There might be a few peaches or coconuts to trade though I harvested many of them yesterday :D. I'm looking for any other fruits.

I've gone to 4 Best Buy's in the DC area but no luck finding a Nintendo WiFi adapter. I'll need it next week when I'm back in the hotel. One of the 4 actually had a white Nintendo WiFi adapter box with a price written on it (and apparently I missed the last one by an hour). At the other 3, I'm not even sure if they knew what I was talking about. I really wanted to use that $10 coupon to get it. Seems wasteful to spend more on the adapter than on the 1 game I'll use it with :D.

Anyone know exactly what old-school furniture is? Hopper, one of my neighbors, keeps telling me he's collecting old-school furniture. The only items the guide has listed that sound similar are the old brick wall and the old flooring. Are those the old-school items?

I feel weird saying this, but I've become really attached to some of my neighbors. Hopper and Deena are two of my original neighbors (Stiches is the 3rd, also still living in my town). I find Hopper hilarious and I also like Deena. Ribbot is another neighbor who moved into my town who I couldn't live without. If any one of those three moved I'd actually really miss them. And I've actually had to talk Hopper out of moving out of my town about 5 times now. Deena's also tried to move out once. One neighbor which moved that I kinda miss is Lobo. He has the same personality as Hopper (cranky), I guess I like the cranky bastards.

And yukine, your blue bench and pinball machine came in the mail today. I'll be around tomorrow, so pm me if you wanna pick them up.

It's never the villagers you want to move out that do. Elmer and Big Top are 2 that I don't care much for, so I just never talk to them. But yet, THEY NEVER MOVE! It seems like the game looks to see who you are attached to on the relationship "score" and then has them pack up.

Also, I love how their homes are dynamic: they add/remove and move furniture around. It's fun to see an item you sent to them sitting in their home. However, I notice that they rarely ask for favors. Maybe once a week someone will ask me to deliver a letter to someone (conveniently standing two trees away), whereas in the original game, you would be constantly delivering items for one animal after another.

I do get attached to my residents, but for some reason, I can never get a picture from them. I think I'm doing everything right? I send them letters with presents, talk with them, and run errands for them every single day.

Edit: Damn, I lost the fishing tourney, well there is always next year I guess. :bomb:

I know what you mean - I just had Rod (mouse) move out on me and I had been talking to him regularly and sending presents all the time. I didn't know you could talk someone out of it. Do you have to do this several times? I tried about 5 times with Rod and then gave up - he kept saying he had to move. I also have been unable to get pictures from anyone. My coolest resident is Agent S (squirrel wearing a racing helmet :D). I *really* want to get his picture and I've been doing all I can, but nothing yet.

And I too was wondering about the favors thing - I've only had 2 or 3 requests. I'm glad they toned it down a bit from the GC version, but it seems like they went too far.

I had that wierd visiting cat (Blanca) whose face you draw. She said her face was from someone named Tusaka in ".hack". Is that anyone from here? I was in Yukine's town a few days ago, so I assume the cat came as a result of that (or is it just from connecting to Nintendo WiFi? In which case this Tusaka could be anyone in the world I suppose).

Yukine, I won my fishing tourney with a 100 inch Tuna - just beat out Agent S. I had never even caught a Tuna before.

Keep talking to them until they say something about reconsidering, and then send them a letter with a gift. That's seemed to work for me. I just make sure the last thing they say to me is about *maybe* changing their minds.

I believe that Blanka comes to your town if you choose to allow mysterious visitors via the download options on the phone in your bedroom. I have had Blanka in my town around 3 or 4 times.

I know, I find this aspect really cool as well. I talked with Angus in another CAG's town and then he moved to my town about a week later. At first I thought it was a coincidence, but he actually talked about living in the other town. I thought that was a nice touch. He has since moved away, not sure if it was to another CAG player or not.
 
I've noticed quite a few people have had trouble getting pictures, I've gotten about 5 so far and from what i've noticed it works best if you just stand there "idle" when one of the characters sees you, you hear that "DING" noise, like the want to tell you something, and then after talking to them they will give you the picture.

I've had Agent S from before I connected to WiFi, so I'm sure it isn't the same one. And Agent S is a girl? Hard to tell with that helmet on :D. I had an animal move out of my town and my daughter says he showed up in hers a few days later. I will have to check with her to see if he mentions living in my town before. That would be pretty cool - and a nice touch by Nintendo as someone said. Yukine - if you get Rod in your town see if he remembers me :D.

Why are there two different Animal Crossings for DS? Looks to be the same packaging, just different UPC and different item code. Is there a difference between the two?
 
I'd like to borrow someone's golden axe... I know this may be impossible, but I just need it so I can chop down all of my trees so I can grow orchards!

I've just been doing a little a day. Pick an area of town and convert it to orchards. I go through 1 axe roughly every 2 days. I still like to have some trees in my town in the interim, especially for shaking for bells and items.
 
Hmmm... doing lots of time travelling are we? You'd have to in order to get all the fish to get the golden fishing rod. I think I'm pretty much done with all the ones I can catch this season, so fishing is getting boring.
 
just visited yukine yesterday over wifi yesterday, first time doing so, must admit it was pretty damn cool. i hope to see some of you online so i can enjoy more of the wifi experience...

As far as the AC clock goes, it appears to follow real time and not a sped up version like FFXI. So, Tom Nook's store closes at 11pm and I get home at 11:30pm from work. Any chance I can buy stuff without changing the internal clock of the DS?
