Acorn Helps Pimp and Working Girl Land a Loan

You guys are justified to be pissed about this. ACORN will go down because of the one extra person.

So what's next? Maybe we should start going undercover with every business and shut every one down that has a few bad apples.

Several years ago, Methodist Hospital in Indy had several nurses that overdosed infants. None of them got fired. Maybe since they endorse infanticide, we should just shut the whole thing down. I mean, obviously, there's a culture of baby killers going on over there.

For every other business (like Acorn) that has received millions in tax payer dollars and applied for bailout money, I absolutely think that's acceptable.

Hospitals get all sorts of tax breaks. Shut em all down when someone dies on the premises.

What about churches? Let's shut every single one of the down if every donation isn't used for upkeep or helping the poor.

Your best argument is that we shouldn't hold a company accountable for its employees consistent illegal actions (consistent being the important point here) because if we did we'd have to close down hospitals and churches.
That almost sounds like fear mongering. You really need to figure out when you're in a losing battle and give up. There is no defending this organization. Even the spineless cowards in the Senate are distancing themselves from this organization.
It's even more laughable since at 4 completely separate offices, the employees all acted identically illegally. Surely that couldn't be because they were instructed to do the very things which they're now being fired for. No, that makes way too much sense. It must be because Glenn Beck got out his mind control machine to force them to act that way for a day.

Don't these people get paid by commission ?

Like how Best Buy will try to get you to get one of their credit cards and when you tell them you are unemployed/undermeployed they say "we'll just make something up " to help you get approved. Because they get a bonus every time they sign someone up?

I'm not surprised a couple low-lifes would act like this for monetary gain. You'd find these types at any company.

Blah blah, more smears from the right wing media. Good thing that the real media ignored this faux news. ACORN has been a great help to the black community, and these baseless smears are just another one of right wing's racist attempts to keep them down and make Obama look bad. Notice how all their victims are black? This is RACISM, pure and simple. Also isn't ACORN planning to sue these right wing hacks for slander? Supposedly all these videos are heavily edited with voices dubbed in.

Notice how all their victims are black? This is RACISM, pure and simple.

You know that you're dealing with a moron who has lost an argument when they play the race card. Did you even see the last video? It's funny how that black victim you're speaking about is kind of not black at all. She's white.
You should go back to claiming the other lie before, that this is totally isolated to one location. Did I say one? I meant 2. Well, actually 3. Ok, fine, 4, but totally not more then that.
Kudos to Myke for giving up on defending these proofs against Darwin.

That O'Keefe guy posted on twitter that he wouldn't grant NBC an interview until they admitted they were a disgrace to journalism.

Did anyone see the Chris Wallace interview of Dick Cheney? It was like a 14 year old girl interviewing the Jonas Brothers:

WALLACE: So even these cases where they went beyond the specific legal authorization, you're OK with it?
CHENEY: I am.

No follow up, he then went on to ask questions about Eric Holder. This is journalism? I mean, what Fox is doing is brilliant. Discrediting other networks by claiming they're ALL part of the 'Main Stream Liberal Media' and they all have a bias and you should go to Fox news for 'Fair & Balanced' 'We Report You Decide' journalism. Having one token liberal on a panel doesn't make you fair nor balanced.

Big Government, who is releasing the videos, has confirmed there are atleast 2 more videos. One will be released tonight at 9 PM EST.
Remember though, this is all totally isolated and is nothing but the politics of hate. That's why Acorn has stopped operations effective immediately and has fired all the employees who have been outed so far.

So ... like the US military, AMIRITE?

Hey, I'm not gonna defend ACORN -- if they're stupid enough to know there's a guy trying to troll them repeatedly and they still fall for it, they deserve whatever's coming to them. But for all the supposed third-party patriots, libertarians, and Ron Paul Reveres supposedly on CAG, there's no lack of right-wing talking points you guys won't show up supporting, and no "left"-wing nuance you can't ignore. I dunno. Maybe I'll start calling myself a Whig. No, I won't stop voting Democrat, but I'll seem like a real rebel to people who don't look very closely.

So I guess congrats are in order: now the Right has its very own Michael Moore!

I don't care about ACORN. It seems like whatever is coming is going to hit em like a freight train. Ok. Whatev's.

What gets me scratching my head is why everyone is so fixated on ACORN if what they want is to catch corporate/institutional malfeasance. We all know that probably 90% of the 100 biggest companies in the world by market cap are violating the law in some heinous way virtually all the time. No one bats an eye or stops filling their gas tank or anything else.

So why give a shit about such a small fry? I don't get it. Unless they don't actually want to catch bad guys and instead have an axe to grind..

Unpossible!

This is a good point, for the most part I view this whole thing as a distraction. The real crooks run the banks, the real crooks work in Wall Street and we should never forget that. I suspect part of it is the insult on top of injury, on some level we can accept being fooled by a sophisticated Madoff Ponzi scheme, but it's downright embarrassing when scandalous video proves that taxpayer dollars can easily be funneled to organized crime through Acorn.

I'm mildly placated by the Acorn apologies, internal investigation, and hiring freeze. Not so much with the threats to sue the reporter and rhetoric about Fox news.

I just saw the CEO of Acorn on MSNBC. She really plays it up with her image - you're telling me she can't afford a decent haircut or business wear? Even so, I give her credit for being more in touch with reality then half of the posters in this thread.

camoor, the ends never justify the means.

if they broke some Maryland law for videotaping/recording someone without their consent, and/or entrapment, they should be held accountable.

see: torture under the Bush administration

Why is it that you you two (and many in this thread) seem to totally forget the part that Acorn
RECEIVES TONS OF FU*%ING TAX PAYER FUNDING?

That's the difference. Not only have they received, but they have applied for literally billions more. Of course there are a shit ton of corrupt businesses out there, but few of them get caught being corrupt that directly take handouts from congress.

When you find another business that takes as much tax money as they do that are caught with as many 'issues', it will be big news too.

that reference to borat is pretty interesting. i thought the latest video where the lady claims she killed her husband was hilarious. but yet, so over the top, you find it hard to believe. but yeah, people generally want to pander to clients, so you'll tell them whatever it takes to make them happy.
I'm disappointed that nobody has responded to my claim that Acorn has done nothing illegal.
Because they don't actually care in the first place and whether what they say is correct is never even a consideration.

What annoys me about Hannity is whenever he has the panel on and they're talking about accusations of racism they're totally dismissive. They're evidence is 'uh....Barack Obama was elected president'.

Ok, it's official! Remember what Colbert said after Obama was elected? RACISM IS OVER!! WOOOT WE WON!!!

What about the 45.6%? None of them are racist? I'm very surprised and happy to hear that!

I don't agree. If you get Federal money, you should be subject to public monitoring. Look at the responses in this thread, if the reporter had just written what happened, Myke & co would have written it off as fantasy. Even with documented proof they are (shockingly) still arguing that this is copacetic behavior on the part of Acorn.

Even if you don't get federal money, I still support this kind of journalism. Whether you're showing the rats in Taco Bell's kitchen or the pigs in AIG's exec quarters, I want the video.

Oh boo hoo, your response resembles the typical 'I'm not a racist because I have a black friend' defense. The fact still remains that ACORN is a major source of help for the black community. The people that are after this organization is doing it simply out of racism; there are no other logical reasons. The two racists who made these fake videos are self proclaimed conservatives, so no surprise there.

That's because you aren't using logic to begin with, so you shouldn't expect to find a logical answer.

I agree with President Carter that racism is playing a role in recent outbursts against President Obama. During President Obama’s speech on the status of health care reform, some members of congress engaged in a public display of disrespect. While one Representative hurled the now infamous “you lie” insult at the President, others made their lack of interest known by exhibiting rude behavior such as deliberately yawning and sending text messages ....
---
In "Birth of a Nation," D.W. Griffith used white actors in black face to portray black legislators as having low intelligence and acting like fools. Today, we have a band of real life congressional fools seemingly bent on blocking any meaningful reform of the health care system. But if we allow even one American to die simply because he or she cannot afford treatment, we are creating a shameful scenario that could aptly be called “Death of a Nation.”

I agree with you, I'd just point out that one man's handout is another man's huge tax break from the city/country to "produce" there.

How much money are they on the hook for? I'd search myself but google starts violently vomiting when you search ACORN.

"In Obama's America, the white kids now get beat up with the black kids cheering, 'Yay, right on, right on, right on, right on...I wonder if Obama's going to come to come to the defense of the assailants the way he did his friend Skip Gates up there at Harvard."

Yep. People on the right most certainly are color-blind.

do you have any evidence that the stuff FoxNews/Glenn Beck has dug up is completely meritless?
QUOTE]

Well, the girl that GB raped and murdered in 1990 was meritless, however that wasn't dug up as much as buried...

Couldn't help it.

Many of the people that got busted admitted to doing it because they thought it was a big joke. Was it stupid? Yes. Does ACORN actually support child sex trafficking? Probably not. Let's be logical.

Why don't you guys use half of your energy to go after real pimps? There are thousands of girls out there that are really getting abused daily and you guys want to act like ACORN is the bad guy.
Does ACORN actually support child sex trafficking? Probably not. Let's be logical.

Clearly they don't support it. That's why in the last video, the guy actually offers to help them move the girls into the country illegally. It was all just a big joke. Kind of like those guys who go to 12 year old girls houses and bring condoms and alcohol. It's a joke! Get it?! Child molestation! LOL!
The more you guys defend them, the bigger idiots you make yourselves out to be. Even the political left has abandoned them. Take a hint.

Pimps and Prostitutes don't get funded by congress, that's the angle all this is coming from.

Louisiana subpoenaed Acorn's financial records yesterday, so there might be some more fun and games to come out that y'all will find more worth getting yer panties in a bunch over.

Exactly. The irony is that I wouldn't have a problem with well-regulated and taxed prostitution. It's not my bag but I'm not going to force my morality on others. But I sure as hell do not want to subsidize any form of prostitution.

Is there a tax code for prostitution? Let's look under performance arts.

HAHAHAHA

Seems like Acorn should consider using a slightly more rigorous interview/hiring procedure.
