I just picked this up a couple days ago and decided to play it this morning around 10 a.m. Fast forward to past 6 p.m., and I've finally been able to peel myself away from this game.

Wow, I really missed out on this game when it released. It was always on my to-buy list, but I just never got around to it. I checked on Game Rankings, and it averaged around a 67%, but I honestly think it's a lot better than that.

I really like the Majesco-published games, and the screenplay was written by one of my favorite authors - Orson Scott Card. He's also written the Ender series.

The game just has so many elements in it, and I think it brings them all together pretty well.

It does have it's problems, though. There is some frame rate and clipping problems, and the game has frozen up on me once.

Another nice touch is the ability to skip or replay cutscenes. While skipping cutscenes is pretty common, I really enjoy the ability to replay them in case I missed something.

Glyphx did a really nice job with this game, and I really wished it sold better. Too bad that we'll probably never see the rest of the trilogy.

If any of you guys have been thinking about picking it up, I really suggest you do. I snagged it at Gamestop for about $17. You just can't beat that.

I rented this game with high hopes but I was severely disappointed. I couldn't get more than an hour into the game because there was way too many glitches and bugs. It really ruined the experience for me. The storyline and gameplay looked like it had a lot of potential too but I just couldn't get past the bugginess of it.

I have to agree with the OP. There are glitches but the did not hinder my gameplay that it seemed to for other people.

For me the story and the pace just kept me going. I really enjoyed this game. And I really, really hope that they make the whole trilogy.
I fear they miht not because I dont think the sales were that great. But I might be wrong on that.
But play this game. It is great.

If anybody wants get rid of their Advent Rising for Xbox, check my tradelist. I'm interested in it mostly for the music.

Really? Man, that's too bad. I agree, the game does have its share of quirks, but I really didn't think they were all that bad.

Some of the things I noticed were:

- Slowdown when there's a lot of enemies on screen
- Clipping problems
- The game froze up on me once
- My character would sometimes warp across the screen

Those are really only minor problems. The slowdown was very minimal, IMO.

Man, you should you really give the game another go and try to look past its problems. The game is very rewarding.

The music is extremely badass.

I read Ender's Game a few months ago and I'm working on Ender's Shadow right now, and I really enjoy both, so I'm looking forward to trying out this game since OSC wrote the screenplay.

I agree with the OP, the game is almost perfect. The only problem I had was the targeting camera. The game also froze on me more than once. I got rid of it after the contest was cancelled but I'm looking to pick it up again now that it's 20 bucks. They should get Tommy Tallarico and Orson Scott Card to work on Halo 3 and make it the best game of all time.

I really enjoyed the story line and characters in the game, but the slowdown occured often and I thought really ruined what they were trying to accomplish the the flicking targeting system. It made certain points of the game almost unplayable.

I did finish the game and would be happy to see the story completed but the way things have gone for Majesco I do not expect the anything to happen with this series.

I think they cancelled the PSP version Advent Shadow.

I actually thought that some of the slowdown was part of a bullet-time esque feature. Most of the slowdown that I noticed always happened when I was jumping to the side and targeting an enemy.

That led me to believe it was bullet time.

It was bullet time. I hope that's not what people are complaining about when they talk about slowdown. I'm surprised at all the mediocre reviews, because I didn't experience slowdown/glitches like they described. In my opinion one of the best xbox games out there, great gameplay and story and an amazing soundtrack.

I can't praise this game enough. One of my favorite games of all time. Great story, challenging and original gameplay, awesome music. I can only say, if you've played it and not maxed out the melee ability, then it must be played again. The shockwave punch to the ground is one of the coolest things I've ever seen in a game.

This game was the reason I wanted to keep my Xbox...but when it got delayed for the 1234384th time I ended up selling my Xbox...oh well, I wonder how it is on the PC...
