Yeah, actually that is what they do- overnight a replacement. I've had to do that before when I received a damaged product.

When no one can locate the package and the carrier says they haven't received it, I am more than justified in complaining. They also have not even hinted at any sort of compensation.

This coming from the guy who admitted he wanted to punch a Target manager in the face because he wouldn't give you an Xbox Live subscription card for $19.99? Really? Come on now.
You're lucky. THe manager I dealt with was a dick and I wanted to punch him in the face.... which would not have been good so I didn't.
You shoudlve read my account of it. (previously posted) It wasn't for not giving me the subscription card. It was for making stuff up and acting like I was a moron who couldn't read. The deal, I can always do without. And, of course, wanting to punch someone in a fleeting moment, is not exactly punching someone.

And do you know why I didn't punch him? Cause I took a deep breath. ;)

Neat, well you can blame the scammers who have said the same to Amazon in that situation and have gotten two copies of whatever item. THAT'S why they're waiting the weekend. It's 3 days, get over it fella. Amazon will help you out as they always do.

Ok guys, enough. You guys should be spending less time arguing with each other and more time telling me how awesome this game looks on my bookshelf.

The better question is how does it look next to a kindle?

Did you not read what I wrote? You can't blame "scammers" since the package has not been shown as having been delivered, so the possibility of me "scamming" them doesn't exist, and thus my situation has no relation to what you mentioned.

They finally wrote back, and insultingly offered to make me a "one time exception", like I did something wrong when THEY were at fault. I called OnTrac, the carrier, and they don't even operate in Indiana. Yet Amazon says the package was received by the carrier in Indianapolis on the morning of 9/15.

The link the rep sent me in the e-mail took me to the exact same page I went to before, which said, "This item needs special handling. Please contact Customer Service to return this item." That was why I contacted customer service in the first place, and they just sent me right back to where I started!

Here's the e-mail:

So, basically, they're just giving me the runaround.

This is hilarious... You're asking a company, who's main intention is to make money, to send you another game free of charge when the first one had a minor screw up and can't be determined as lost, yet. Give it some fucking time.

I guess this is reason enough for you to never shop from Amazon again.

I had no problems getting it delivered; ordered it Monday, it shipped Wednesday and got here Thursday afternoon. Once they determine it's actually lost, they'll do something. Amazon offers some of the best customer service I've seen. And again, it's 3 days. 72 hours. Not that big of a deal, they aren't asking to wait a full week or a month.

Not to mention, look how fast they're even responding. It took 3 effin days for Cengage to respond about CDs I ordered for class.
Is this game worth owning? My brother bought it and beat it in one sitting i'm yet to play it and Reach is coming out tuesday and fifa at end of month
It was about 10 hours for me when I played through. I plan to replay it again sometime, it's really fucking good. Easily the best game on disc for Xbox. Plus, with the LE you get developer commentary which is pretty cool.

Might have to pick this up. I'll have to think about it for maybe 5 minutes or something.

I might get this then trade it on goozex for 1200 points. It seems like it's hard to get new games on goozex though. A lot of them are highly requested so that it would take awhile to finally get a copy. But then again, I've never got a game from it, just sent some in.

Well, for the most part all of what makes this a great LE is on the disc not as one shot codes. Commentary, two themes, one avatar reward, plus the physical goodness like the novel, etc.

Really the only things missing in a complete used copy would be the one use code for The Signal DLC. (Which would set you back 7 bucks.)
Why? Why did you have to post this? Reach comes out Tuesday and now I have the sudden urge to spend $40 more dollars... Damn you! lol
Mercy!

A) I did not ask them to send me another game "free of charge". They can determine whether or not it was ever delivered.

B) They're the ones who said it was probably lost.

C) They claim to have sent the game to the carrier in a place in which the carrier, OnTrac, does not even do business. Amazon screwed up. The lost package is their responsibility.

They've responded quickly, but the responses have not helped me out one bit, so what good are they? Also, never did I say this would cause me not to shop on Amazon again.

Basically, everything both of you said has nothing to do with what I actually said, and is therefore irrelevant.

That's funny, because everything you're posting has nothing to do with the Alan Wake Limited Edition, and is therefore irrelevant.

I got mine in the mail yesterday, and it's very well made. Thanks to everyone in this thread who posted relevant comments and convinced me to purchase it.
Ok guys, enough. You guys should be spending less time arguing with each other and more time telling me how awesome this game looks on my bookshelf.
By the way ZForce, I hate you. Shaq-fuing hate you. I saw your collection of black dustcover B&N classics and spent like 3 hours yesterday looking at books. And I will probably pick up a few of their leatherbound classics today.

Shaq-fuing CAG...

matt, you are better off calling amazon customer service during the day so you can speak to an american. ive definitely received email replies from them in the past that had absolutely no relavence to my problem.

haha, I LOL'd at that.

I used to work for B&N about a decade ago and I think these were about $6 each and I got 30-40% off books as an employee. So each week I'd pick one up and I have 19 of them total. There were plenty more to pick from but not much that I was truly interested in reading.

Good luck with the hunt!

It all has to do with my problems receiving the copy of the game that I paid for. The stuff I quoted before was in regards to people claiming I said things that I never did say.

I finally got a hold of somebody and they agreed to send me another one. If the original package is found and delivered (OnTrac still says they haven't received it; Amazon's tracking info is unchanged; I wouldn't count on it) they said I could either refuse delivery of the package, or I'd get charged for both copies. That's exactly what I wanted and is fair to both me and Amazon.

Sounds like we need to get this thread back on track and cut the whining.

Ordered mine on Thursday. I'm a prime member and it shipped same day. Not really a problem but when did amazon start shipping USPS priority mail for prime members? Either way, it arrived today. Nice packaging and it looks nice on my shelf with the other games.

I'm starting to think if they can get something to a prime member on Saturday by USPS vs Monday by UPS they do it that way. Got Halo Reach today delivered by USPS.

I chose free shipping (not a prime member) and it was delivered by USPS today. Maybe the fact that I ordered Halo: Reach and Bioshock 2 (delivered in the same package as Alan Wake) earlier this week helped a bit. :whee:

God damn, its been a pretty great week for deals. My wallet doesn't think so, though...
Dammit, when i finally get some money for me to buy this, the deal dies. I missed out barely.
lol, me too... it was in my cart this whole time, and tonight when i finally decide to checkout, it's up by $21...

i'm actually still thinking of getting it at this price, though... game looks really fun and the CE looks amazing

I just had it in my saved list and saw the jump too.

I should be getting the copy i ordered last sunday on mon or tues. Excited.
i sold my brand new regular last week, which i got a few weeks ago for half off.

Got my CE yesterday, and when I opened it, I was surprised that the book that held the games actually felt like a real book, cool stuff.

One of the best CE's I've bought in a while.

Strange, ordered mine on 9/12 and been in shipping soon status stating shipping estimate is 9/20. Usually get things real fast, has anyone encountered this?

Oh well this is what I get for waiting for the price to drop further. Will just buy it on the next round when people stop buying it again leading to over stock.

Same here, ordered same day, has been in shipping soon status for several days with estimated shipping date of 9/20.

Not really worth it for the extra money. Good deal for $40 though.

Don't fret it, there will be cheaper prices :)

The fact that Neweggs have it for $50 is still a good sign.
Does the regular edition also come with the DLC? or maybe it was when it first released...
Yes, any new copy will have it.

Ahh finally shipped status cannot wait to add this to my collection, hope yours has also.
