when i got my ps3 about 2 months ago I had 0 blu rays...then 2 or 3 weeks weeks ago i got my first blu ray(UP 4 disc combo) as well as an hdtv...these past 2 days i have gone on a blu frenzy and obtained like 15+ blus averaging about 11$-12 each including relatively new releases like star trek 2009, gone with the wind etc. this black friday wasnt so bad :)

[quote name='StuBeck']Did anyone's PS3 order ship yet? Me being a consumer whore, paid for saturday shipping, and it stated it was "getting ready" from about noon on yesterday...but still no tracking number.[/QUOTE]
Mine has (really surprised since I went with free shipping). I got the e-mail about an hour ago.

Mine was shipped got the e-mail at 9:30pm checked the tracking # and it was picked up by fedex at 4pm should arrive later today. Yours was probably shipped also might be amazon hasn't had time to update your order.

wasn't nearly as comprehensive as last year. disappointing because i am buying gifts for quite a few different people. Deals were more conservative this year, and felt like i had to find them more often... so i missed a few. would've been great had i known about Wii Sports resort with an extra sensor.

whatever, i understand. the world has shrunk since last November... retail had to change or perish. however the week/of BF doesn't work for me at all. Especially in a bad economy, most people are working extra hours all week long. Thanksgiving is one of the few times I can regroup and set some kind of game plan for what to buy family/friends for the holidays. I didn't do nearly as well this year (and I pay tax on everything now).

Amazon is still my favorite, but i'll know not to put as many eggs in their basket next year.

Looking back, I guess Amazon couldn't really have topped themselves after the glory that was Black Friday 2008.

[quote name='SuperJedi']So let me tell you what I got from Amazon this week in total

Street Fighter IV $19.99
A couple of CDs for $5, $6.50
A few Blu-rays (They PMed Best Buy, Target, Wal-mart mostly)

Best was the Fringe Blu-ray for $27.99

I hope Amazon reads this thread and ACT on Sunday and Monday!!![/QUOTE]

I felt that Amazon did a superb job this year. Spent a good amount on items that interested me. Prices listed reflect the NY online tax.

GhostBusters Slimer Edition - $21.50 (Only 6500 made) Used $10 off code I had.
Tekken 6 Bundle - $65.30 - Retails for $149.99. $129.99 on Amazon
Soul Calibur IV + Afro Samurai - $21.74
Brutal Legend - $38.09
Fast & Furious (Blu Ray) - $10.88
Transformers (Blu Ray) - $14.14
Ultimate Bond Collection - 10 Movies (Blu Ray) - $65.31 - Retails for $159.99

Total comes out to $236.96

I made out great this year on Black Friday. This does not include all of the other games that I picked up at other stores like BestBuy, GameStop & Newegg.

They may have something for Cyber Monday but I doub't it'll be anything great. Cyber Monday's usually aren't all that interesting.

yea, I feel like amazon did a great job this year, I do not understand the hate.

Games were awesome, but the movie section really kicked ass...right now I have almost $400 dollars worth of DVDs and BDs that I need to drop to a VERY VERY low price...lowest I went was $210, I am stuck here and do not know what to drop (I only have 400 left on my credit card, and that needs to last until the semester ends/next begins...so January).

The problem with that is, IMO, most people would rather get a good deal on a game vs a movie (a dvd at that)

[quote name='fart_bubble']the PS3 version was $30, I bought one[/QUOTE]
that's so not fair. I already knew that, but...reading it right just made me bitter all over again.

Ended up with L4D2 @ $35 and a boatload of great BR deals including X-Men Trilogy at $29.99.

Very happy that I didn't have to wait in line or in the cold. Although I did wish I jumped on NBA2k10 for $25 when it first rolled out!

Thanks! If you received an e-mail an hour ago, that makes me feel better. I'm assuming they haven't updated the website because of the number of orders, just would feel a bit more warm and fuzzy if it said "shipped, but no tracking number yet".

face it amazon just sucked this year... compair to B M stores

meijers had 50% off all games 19.99 or less with over 200 to pick from yesterday

got more crap off stores then amazon.. highly doubt i will renew my prime since amazon seems to not have that many deals anymore

will get flame for saying it by all of the amazon lovers but amazon just sucked this year.. not a single game deal today.. amazon really #$#$# it up this year

Decided to buy the ghostbusters slimer edition for $29.95. Only 6500 made, and the slimer bust is apparently very nice looking.

I know this is the least likely deal to happen, but I really wish Ar Tonelico for the PS2 would go on sale. I refuse to pay 50 bucks for the game even though I really want it. I can get it for 35 from Play-Asia if I wanted to, but I'd rather use the credit from Amazon.

it's 17.99 used at GS. Got mine in the B2G1 free the other day.

Unfortunately I don't live anywhere near a GS. All sold out online as well. I guess when I go home for Christmas I can check some of the local stores.

So what games did amazon have for $5 last year? Any good stuff? Or just a bunch of terrible games that I wouldnt even want to play if i got them for free.

Maybe since they've got the format going where there are great deals for a supposed week straight, maybe they're spreading out the best for last over the last couple days... possibly...

On the negative side of things, you guys can call each other spoiled brats for whining and whatnot, but when there are better deals on Thursday than actual Black Friday, something's amiss. There have been some solid deals, but making that Batman: AA DotD $15 higher today than it was on Thursday is pretty sneaky sis.

Anyway, it's looking grim, but I'm not giving up all hope quite yet. Perhaps they're planning on really living up to Cyber Monday's name, unlike last year where it was just leftovers and scraps from the weekend sales bonanza. Or maybe they're planning on just not pulling out the big guns, like most stores this year. We'll see.

I actually cashed out hotel points (about half my free hotel stays due to a lot of business travel) for over $1,200.00 in Visa gift cards for Amazon's BF, I've got $650 left and $283.16 of Amazon gift card balance left.

So with the $100 Xbox 360 credit I spent, I gave Amazon $316 of the expected $1,300 I was hoping to spend. Newegg got $50 for a SATA Blu-ray internal Drive.

Looks like I'll be ordering some new releases next year with what is left for some time.

Last year was great and made me a loyal Amazon guy all year (90% of my purchases for games and movies was Amazon this year). This year there were some pops, but no big bangs for me. No where as many deals, but I also had a lot of the stuff they put up already too.

Having nothing at all in videogames on Saturday is a bit of a slap in the face; they are aware of the community and how much business we give them. Lets hope Sunday is better, as far as Monday goes... for people who work, this new lightning deal format stinks; lets hope they have a lot of deals in the morning as most people will get fired for being on their site during the day.

I actually scored pretty well. I had a budget of $220 and a wife who would make sure it was not overspent!

I grabbed:
Tomb Raider: Underworld [PS3] - $17 - Amazon (sold through some other company; been wanting this)
Scribblenauts [DS] - $17 - Amazon
Batman: AA [PS3] - $20 - Amazon (Discover Card $10 off deal)
TWEWY [DS] - $10 - Amazon
Price is Right [Wii] - $10 - Amazon
Afro Samurai [PS3] - $10 - Amazon
Shaun White Snowboarding [PS3] - $7 - Amazon (Have for 360, but play mostly PS3 now)
Boom Blox Bash Party [Wii] - $15 - Amazon
Tales of Symphonia [Wii] - $10 - Amazon
Soul Calibur IV [PS3] - $10 - Amazon
Klonoa [Wii] - $10 - Amazon
Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood [PS3] - $20 - Best Buy (Kicking myself for not waiting for Amazon)
Chrono Trigger [DS] - $10 - NewEgg (Think Amazon matches this too! *kick*)
Blue Dragon Plus [DS] - $7 - Amazon (Meh.. $7)
Sonic Chronicles [DS] - $5 - Amazon (Great deal)
Big Beach Sports [Wii] - $10 - Amazon (Kids and I played it... surprisingly good!)
GhostBusters CE [PS3] - $30 - Amazon (Steal at that price)

I also nabbed a Blue/Black DS Lite for $98 and a Crimson DS Lite ($119; Discover Card $10 deal) since I missed the first one. My kids wore out there old ones to death!

I also nabbed NUMEROUS DVDs and Blu-Rays like Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, Harry Potter: OOTP, GhostBusters, etc...

I also got some Christmas shopping done for the kids and wife (probably 10 or so items between them). I think I have like 25 packages coming Tuesday which means the UPS guy is gonna kill me!

To me, Amazon came through. As stated by others, I only lost sleep and gained a ton of entertainment. I stand by Amazon 100% and will continue to abuse my yearly Prime membership with great deals all year long. C'mon, free shipping and no tax (for most) is a cut above anywhere else and it truly adds up!

Funny, everyone drools over last year's Amazon deals. I don't remember them being all that great last year either. I mean, I stupidly passed on Cooking Training (or whatever that is) for $5 because I thought it was shovelware and didn't realize it was a brand new Nintendo-published title. I grabbed a few other DS games for dirt cheap - but none of them stick out to me now as I can't even remember what they were.

Anyway, price tracker shows Drgaon Age Origins and Brutal Legend for both systems being $39.99 now. Interesting...

The deals actually didn't differ that much (this year/last year). In fact if you include the pre BF deals this year was better. It is just a PIA when they don't go live all at once.

That means they might bring DA:O and BL to at least $34.99 again by Monday. Just a hunch.

Anyone know of a decent 1:1 flip on console games? I need to move this $40 of promo credit since I was expecting it to be gone Friday (BFLoL).

Amazons deals were pretty good to me. I usually go out to the stores very early on Black Friday, but this was a very good substitute.

[quote name='iPhone']Looking back, I guess Amazon couldn't really have topped themselves after the glory that was Black Friday 2008.[/QUOTE]

Why? What did they have last year?

[quote name='kross036']Uncharted 2 is 49.99 right now for those of you that care...[/QUOTE]

A lot of new games were at 30-35... I wish this was too! That is one of the things I was hoping for.

Here's what I bought on BF last year:

Tomb Raider: Underworld PC $30
FarCry 2 PC: $18
Heavenly Sword $20
Fallout 3 PC $30
Left 4 Dead PC $20
Dead Space PS3 $30

This year? Nothing. Well unless you count the $32 spent on three BDs. Everything above was practically new releases (save for Heavenly Sword which is still overpriced) and blows away any deal they had this year.

They had GTA4 and SC4 for $10 this year. I'd say that was good.

To me, Black Friday is a day to pick up all the non-AAA titles I missed over the year, so with that at my goal, I made out perfectly. I try not to expect semi-new titles to be discounted too heavily, but if they are I buy!

well last year, the good deals were actually on Black Friday and onward, not this pre-BF nonsense. i think most people were expecting those good deals to lead up to even better deals on BF, which logically makes sense. there were a few good deals this year, but i don't see how it's better than last year's showstopper deals like 20$ L4D and mass frenzy of $5 - $10 titles that left us in awe by any stretch.

it just didn't feel the same this year, but at least there were good deals to be had

Yeah, my point was that the semi-new releases were MIA for great deals. Nothing fell below 50% save for a Batman LD and Borderlands.
