These are a different line of characters though. There's also differences between the two. I doubt they will stop selling the older ones any time soon.

Definitely plausible. I've decided to avoid the bloodbath, and just ordered mine from Amazon.co.uk, where I'm paying about $20 CAD (shipping included, slightly offset by ordering other items along with it), and it's shipping today for delivery by February 4.

I've confirmed that I'll be one of the people receiving Shulk and Sheik in a later shipment, which is too bad, but at least they know they WILL be fulfilling the order later. This wave has some of the most ridiculously rare amiibo yet, with my local store getting only TWO Shulk and ONE King Dedede.

 
I appreciate EBgames making an effort to provide some information at least. I have my pre-orders for Wave 3 through Amazon, but after the Wave 2 mess from them I'm regretting it a bit. Looks like I'll be out hunting for a few of the rare ones of the 30th unless I receive my order shipment e-mail from Amazon.

Amazon has been sending me information of the shipping dates for some of my Amiibos. So far, I have dates for Sonic/Toon Link and Dedede.

My only issue with this batch, is how we will be able to get Rosalina and Luma with Target closing up soon. Not to mention I have to run out on the 6th for Lucario, if that is his release date.

Its scarcity can't be attributed to scalpers; it was pre-orderable for one day, and they were limited to one per customer. They're just very limited, like Pit or Captain Falcon.

Pretty sure there was no limit when I saw it appear on the website day one. Luckily I was the first person to pre-order Shulk and Ike, so mine is guaranteed.

There wasn't a limit for the U.S one.... I thought for canada there was always a limit and it was gone really quick... by the time i knew it was up, it was gone.... Back then I wanted to preorder from the states but they wouldn't allow me to do delivery, pickup only... I didn't feel like driving across the border on a specific day just for a plastic doll...

There was only a very small amount reserved for the website. Almost all of the Shulks were allocated to be presold in stores, where mass pre-orders for scalpers would not happen.

 
Sheik, Ike and Dedede just shipped from Amazon.ca for me. Mega Man is still waiting for a date.

Good grief.  I just noticed that the Super Mario series went up for pre-order yesterday from Best Buy and Future Shop.  Toad, of course, being the only new character, and the only one usable in Captain Toad, is sold out.  We need better notice of these things!  I'm checking sites three times daily and still missing out.  Oh well, ordering him from the UK allows me to share his shipping cost with Big Hero 6 3D.

Those amiibo were announced during the last Nintendo Direct, I think. As for finding out when pre-orders start, um, Twitter? It's my goto source, next to CAG and RFD. But I only ever share here, never on RFD.

I never miss a Nintendo Direct! But finding out when pre-orders start is harder. Do you just follow the retailers on Twitter? I just found the Canadian amiibo Hunters subreddit, and it looks to be a promising, fast-moving place to lurk.

I was there, refreshing Future Shop like a madman. She was supposed to go live at 12 am PST, but didn't get added until 12:52. She lasted (and I'm not even kidding, check the forums if you want timestamps as proof) 10 seconds. I added her into my cart with 57 left in stock, clicked Checkout, and she was sold out.

I stayed up until 2:30 am PST to try to get her from Best Buy, but after two-and-a-half hours she was still a no-show, so I gave up.

Gettin' real tired of this.

EB Games went up and sold out in 4 seconds. Brick and mortar stores will be getting two each. Toys 'R' Us already came and went in stores, and likely won't go online. I have zero faith in Wal-Mart. In fact, I have zero faith in the North American supply of any amiibo anymore, so I'm just ordering them all online form Europe.

My EBGames received stock in the afternoon, and I was able to buy one. I don't think any of the Toys R Us here had them in yet, and the one I found it one at was a return. I spoke to one of the Walmarts near me, and they said they should have it up by tomorrow or so.

I wish it would track Amazon. Looks like that's my only option for Link now anyways. VGP is selling him for $19.99 >_>. Also, I think it's a bit out of date. I've seen some of the Amiibos it claims to be "out of stock" at those same retails.
