Others on sale: Keepsake, ECHO: Secrets of the Lost Cavern, Law and Order: Criminal Intent, Nancy Drew, Dark Fall, Egyptian Prophecy, Syberia, Secret Files: Tunguska
Everyone buy Indigo Prophecy or i'll gut you.
Indeed.

It's a horribly underrated and overlooked game.

^ I've been meaning to try it out. Busy with Ankh and Secret Files: Tunguska right now. Also want to play Murder on the Orient Express.

Indigo prophecy and Dreamfall pwns!

The seirra collections are cool if you can't get ahold of them though.

Kings Quest, Police Quest.....

I miss playing classic Adventure Games. Is Indigo Prophecy a lot like the old type adventure games or is it something totally different? I'm really thinking about picking this up.

It's really totally different. I would watch some gameplay videos before you decide whether to get the game. I love the game, but be aware it is NOT a traditional style adventure game.
Dream fall looks very female oriented..is it?
Those of you who are thinking of Dreamfall, I do have to mention it is the second game in an eventual trilogy. The first game is The Longest Journey. The first is a traditional point and click adventure, while Dreamfall is third person direct control with some action and stealth elements.

Wow I didn't know there were so many adventure gamers here. I don't know how many of those games are really good, other than Indigo Prophecy.

When did the first game come out and how much is it?

Buy Indigo Prophecy? I don't think so. I won't support such blatant censorship. I'd rather pirate a game than support a publisher that censors titles.
Everyone buy Indigo Prophecy or i'll gut you.
Is it the uncensored or heavily censored version? Because don't waste your time with the censored version :bomb:

I got King's Quest Collection and magical Starsign, $29.98 shipped. Can't wait. King's Quest is for my better half. Hope she still likes the games. :D
There is nothing wrong with the U.S. version. It's just missing a sex scene. It is not game breaking.
It doesn't even make a difference it the game at all. In fact I could care less about the sex scene.

I'm sorry, but anyone not buying the game because the missing sex scene is a fucking moron.

Yeah, "censoring" as a reason not to buy a game is stupid unless they really censor someone's view. A missing sex scene isn't the core of anyone's ideology... either way I've heard great things about Indigo Prophecy - it's in my queue... I picked it up with Stubbs the ZOmbie during the CC B1G1 sale - 2 great games for 20 - YEAH

Damn...didn't know Indigo Prophecy was an adventure game. I thought it would be an action-horror game like "The Thing." Reading the review makes me want to pick it up.

^ Indigo Prophecy doesn't really fit into a genre. It's one of those unique games that you can't classify.

Since it has some adventure elements, though, people have settled with calling it an adventure game.

Its like a choose your own adventure type thing, with button pressing games. Its like an interactive movie really.

Yeah those are some of my favorite types of games, where you can just kick back, relax, not worry about dying, but still having some sort of goal. I still remember the first time I played Day of the Tentacle and Fate of Atlantis.

Heads up: You can actually purchase Indigo Prophecy (PC) from Atari's site for $9.99 shipped.

http://www.atari.com/us/games/indigo_prophecy/pc

Also, the "Director's Cut" (basically the original European version rated AO for American audiences) can be bought through Direct2Drive. Personally I would rather have a hard copy of this version or the original import if I'm going to buy this game at all, especially considering the mixed reaction it's gotten, but ah well.

Scratches is AWESOME

Keepsake is AWFUL

Indigo Prophecy sucks.

The new Nancy Drew (if its the Kapu Cave one) sucks.

Syberia sucks.

Dark Fall sucks.

Don't think I played the rest listed.

I hear those collections (LSL, Police Quest, etc) suck badly.

If you can Pick up The Longest Journey, it is one of the greatest stories in a video game ever told. It has about as much depth as Lord of the Rings, and the whole Stark/ Arcadia world and mythology has as much depth as Middle Earth.

Dreamfall was the second in the series, and they decided to make it more "mainstream". Which means there is fighting (its very easy though) and there are some stealth modes. Other than that, its a pure adventure with awesome production quality and the soundtrack will leave you breathless. Its one of those games that sparks emotion, and it continues the tale of the first, answers some questions, and leaves more questions to be answered.

Indigo prophecy is totally unlike any other game I've played, but it fits in the Adventure category more than any other, and its more of an evolution (for the better IMO) of the adventure genre.

The game was made to be cinematic, like a movie. It is like you're playing through an interactive movie (you control the character of course). The most intriguing part of the game for me was the button/action sequences. I read in an interview about the game that they were going for a psychological connectiveness to the story, using the action sequences, and it worked for me.

For example, if in the game your character is hanging onto a ledge, you have to repeatedly mash two buttons extremely fast to hold onto the ledge, which increases your heartrate and kinda tires you out, like the character is experiencing in the game.

Or, when the character is dreaming, instead of making the whole dream foggy like most movies or games do, they have you rhythmicly press a series of buttons, so you're concentrating on the sequence, but you kind of see the dream in the background and have to concentrate on what they're saying while getting the button presses correct, which is like when you're dreaming, its not always clear and you have to really concentrate on whats going on.

I hope that makes sense.

i think the main thing wrong with those collections are peoples expectations are too high. they are the same games that people give high marksfor individually but they rip the compilation for not being XP compatible, no manuals(uh, it's a shovelware release, they are not going to give 5 printed manuals and games for $20) or any other pet peeve they have.

I would definitely recommend Indigo Prophecy at that price. My wife and I got hooked on it.

Here's a question to everyone else that recommended it, though: did you finish it? Even the director of the game itself agrees that the game and storyline just fall to pieces in the last hour. Stuff comes flying out of left field that just makes you go WTF -- where did that come from? Major things are introduced in the last hour that were not foreshadowed and are not consistent with the tone of the previous 7 hours. If you played it all, you know what I mean.

Still, it's a great game for the most part. Very atmospheric, very tense, very interesting. Go play it.

Indeed Indigo Prophecy is a great game.....for the first few chapters, and then you can really tell they had to rush things and the story got really incredibly stupid. It could have been so good. I just kept thinking to myself, how did it get so so bad, so so quickly. What a disapointment.

I have to say Scratches was a good game all in all and actually had a part or two that raised hairs on the back of my neck so to say.

Another one I really enjoyed was Runaway A Road to Adventure... they are making a sequel and its probably the most like the classic point and click style of game from this bunch.

I totally recommend the Sierra collections, but if they're the new ones, you might wanna skip out--all that Vivendi has done is throw in the original games and DOS Box. The old school collections at least had DVD extra-like features, different languages, etc.--i.e. cool things you'd expect from an anthology treatment of these amazing games.

They are great games, but just be warned.

I updated the original post with links to all three platforms for Indigo Prophecy on the Atari website. $9.99 shipped for PC and $14.99 shipped for PS2 and Xbox. I recommend paying the extra five dollars and getting the console version, if possible. Unless you have a good gamepad on your PC, the console versions will be a much better choice.

Thanks OP! I've been looking for Indigo Prophecy for quite a while but it seems to be getting harder to find in stores. I'm looking forward to playing it. Thanks again!

^ That Starforce list is not accurate at all. Starforce on a game depends on the region it is sold in. For example, The Moment of Silence does NOT have Starforce in the U.S., but it does in other countries.

As far as I know, none of those games have Starforce in the U.S.

Thanks for setting me straight. I have a few of those games sitting on my shelf that I had purchased awhile back, but I have been hesitant to install them on account of the Starforce issue. Since adventure games seem to be going the way of the dinosaur, it's a relief that I can play them now.
I played a bunch of high-profile adventure games that critics universally adored and ripped them all a new one!
Good for you!

Adventure games released in the U.S. nowadays usually will not have Starforce on them anymore. The people have spoken and publishers have listened. Other countries, though, still release many games every year with Starforce.

Even though there is a low chance of a U.S. game having Starforce, still be sure to check online with people who have played the game. There still is the random game every now and then that has it, but it's getting pretty rare.

The Longest Journey is easily one of THE BEST games I have played in my life. $10 is way too low for such a good game.

Indigo Prophecy is cool, the ending sucks tho.

I agree. One of the best stories I've seen in gaming. And definitely one of the longest and most immersive adventure games ever made. It easily stands up there with the classics.

That said, I'm saying this for the adventure (point and click) lovers. If you can't stand games without action or games with LOTS and LOTS of dialogue and puzzles, then stay far away. This game is not for you.

Indigo Prophecy is great, Longest Journey is simply a must-have without question, and Dreamfall is highly recommended to those who already have Longest Journey.
