Amazon.com Dead Space 2 Collector's Ed. PC version $69.82 (reg. $79.99)
Let me know when this game hits $14.95 which should take about 6 months. :)
This is a joke post, right?

Dude, DS 1 came out in the fall of '08 if I'm correct, and never hit $20 till at least a year later. Possibly after that. I may be wrong, but DS 1 held it's value for an extremely long time if I remember correctly. Also, this game looks totally badass, so it's your loss if you want to wait that long, I guess.

This coming from someone who probably has never played Dead Space.. because if you had you'd know how bad ass the game really is and how well its designed. There's sarcasm then there's straight up stupidity

I've had this preordered for a while at this price, so it's not really much of a deal... that is considering PC games are usually $10 cheaper than their console counterparts.

Anyways, I am very excited to have the living sh*t scared out of me... again! :)

Can't decide between this or the PS3 version. My computer is pretty awesome but I don't know if I want to run a HDMI able from it to my TV :(

hmm you know what 2nd poster is probably right, the first dead space drop to $20 within 8 months of release...hmm this IS EA afterall, they do this with almost every game, dont know why people keep payng MSRP for their games on release day

Those thinking of biting on this and have a PS3, don't forget about the free PS Move edition of Dead Space Extraction that comes with the PS3 CE. That alone would sway me.

It'll work with the dualshock 3 too, but not as good since it was designed for motion controls.

Maybe because 8 months is a really long time to wait for a game that you are super excited to play. The original Dead Space was one of my favorite games this gen, so I'll gladly pay MSRP to get it day 1.
Let me know when you find a CE pack-in that's more badass than a replica plasma cutter.
Nuff said, my good man! :D

And no, not even the slightly cool, but uber-cheap Master Chief helmet can hold up to the infamous plasma cutter.

Exactly that's like saying oh lets wait ten years after the new Camaro SS came out in 2010 because the price is too high, (waaaaah) to only get it a little cheaper 5-10 years from now.

Meanwhile I'm driving it fresh, no miles on it no others driven it. And I'm enjoying it that entire time others are "waiting" to get one. It's worth it I already have my Special Edition ordered at the original version cost from EA. And will be playing it hardcore the day it comes out.

There's some games I like and don't have to have the day they come out.Nothing about price dropping. Then there's others that can't wait to get my hands one...February till Spring I'll be useless due to DeadSpace 2 releasing in a week or so and then my Game of the Year Killzone 3 in the end of February :whee::whee::whee:

I don't know if well designed and badass is equivalent to lots of jump scares + music/sound that kinda gives away when things are coming up. But it was a fun game.

I'd actually say the game was well designed and put innovation into action really well. So used to head-shotting zombies, then DS 1, and all my years of training were scrapped. Very good game. One of the few in my collection that doesn't have multiplayer that I've played through multiple times.

Yup, same here. I almost never replay games, but I've played through Dead Space 3 times and got all the achievements (which is another thing I almost never care to do). And for those who say the game relies only on jump scares, that's just not true. Sure it has plenty of those, and on a first playthrough, they may seem to overshadow other things, but even when I replayed the game knowing where all the jump-scares were, the atmosphere was still always tense, and the music was creepy even when nothing was around. This was especially noticeable on my recent playthrough on Impossible. Also the Dead Space series is one of the rare series that actually has a story that interests me, and seems well thought out. This alone has me interested enough to want to play the full sequel right away.

So now the music the game plays just as a movie would .. being cinematic..sometimes being a prequel to a scary part and sometimes just not .. heightening your senses in preparation. The game is awesome I played it through 3 times myself. I'm a completionist I like to get every trophy task for a good game. There's a lot of kid, boring, cartoonish type games. This game is an adult game and well made all around period

Exactly! It's rare for a game to even have a good story, but Visceral has gone all out and created an entire mythos for this one. One that is extremely engrossing, if I might add. It pulls you in and never lets go. I'm concerned about Isaac, curious about Nicole, intrigued about Unitology, and interested in the origins of the necromorphs and the Marker. It's fantastic!

And besides the story, everything about the game worked. There was nothing that had me saying, "Oh, well, I wish they would have done this." Everything worked, and it was new and exciting. They took risks with this game, and they paid off fantastically. The dismemberment system is awesome, and the integrated HUD had me totally absorbed into the action. This game was pure win from the moment Isaac stepped off the shuttle to the surprise ending. Simply put, it was fucking awesome!

If you didn't care to read the text above, at least take this piece of advice:

BUY DEAD SPACE AND BEAT IT, AND PREORDER TWO!!!! NOW!!!!!

Simple enough, no?:D

Maybe it was just me, but the actual narrative within the first Deadspace really disappointed me. I thought the backstory was awesome and the pre-game stuff was great with the motion comics, etc. But the narrative within the game seemed severely cut back, with the focus almost entirely on action and shooting and the story/ mythos on the backburner for most of the game.

Sure there were short clips of audio or things to read, but I just felt the story was much more compelling prior to the game's release and then when I started playing it just seemed sort of like a generic corridor shooter with things jumping out and not enough story to draw me in. I wanted to see a few more cutscenes and more about the relic .. guess with such a strong focus on story prior to the game's release, I just found myself underwhelmed to be honest.

An example of a game I enjoyed where the narrative came first would be the original Bioshock, though even that wasn't perfect (especially the ending ... but it was a great ride to that point).

I am a big fan of S/H games, mainly Resident Evil. I'll try to keep this rant short. Ever since Resident Evil 4 no RE game has had any element of S/H. Enemies dropping ammo and money, upgradeable guns, etc etc. It has turned more into a 3rd Person shooter with semi-poor control scheme. Then I played Dead Space and I felt it was everything I wanted RE4 to be.

I went into Dead Space knowing nothing about it, I got it when it came out based solely on the recommendation of a friend. I got it on PS3 and eventually platinumed it. Then I got my 360 and decided to trade my PS3 copy for a 360 so I could get some gamer score and play a game I enjoyed a great deal. Dead Space is the only game I have played at least 5 times in total in less then a year and completed every single part of the game on both platforms. I felt the game was even better on Impossible mode due to it being more S/H.

I cannot wait for Dead Space 2, my only regret is that I chose to get the normal version when amazon listed it for $50 and I added it to my ECA 30% off order and when they announced the CE I wanted to replace it (to get it for $56 instead of $35) but they wouldn't do it for some reason.
WGAF what you think?
Why do you care when we buy it, then? We're called CAGs for a reason. You're on a deals forum, obviously, we have no problem waiting a couple months for a sale then snatching it up for half the launch price.

There's a difference between a cheap ass gamer and a broke ass gamer. I don't care when you buy it I'm saying this game is worth the price on the day it comes out.. I'm on here to find deals not wait for a game to drop. Things like getting a $20 dollar game credit for preordering a game... getting a free game when preordering another one...etc. I'm here for deals not depreciation. anyways like the guy wrote above in huge letters haha.. next

All PS3 versions at launch will ship with extraction, even if you don't pre-order it. After a certain time, the "Limited Edition" will likely be replaced with a standard edition that doesn't include extraction (a la Bad Company 2, Medal of Honor, etc..)

Dead Space Extraction should be included with all "Limited Edition" PS3 copies (i.e. all copies at launch) regardless if you pre-ordered or not. This will likely be replaced with a Standard edition without extraction included since they plan to sell it separately on PSN as well.

That's all well and good, and I usually agree with the sentiment. However, I have to ask... if you plan on buying this game in a few months for half price, what in God's name are you doing in a thread that's about preordering the game? Just trolling?

Proof? Pretty sure this is utter BS. That'd be like Fable 3 being $20 now.

I think you may be trolling, and are maybe just a little upset from the last argument. You statement makes absolutely no sense. Unless DS came out in '07.

Not sure when Dead Space dropped to $20, BUT just figured I'd say that Fable 3 Collectors Edition is $30 at every Best Buy (that has it in stock) so....it's not that absurd to consider the game itself $20 and the bonus stuff $10.

you can't put CEs as part of the equation if they are hard to find.

At one point, you could get God of War III LE for $20 while the regular game was hanging on at like 35.

Whoever keeps saying you get "Extraction" with the collector's edition is wrong. It does not come in the collector's edition. You can get "Ignition" if you preorder either regular or collector's edition though. I read this here and went back to the Dead Space 2 page and it has an unboxing that tells exactly what you get with close up pics and detail.. check the link that the site gives to their Facebook page that shows all in detail

And furthermore Dead Space was not $20 anytime near after it came out. There's no point in saying it is unless you can prove it. I can however say that I checked prices on this periodically for quite a while on it for a friend to grab it at a deal which I did last year 2009

Taken from Amazon:
 • Dead Space 2 game for PlayStation 3 (PlayStation Move compatible).
 • Isaac Clark's collectible replica Plasma Cutter. Plasma Cutter is modeled from the new design in Dead Space 2 and features trigger activated LED lights.
 • The Dead Space 2 Original Soundtrack. Soundtrack features an hour of music compiled from the score of Dead Space 2 and a scoring of the Dead Space 2 featurette.
 • Rare lithograph depicting Necromorph transformation concept art by Visceral Games artist Brett Marting.
 • Isaac Unitology Suit and accompanying Force Gun in-game items. Each offer unique advantages to the player when used in Dead Space 2.

Since we KNOW Dead Space 2 is not going to use the Move and the only part of Dead Space 2 that will ever use the Move is Extraction I think amazon answers the question about if the CE comes with it or not.

EDIT:

Oh AND THIS (which you used to back up your "facts"):
http://www.facebook.com/deadspace?v=app_103530053019199

It states "The Dead Space 2 Collector's Editions is available on XBOX 360 PlayStation 3 and PC. The PlayStation 3 version includes the critically acclaimed Dead Space Extraction with PlayStation Move compatibility."

I was under the impression that only the PS3 Collector's edition would have Extraction included. Maybe that is where some of the confusion is coming from. (since technically the thread is about the PC version)
