Here is a list of all the known games on Amazon that come with a gift card or gaming credit. If the Amazon price decreases between your order time and the end of the day of the release date, you'll receive the lowest price. Release date delivery is available on many of these titles, which is free for Amazon Prime members.

The status of these offers fluctuates. Please read the details on the Amazon product page before ordering.

Amazon Credit & GC Deals FAQ by Lucian[hiddenlist]

1. What is Amazon game credit? How is it different than a gift card?
Amazon game credit is a discount off a new order only. This means it cannot be applied to an existing order, unlike a gift card that can be applied at any time. Occasionally, a CAG will report that customer service applied a game credit balance to an existing order, but this is extremely YMMV.

In addition, game credits can only be used on gaming items. This generally includes all games and accessories for consoles, handhelds, and PC shipped and sold by Amazon. Credits usually cannot be used on systems (either console or handheld). As far as digital content is concerned:
- Xbox Live codes sent via email - No
- Xbox Live physical points cards - Yes
- PSN codes sent via email - Yes (confirmed by grantme 7/3/2011)
- PSN physical wallet cards - Yes (someone please confirm via PM)
- PC game downloads - Not sure (someone please advise via PM)

2. What about the expiration date? Does this mean I can't use it on a preorder that releases after the expiration date?
The expiration date is the date by which a qualifying order must be placed. The order does not need to ship by that date; however, if you cancel the order after the the credit expires, it is gone and cannot be recovered.

3. Can I stack game credit?
Yes, you can stack game credit to your heart's content. However, remember that each game credit has an expiration date and must be used prior to the expiration date. Currently, Amazon does not provide information on your credit balance through their website, so either track it yourself or call customer service for assistance.

4. When will I get my game credit or gift card?
The exact timeframe is specified on the product page in the section detailing the game credit, but it is usually 2 business days. The game credit or gift card will be deposited into your account and you should receive an email notification once that occurs. Of course, it is possible for email delivery failure, so you can check your account depending on the type of bonus:
- Gift card - Go to your account and check your gift card balance
- Game credit - See FAQ #9 below 'How can I check my credit balance?'

Please wait the expected time frame before contacting customer service asking for your credit.

5. Can I use game credit and gift cards on the same order?
Yes.

6. I want to order two (2) copies of Newborn Ninja Assassins 2 because of the $15 game credit. Will I get $30 in credit?
No. Game credit offers are limited to 1 per household per title, so you will only receive 1 game credit.

7. What if I order one (1) copy of Newborn Ninja Assassins 2 for PS3 and one (1) copy for Xbox 360? Will I get 2 game game credits now?
No. CAGs have reported only receiving 1 credit per title even though the titles are for different platforms (i.e., have different SKUs).

8. A credit was just added to a game that I already had preordered. Do I need to cancel my order to qualify for the credit?
No. To date, all game credit promotions have had verbiage indicating that This offer will be extended to all existing pre-orders.. To be 'safe', you may want to get a screenshot of the promotion as proof should you need to contact customer service after the game ships.

9. How can I check my credit balance?
Place a preorder for any title to see how much promotional credit is applied. Cancel the order and the promotional credit will be released back to your account as long as it has not yet expired.

Also, Amazon recently added the ability to view your balance on the MP3 download screen. Go to any MP3 download page and look for a blue splat with a $ in it; it's right below the purchase button. Click the link next to the blue splat that says 'Redeem a gift card or promotion code & view balance' and a pop-up will display available credit. Videogame credits will display under the category 'SOFTWARE/VIDEO GAMES', but may contain credit applicable only to software downloads.

Other Amazon-related questions

1. Why does my order say the estimated ship date is a week after release?
Amazon prioritizes shipping for Prime members and those who paid for shipping over those taking advantage of their Free Super Saver Shipping (FSSS) option. Sometimes this means that a preorder will not ship for a few days after release, though I've never had an order take as long as they estimate. I expect their estimates accomplish 2 things:
- It covers their worst case scenario backlog and makes you feel better when it ships earlier than estimated.
- It's a nice marketing ploy to get you to either pay for shipping or sign-up for Amazon Prime.

2. My Amazon Prime or Prime trial is going to expire in a few days. What happens to my existing orders or preorders?
Amazon Prime (whether a full membership or a trial) applies to all orders placed during the Prime membership period. This means that if you preorder an item that ships months after your Prime expires, that order will still be covered under your Prime benefits (i.e., free standard or 2-day shipping and sometimes release-date delivery). If an item becomes eligible for Release Date Delivery (RDD) and you already have it preordered with 2-day shipping, it will automatically be upgraded to RDD even if your Prime has since expired. However, if you need to change the payment method (e.g., if your credit card has expired) on an order after your Prime has expired, your Prime benefits on that order will be lost. In this situation, you can apply a gift card balance without affecting Prime benefits.

Oh crap! You're right! Good thing I have my pre-order locked in :bouncy:

Looks like Walmart no longer has the $20 dollar credit gift card now either. Maybe thats why Amazon took its away. I refuse to order it without that credit now :(

Walmart takes down the Black Ops credit, Amazon follows. Walmart adds a $20 credit to Fable 3 Limited Edition, Amazon DOES NOT follow. I can't handle this!!

I wonder if or when Amazon starts matching K-Mart deals. I know they're not on the same level as a Wal-Mart, or even NewEgg, but you never know.

All this makes using their trade-in site useless if they can't keep offering good deals on games.

Didn't Amazon match Kmarts $20 on Castlevania?

Oh crap, I was considering ordering the PS3 version of Black Ops as well too. I know it's gone now but say I had a copy preordered for 360 and one for PS3, would I have gotten two credits? It's supposed to be one credit per game per account but since this is two different platforms and thus two different SKUs you should get two separate credits, right?
I don't think you would. The FAQ at the bottom of the first post says no i believe.
Most have reported that same title across platforms won't get you 2 credits, but others have reported getting multiple credits when ordering different versions of Modern Warfare 2 (standard vs prestige, for example).

Bottom line is that it seems to be YMMV and if you don't get multiple credits, it could be a tough sell with customer service considering the 1 per household verbiage...

hmm im curious, does anyone know how NOT to apply game credit towards your next amazon purchase?Example, i have $10 credit from KH:BBS and im trying to preorder reach but i dont want to use my $10 credit on reach(it applies automatically in checkout), is there a way to remove that credit?

You can click on change payment type on the final screen. It will take you to another screen that gives you an option to uncheck the promotional credit.

Ah, thank you kind sir. i hope to stack plethoras of game credit :)

damn, i was hoping that the epic mickey collector's would have some kind of g/c deal...i guess i'll finally use my stockpile of gamestop gift cards on this.

I emailed Amazon support to see what they said. I also mentioned how I wouldn't buy it without that credit (I probably won't) and how I was waiting for Tuesday to use the Reach credit and I'll just have to live disappointed.

I doubt it works if it isn't a mistake but it's worth a shot right?

The reply I got was basically automated. That they cant discuss details on their promotions.

Fantastic...I guess worst case, I could trade in MW2 for 20 bucks and it would be the same thing and iI lose a game I wouldn't play after BO comes out...I would be CODless until November but I could manage with Reach

Wow I'm actually surprised they really removed the credit for Black Ops. Good thing I didn't follow my initial idea to pre-order right before the release date :D

Does that mean that we still get the $20 if we have it preordered before it was removed? I just checked the pre-order that I made few weeks back and the $20 is gone from that as well..

You'll still end up getting it I'm sure as long as you ordered while it had the credit.

Looks like walmart removed the $20 credit and Amazon followed suit. But I have a feeling it will be back before release.

The response that came back from Amazon was to the effect of we have promotional plans for that title but I can't tell you what.

That could mean (not in email btw)

A) Goes to 10 bucks
B) 20 gets put back
C) Nothing gets put back and I'm just SOL in a big way
Have they ever removed preorder credit from a game before?
Not that I know of, sometimes credits would drop off due to error I think and put back up.

When Alan Wake's credit went away I emailed them and they said it was due to error, this time I emailed them they wouldn't tell me anything.
Have they ever removed preorder credit from a game before?
Usually its the day of or day before a game is released. Never a month early.
Wait, can we just blame Activision for being greedy assholes in this case? It works with everything else.
They would want Amazon to offer credit because it means more games sold. Activision gets the same amount of money regardless if Amazon offers a credit or not.

Removed the credit for Guilty Party and marked COD: BO with a GONE? (09/10/10) marker. If it doesn't come back in about a week's time, consider it gone.

Amazon does note "Amazon reserves the right to change or terminate this promotion at any time.", so they have the right to pull the promotion. I've only seen them do it a couple of times in the past, though it's normally just a mistake and it comes back a few days later. I've never seen them pull one this early and have it never come back.

I contacted them about my invoice stating that my order qualified for the CoD: BO credit and they told me that the credit is no longer available on that game and gave me the usual "reserves the right" line. Granted, I'm sure if I argued it enough, or someone else got my complaint they could possibly do something else since I never see any consistency when it comes to their customer service.

Needless to say... I cancelled my order and will wait to see what other deals will pop up, heck we still have like 2 months until it's released so anything is possible.

Might be a good suggestion for others as well.

Perhaps we can do one better, Shrike. I'd propose we spoiler a screenshot of the promo next to the title on the list. Is that something CAG can host here or would we need to make a image hosting account somewhere? It may not be the best solution, since I'm no guru on how the CAG forums work but it's an idea. Granted someone would need to maintain it and it seems Cheapy is busy reviewing how to stalk Japanese schoolgirls. . .

i've actually been doing this for every game i preorder, just in case a situation arises with the credit. i currently have 4 amazon screencaps because of this

I've got a screen shot of the Black Ops deal for Xbox (when it dropped to $49.99) if it's necessary.

Also, if you receive emails from Amazon when you place an order you've already got a record of it. In the emails they send it tells you when the order qualifies for a credit.

I'm starting to wonder if I should cancel Reach from Amazon and order it at Best Buy. I've applied a 10 dollar credit to Reach and if I can still use that on something else (like MS points since I'll need maps eventually), then I'm wondering if I should cancel and preorder from Best Buy and get the 20 dollar gift card (does the 10 dollar card for gamer reward zone stack on that?). Or do I take the chance that Black Ops goes back on credit with Amazon...I mean I doubt other companies have the credit for Black Ops if Amazon doesn't....choices

Always Kmart. I bet they'll do at least a $20 Gaming Coupon for it.

right but I'm talking walmart, best buy or wherever I cna get a credit for Reach as well (didn't see it on kmart.com)

This BO deal is either Amazon with a giant FU to everyone who was gonna use Reach credits on BO (I'm assuming so) or a mistake and it will be up in a few days.

I'm leaning towards taking the chance of it going back up but I don't know

actually its just them matching walmart.
kind of annoying how they pick and choose which games they will match with walmart, and take days/weeks to start the promotion, but then they take it down within a day of walmart taking it down.

I just ordered Halo: Reach and can confirm that the credit is listed in the email. No need for everyone to start saving screen-caps.

it's the Black Ops one people are talking about I believe...could be wrong

I love Amazon....I just called customer service to check on whether the 10 dollar credit I used on Reach would be lost if I cancelled Reach (to get it at Best Buy because I could get 30 from there with reward zone) and they ended up giving me a 10 dollar credit anyway whether I cancelled or not. That way if I did, and it didn't get credited back, I would have 10 dollars and if it did, I would have 20.

Well, I'm gonna keep Reach from Amazon with release date delivery for 50 bucks plus I get a 30 dollar credit now. Totally didn't plan it that way and wasn't trying to get that. Then I'll trade in MW2 since I won't play it after I get BO and I'll get BO for about 10 bucks....And to think I ever doubted Amazon cared about us customers

I used the screen cap before on another issue I had trying to get another credit and even then they didn't care... Like the T.O.A say, they can pull the promo anytime they want or change it... Just shady in my opinion and sadly enough this isn't the first shady issue I've had with them, I was really hoping that was a one time issue after all of the great experiences I've had with them.

They did the same thing with Monster Hunter Tri if I remember correctly, they removed it then put it back then removed it again. It was an odd week.
