Here is a list of all the known games on Amazon that come with a gift card or gaming credit. If the Amazon price decreases between your order time and the end of the day of the release date, you'll receive the lowest price. Release date delivery is available on many of these titles, which is free for Amazon Prime members.

The status of these offers fluctuates. Please read the details on the Amazon product page before ordering.

Amazon Credit & GC Deals FAQ by Lucian[hiddenlist]

1. What is Amazon game credit? How is it different than a gift card?
Amazon game credit is a discount off a new order only. This means it cannot be applied to an existing order, unlike a gift card that can be applied at any time. Occasionally, a CAG will report that customer service applied a game credit balance to an existing order, but this is extremely YMMV.

In addition, game credits can only be used on gaming items. This generally includes all games and accessories for consoles, handhelds, and PC shipped and sold by Amazon. Credits usually cannot be used on systems (either console or handheld). As far as digital content is concerned:
- Xbox Live codes sent via email - No
- Xbox Live physical points cards - Yes
- PSN codes sent via email - Yes (confirmed by grantme 7/3/2011)
- PSN physical wallet cards - Yes (someone please confirm via PM)
- PC game downloads - Not sure (someone please advise via PM)

2. What about the expiration date? Does this mean I can't use it on a preorder that releases after the expiration date?
The expiration date is the date by which a qualifying order must be placed. The order does not need to ship by that date; however, if you cancel the order after the the credit expires, it is gone and cannot be recovered.

3. Can I stack game credit?
Yes, you can stack game credit to your heart's content. However, remember that each game credit has an expiration date and must be used prior to the expiration date. Currently, Amazon does not provide information on your credit balance through their website, so either track it yourself or call customer service for assistance.

4. When will I get my game credit or gift card?
The exact timeframe is specified on the product page in the section detailing the game credit, but it is usually 2 business days. The game credit or gift card will be deposited into your account and you should receive an email notification once that occurs. Of course, it is possible for email delivery failure, so you can check your account depending on the type of bonus:
- Gift card - Go to your account and check your gift card balance
- Game credit - See FAQ #9 below 'How can I check my credit balance?'

Please wait the expected time frame before contacting customer service asking for your credit.

5. Can I use game credit and gift cards on the same order?
Yes.

6. I want to order two (2) copies of Newborn Ninja Assassins 2 because of the $15 game credit. Will I get $30 in credit?
No. Game credit offers are limited to 1 per household per title, so you will only receive 1 game credit.

7. What if I order one (1) copy of Newborn Ninja Assassins 2 for PS3 and one (1) copy for Xbox 360? Will I get 2 game game credits now?
No. CAGs have reported only receiving 1 credit per title even though the titles are for different platforms (i.e., have different SKUs).

8. A credit was just added to a game that I already had preordered. Do I need to cancel my order to qualify for the credit?
No. To date, all game credit promotions have had verbiage indicating that This offer will be extended to all existing pre-orders.. To be 'safe', you may want to get a screenshot of the promotion as proof should you need to contact customer service after the game ships.

9. How can I check my credit balance?
Place a preorder for any title to see how much promotional credit is applied. Cancel the order and the promotional credit will be released back to your account as long as it has not yet expired.

Also, Amazon recently added the ability to view your balance on the MP3 download screen. Go to any MP3 download page and look for a blue splat with a $ in it; it's right below the purchase button. Click the link next to the blue splat that says 'Redeem a gift card or promotion code & view balance' and a pop-up will display available credit. Videogame credits will display under the category 'SOFTWARE/VIDEO GAMES', but may contain credit applicable only to software downloads.

Other Amazon-related questions

1. Why does my order say the estimated ship date is a week after release?
Amazon prioritizes shipping for Prime members and those who paid for shipping over those taking advantage of their Free Super Saver Shipping (FSSS) option. Sometimes this means that a preorder will not ship for a few days after release, though I've never had an order take as long as they estimate. I expect their estimates accomplish 2 things:
- It covers their worst case scenario backlog and makes you feel better when it ships earlier than estimated.
- It's a nice marketing ploy to get you to either pay for shipping or sign-up for Amazon Prime.

2. My Amazon Prime or Prime trial is going to expire in a few days. What happens to my existing orders or preorders?
Amazon Prime (whether a full membership or a trial) applies to all orders placed during the Prime membership period. This means that if you preorder an item that ships months after your Prime expires, that order will still be covered under your Prime benefits (i.e., free standard or 2-day shipping and sometimes release-date delivery). If an item becomes eligible for Release Date Delivery (RDD) and you already have it preordered with 2-day shipping, it will automatically be upgraded to RDD even if your Prime has since expired. However, if you need to change the payment method (e.g., if your credit card has expired) on an order after your Prime has expired, your Prime benefits on that order will be lost. In this situation, you can apply a gift card balance without affecting Prime benefits.

I sent Amazon an e-mail and this is the respond I got:

Hello,

If your order was placed within the promotion period and then the promotion was not listed on our website, you're still eligible for this promotion.

As advertised, we'll send your promotional certificate to your account balance withing 2 business of the order ships.

Since your order meets all of the terms and conditions for the offer, you'll receive your promotional certificate by November 10. If you don't receive it by then, please let us know by going to the URL below:
Come on amazon, $20 credit on fable 3 CE and i'll be a happy man...
Same. I don't want to but ill go to walmart dammit, I will!!

Man. I've been telling myself that I just need to preorder games from Amazon right off the bat and cancel if a better offer presents itself. I never thought they'd pull the credit on CoD Black Ops, and certainly never this early! I can only hope K-Mart has a killer deal on it.

I don't know if it's been posted, but I contacted Amazon, and they said that they'll still honor the $20 credit with COD Black Ops since I pre-ordered it while they were offering it.

Yeah this Black Ops situation is BS. I just got an email from them basically saying "too bad". I was going to preorder it, but only after I got credit from several games in October. Definitely not going to get the game if they keep the credit off, at least not from Amazon.

So if I already preordered Black Ops when the credit was there, I still get it, right? Will I have to email and fight for it? Also, can I add the $20 halo credit to my pre existing Black Ops preorder?

You should still get it if you ordered when it was offered. If you want to add a credit to an existing order you'd have to contact Amazon CS and ask them to do it manually.

I emailed asking if I had preordered Black Ops on two different systems during the promo period, if I would have gotten both credits and this is the response I got:

WAT

I'm going back and taking screen shots of all my pending preorders right now, I only did it for a handful "just in case" but that's because I haven't had issues before. Now I'm making sure because this is bullshit if I don't get it.

On top of that, he didn't answer my question. =P

Edit: Crap, the $10 promo offer is missing from Dead Rising 2's page now. Argh! Got all my other screenshots though, I think. Did Fallout New Vegas ever have an offer? Just for the standard edition and just on consoles. Nevermind!

Fallout New Vegas had a $10 promotion on it.

Only the regular edition console versions had a promo, the PC version, which I ordered, never did.

Anyone have a screenshot of the Dead Rising 2 promo?

Dead Rising still has a credit on it.

Man I wish I preordered DR2 at $48. Oh well it'll be on ebay for like 40 bucks around release day. But I'm going to wait for it to go to like $25. Capcom games tend to drop fast.

I don't have the knowledge to determine this, but I preordered GT5 Collectors and noticed that there is no $10 credit currently. From past history, do you think there will be in the future. I can't recall what happened with other games...like MW2. I remember there being pre-order gaming credits, but I can't remember if it was on all versions.
As much as I would like the collectors version, if there is a $10 credit for a future purchase, effectively making the purchase $49.99. I'd rather do that. I am going to use my Sony Rewards points anyways, which will make either purchase free (for the regular version) or around $30 (for the collector's version). But I have a problem with offering a credit for just one version of the same game...its principle at that point.

The good this is, that the preorder bonus won't go away so I can just wait it out and see what happens.

See, that's why I love this thread. If you're not sure, you can always check the first post since the new ones are updated and the old ones are archived. In response to your GT5 question, the $10 credit only applies to the standard edition of the game, not the collector's. Sorry. =(

They better but the Black Ops credit back up. I live near a Kmart and they have been rocking the release date deals recently.

Your move, Amazon.

man after ECA i really have no reason to buy games at Amazon, I've hardly shopped on their site this year. they really need some better deals.

Lower prices than competitors, $10-20 credits towards future purchases and release date delivery for $1 aren't good enough for you? Granted, they do seem to be slacking a little in being the leader of deals and just seem to match now but I think your statement's a little out there. To each his own, right?

Kmart seems to be a giant leap ahead of them atm for deals. And they stopped having lower prices than competitors for the most part, games are now full retail price instead of $3-4 off initially.

I cancelled my Black OPs Preorder yesterday to put the credit towards halo reach. I was planning on using the new $20 Halo reach credit towards COD Black Ops. So much for that brilliant idea. I'm really kicking myself now. Thanks Amazon, I'm buying the black ops hardened edition somewhere else now i guess.

You should have kept the preorder and asked customer service to apply it to the order after you had the credit sitting in your account.

Then I would have had to pay $80 cash for the Halo Limited Edition instead of $80 credit, which I can't afford. It's complicated, but I learned my lesson not to assume those $20 deals will be on there forever. It just sucks because I play COD like 20 hours total every week and I play halo about 15 hours total once a year.

Just looked through my Amazon orders. Looks like my Black Ops preorder completely disappeared from when it was 49 bucks + 20 dollar credit a month or so ago. Fun shit.

I know how to use the front page. My question wasn't what version the credit is on, or if it is available on the collector's edition. It's clear that its only on the standard edition only at the moment.
My question is more about, what has happened in the past, and can we expect a credit to come on the collectors edition.
I remember when MW2 came out, there was a credit "war" between vendors, but what I can't remember is if it was first for the regular version, and then was extended to the limited editions. I unfortunately don't have the historical data which is why I put the question out there.

Make 100% sure by clicking "open orders" instead of that big button that says "Your Orders." Maybe it got pushed down and it's not showing because it was ordered so long ago.
Wow that sucks :| A ton of people got pissed off after the $20 credit got pulled.
I guess I'm not the only one. I'm thinking I'm going to cancel my halo limited edition preorder from amazon because I was planning on using that $20 from halo for COD. Those $20 game credits don't expire for a long long time tho, do they?

I bet that amazon brings back the $20 credit for Black Ops. They're still going to want to compete with Walmart, Kmart, and everyone else that will be offering some sort of credit.

Damn, I missed out on the 20 credit for Black Ops. I was waiting to hopefully use my 20 dollar credit from Halo Reach on it. I hope they bring it back before it ships. Have they ever brought back a credit after taking it down for a while?

OK here we go again with Amazon.

Did anybody's Halo Reach ship yet? I swear to fucking god, if they pull the same bullshit that they did with Metroid and ship it out on the release date, I will return that shit and bitch at every CS that I can get a hold of.

Amazon... slowly turning into the Dell of online shopping stores :(

I can still cancel my order but that's normal for me anyway. I dont usually get my stuff shipped until the day before.

Yeah I said the same thing with Metroid. Then I waited to see the shipping notice on that Monday. Nothing. It wasn't shipped until release date afternoon, which doesn't really qualify for release date delivery.

in almost all cases amazon wont ship RDD until monday. personally i usually get the shipped email around 11pm on mon, and have never missed release day personally.

I've gone to bed around midnight on Monday without a notice that a release date delivery game had been shipped yet, only to wake up and find out that it is out for delivery.

Amazon can make it work. But they can also be lazy sometimes.

All my Release Date Delivery stuff ships the afternoon the day before Release Date. So if it should be here Tuesday, I've had it ship late Monday afternoon or even Monday evening. It always arrives the next day. Never a single fail for me.

Anyone have a screenshot of when the $20 promotion was up for Black Ops (preferably 360 version)? I see the one for the hardened edition above but not for the regular edition.
