hey whats the cut off point to decide if we want in or not ? A week before release ? Because I'd be in if this was region free and had English audio options for the movie and bonus features....
 
I would imagine the cut off is when all spots are filled. I personally am waiting to see if another Steelbook is announced, like from Futureshop or, God willing, some retailer actually in the U.S. Or at the very least confirmation on whether or not this one will have English subs and be region free.

i went to my fye this afternoon after work (rockaway, NJ) and the sales manager said that "they were not expecting to get blu-ray steelbooks for the dark knight"....

it's still kind of early in the game... and the not-so-definitive-or-confident answer leaves some hope that the US steelbooks will materialize...

for those interested they did advertise/accept preorders for the DVD steelbook... but it just looked the the regular DVD cover in steel-form, nothing too special

I went to FYE today to trade in some games and the good manager at this store confirmed the existence of the BR steelbook. It's in that release binder they have. No details, just a single line item entry.

However, he told me the picture of the steelbook wasn't attached to the notification email so he's not sure what it looks like or even if there will be 3 different covers.

I'm not terribly crazy about the German Joker cover above though.
 
So what's so special about the Steelbook version? What's the difference between the regular Blu-ray release? I'm really looking forward to the Dark Knight but I don't know what version I'm supposed to be running out for on release day. =P

I just got off the phone with my local FYE. The woman said there is in fact 3 bluray steelbooks coming. She said the price was $21.99. I even said "are you sure that's the price for the bluray, and she said yes. I'll head there Saturday to preorder all 3 and let everyone know how its goes.

With that price, I'm still a bit worried she was confusing it with dvd. With some FYE employees, I really wouldn't doubt it lol
 
For those who have never seen a Steelbook, they are extremely nice. I have the DMC4 CE, and they case is simply gorgeous. If there truly is a Dark Knight SB for the Blu-ray in the states, I will be all over it.

I'd be shocked. I'd be happy with the current pricing of about $25 on release week. That's what my guy guessed.
 
Maybe the employee thought steelbook ment blu-ray?

If this is true then im going to have to drive down to fye and pre order a copy. Did anyone else have any luck yet?
 
I was at my local FYE today and they had an advertisement standee promoting the steelbook. I preordered the Joker version and had the employee right which version on the receipt.

I don't think I've ever seen any of their steelbook exclusives online.
 
I believe the pre orders for the FYE's in the USA have the blu ray steelbook for reserve.

Im going to canada tuesday to see what the big deal is.. probably reserve a few depending on the distance.

The FYE I went to @ Woodbridge Mall in NJ today told me:

Dark Knight DVD Steelbook - Yes (There were signs everywhere for it)
Dark Knight Blu-Ray Steelbook - No (I had to ask the dude at the desk)
