gotcha. no worries though :)
Yep, I did the same.

I already had gift card credit. So if I buy an MP3 it won't use my earlier regular gift card balance before the new mp3 credit, will it?
Does anyone know how to see how much promotional credit they have on their account?
I sent an email to CS about $5 credit from Big Kahuna Reef.

Events:

1) I download/order Big Kahuna Reef
2) I email CS
3) I get MP3 Credit around this time.
4) CS replies stating that I will receive a code for a $5 GC in the next 2 - 3 days.

Are they keeping touch on me, and going to send a code in 2-3 days, or are they just stating the guidelines of the MP3 credit?

Should I reply to another CS representative in 2 - 3 days if I don't receive a $5 GC?

Thanks for that! I checked my balance and realized I have only received credit for 2 out of my last 5 game purchases. I emailed customer service to inquire about my credit for these other games.

You're welcome, hopefully someone knows the answer to my question I posted earlier. Also, did anyone buy any MP3's yet, what did you get?
the fine print says one per purchase, I dont see anything about per order, might not be seeing it though.
"Promotional offer limited to one Amazon MP3 promotional credit or code perpurchase."
That's what I explained to them, how it's different from the language in their other promos which are 1 per order, customer, household. No go. I didn't want to argue any more. I hardly buy music downloads anyway, I still like having CDs around. ;)

I bought the new Third Eye Blind album, Ursa Major http://www.amazon.com/Ursa-Major/dp/B002LFRXFC/

I received one code (for Wii Sports Resort) and am still waiting on one (Madden 2010). I will give it a few more days and then contact amazon about it.

With the second credit I am thinking of waiting to see what Septembers $5 deals are or else use it on Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here or Animals.

Sweet thanks for the Big Kahuna Reef info. I had previously bought this months ago at home when they offered it free, but I figured out how to rebuy it on my work pc and I got the free MP3 credit they are currently offering.

I won't post how to rebuy it on here, but I'm sure one of you will figure it out, post it here and at SD and FW, and everyone will exploit it to pieces with no shame. :nottalking:

Is anyone else getting grief from Amazon about the MP3 credits? I purchased 6 items so far and have only received 2 credits. I sent several emails and then they made me call. They keep telling me it's one per person, but keep quoting one per purchase. And won't give me the credits.

Yes I was having trouble too. So I took someone else's advice and made one long email to Amazon's customer service.

I wrote something like:

I recently made several purchases offering a $5 Promotional MP3 credit. I only received the credit for 2 of my 4 recent eligible purchases.

I got the $5 MP3 promotional credit for these:
###
###
I did NOT get the $5 MP3 promotional credit for these:
###
###

I would like the missing credit please.

Thank you,
OJ Simpson

I never got a response, but I checked my balance this morning and had all the free MP3 credit in my account I was missing.

Got shot down on the credits as well. Got 1 credit automatically from Wii Sports Resort , but when emailed about credits on my other recent purchases was told that it was 1 credit per account and was told to "in the future , read the fine print more carefully".:wall:

That sucks. To update my post above as promised, I now have $80 of MP3 credits in my account. I think that covers my orders and more.

I'd try again. Maybe you got the rare clueless Amazon rep or maybe one having a bad day? There is no fine print that limits it like that is there?

I already shot them back a reply email looking for more clarification , and arguing that the application of the promo seems intentionally vague.

Well I got my response from my second email and was shot down again. They basically told me there was no way they could give me the credit since it is one per customer. They also implied that if others are getting "extra" credit then that is wrong and that other customer service reps are just giving out freebies.:bomb:

I'm done arguing about it. It wasn't that big of a deal to me , I just thought that I wasn't getting something I was owed , but apparently not.

I also only got one credit for multiple games. Checking the original terms in the OP, it doesn't mention one per customer, but now they changed the terms to say this:

Promotional offer limited to one promotional credit per customer.

Well, the tip about showing your promotional balance works but it is very confusing as it just adds the value of your MP3's into your total credit balance. I should say it is confusing if you have Amazon credit (like from the video game trade-in program). However, if you go to your account and view your gift card balance you can see what your actual credit amount is. Mine is exactly $5 less than my "promotional balance" which works out since I have gotten one confirmation of the $5 MP3 credit being applied (though I have other orders I would think it would have worked with too).

And yes, J7, I can verify that it uses your promotional MP3 credit before the gift card/trade-in credit if that is what you are worried about. I also got the $5 worth of MP3s on my wife's account and have also done some trading with that account. I've bought 2 99 cent MP3s and my "promotional balance" is exactly $3.02 more than my gift card balance, which is as it should be if it is using the MP3 credit first.

So, wait, are they claiming that the $5 MP3 promo is supposed to only be given out ONCE no matter how many separate game orders you make? Or are people just saying they only get one per order no matter how many games are in that order (which is not nearly as bad)? I have a lot of orders coming in over the next month and it will suck if I don't get another MP3 credit after the one I just got. I mean, they weren't really a factor in the purchase but it was a nice benefit.

Edit - Well, I just "bought" Big Kahuna Reef and instantly got another $5 MP3 promo credit email. I checked my balance and I have $10 more than my gift card balance. So apparently you can get more than 1 promo credit so hopefully it continues to be at least one per order which is fine with me. If I get another $5 from one of my other recently shipped orders then I'm all over that Who's Next Deluxe Edition CD. I have the original CD of that from way back (when it first came out on CD - I'm sure I have the record somewhere too ;)). I didn't even know there was a deluxe (with what I gather are alternate versions of many of the songs) till I started poking around looking for things to spend this credit on.

They have changed the offer details now to one per customer. But, I placed several orders last week and they will not honor the offer. I have the original text saved on my computer and it said one per purchase.

Really disappointed with Amazon on this one. I don't have a problem that they changed the offer, but to not honor it for earlier purchases is very wrong.

The bolded is exactly what I was saying. The Customer service reps (rep? no idea if it was the same one or not) said that the offer only applies to each customer/account 1 time. I never tried "buying" Big Kahuna Reef to see if I would get a second credit that way, but seeing as how the terms of the deal have been actually changed , it probably wouldn't work now.

If the terms were like that from the very beginning , I wouldn't be so bothered , but it's annoying that it's been unevenly handled. When some (most?) people are getting multiple credits , and others like myself only get 1 , it seems just a tad unfair. But oh well , I've probably gotten in on my fair share of deals that others didn't so I guess this was one of those times I wasn't set to be lucky.

Well, I bought a cassette adapter a few weeks back and got the $5 credit pretty quickly. Got the Big Kahuna Reef earlier today, got another $5 credit right after. So I got $10 total, and I checked before I got BKR and after and saw the credit applied.

I just "bought" Big Kahuna Reef on my wife's account and got the $5 MP3 promo there as well. So at least I got $10 worth of MP3s from this free game. Sucks, though, that my 3 other recently shipped orders don't appear to be getting the credit as they were made when it was supposed to be one per transaction.

Sweet. Thanks for checking on that.

Bullshit is what this is. I had thought--mistakenly, I see--that Amazon is above this sort of bush-league nonsense. If it helps, Google's cached version of the terms of this promotion doesn't have the one-per-customer limit.

If you call customer service, don't let the rep "resolve" the issue by sending an e-mail to the marketing department. That's just a smokescreen to end the call. It's within the rep's ability to issue a general credit on the spot.

You are pissed because you cannot scam amazon.com? WTF dude...

If anyone cares, and I'm sure you've seen it, but...Coldplay's Viva La Vida Prospekt's March album is only $2.99 today.

That's over 20 songs for $3. Great effin deal for $3 of your free $5 for anyone who appreciates Coldplay, like myself :D
You are pissed because you cannot scam amazon.com? WTF dude...
It's not a scam if you ordered when the promo said one per transaction and not per person. That's called bait-and-switch on Amazon's part.

Having said that, I'm not sure I'll bother calling - just doesn't seem worth the hassle.

I'm confused by all the versions. Does this one have the regular versions on the first disc or is it some remixed stuff?

This is the original Viva La Vida, which has like 15 or so songs, PLUS the little 8 song Prospekts March EP which includes a few remixes and unreleased stuff.

Both are great!

EDIT: oops, 10 songs on the first CD, but a few go past like 6 mins, so they're pretty lengthy..and one is actually 2 songs labeled as 1
You are pissed because you cannot scam amazon.com? WTF dude...
The word "scam" does not mean what you seem to think it means. Yeah, I'm pissed, because Amazon could have automatically issued a credit for each qualifying purchase pursuant to the original terms of the promotion, which stated a limit of one credit per purchase. Instead, Amazon applied the promotion differently than the terms stated by issuing only one credit per customer and then changing the terms of the promotion to match. I don't appreciate having to call customer service to force Amazon to honor the terms that were in effect at the time of purchase.

I find it amusing that you accuse me of scamming, considering that when the customer service rep offered me a credit, I pointed out that I was owed $5 less than what she offered and asked for the lower amount, because I had been awarded the credit once.

I didn't get credit for my most recent order (360 wireless controller) so I just fired off an email. I've already gotten $20 worth of credits, but I placed this last order before they changed the terms so I feel like I should still be eligible for it. We'll see what they say. I included a link to the cached version of the promotion terms that doesn't include the "one per customer" line.

Does anyone have a link to the terms for this deal before they changed it to one per customer? I think I saw somewhere in here that there is a website that has a screen shot of this.

Just pull up a cached version from Google. I included the link in my email to Amazon.

They just got back to me and said they would apply $5 promotional credit to my account good towards my next purchase. Beats $5 MP3 credit any day!

Very good deal.

Does anyone have a screen shot of the deal where it said 1 per purchase? I was trying to find a cached version on google but couldn't. I would like to have this as proof when I sent them an e-mail. I have about 6 different purchases that should be getting this credit and I would like the credit.

Google the URL you want and then at the bottom of the correct search result next to the URL there's a link that says "Cached".
