F.A.Q.S.:

1. Does the game I'm buying from Amazon Activate on Steam/Origin/Uplay? What DRM does the game use?

There are two places to identify DRM on a digital video game detail page:

At the top of the page, below the title:

In the "Product Description" section:

2. Note on Electronic Arts Games - For the most part, EA games sold on Amazon do not activate on Steam. Most activate on Origin.

3. Note on DRM with limited activations:

Our Policy

4. Sometimes I'll do giveaways.

5. I work with developers and publishers to get fun (or at least what I think is fun) content to share with you all. Here are some examples:

a. Check out the Pax Gameplay videos here: Xcom: Enemy Unknown I played Xcom with Jake, the Creative Director for the game, a few months before the game came out Also, on this page, check out the Q&A, also a community driven event.

b. Check out the interview on this page: Borderlands 2 we did this interview at E3 with Randy Pitchford this year.

c. We've partnered with the ++GoodGames Podcast to feature many of the games we carry. They talk to the developers about the game development process, how the games are conceptualized and managed, all kinds of fun stuff. I'm working on putting together full link list and will update when I have it.

What else do we sell?
What if I've been unintentionally farming dozens of promo credits due Tony and Amazon DVG doing a bang up job on deals? I blame them both for me getting everything I want! lol
No, you need to buy all the $0.50 Darksiders 2 DLC! But yeah, the codes come pretty easy. I have five and haven't really made any major purchases.
Lego LOTR and Scribblenauts are going active at 00:00 PST tonight right?
More or less. Maybe not exactly on the dot but probably sometime within the hour after or so midnight PST.

Alright probably can get them in the morning then :)

I guess it's the 75% off discount so fast. As crazy as it sounds a $5 price point would probably be a no brainer for me. When you hit that $7.50 mark my brain says... 'wait a minute that's getting closer to $10!'

I am buying Scribs and Lego LoTR at the stroke of midnight or whenever that price flips because those are new releases and honestly, Tony look away :p
that price is nuts
.

I'm also a bit concerned they may run out of keys at those prices.

Lego stuff is sort of interesting to me but nothing I had my eye on. Great prices but just a matter of balancing my desire versus my backlog.

I keep telling myself I should be better about that but then I go  ZOMG crazy deal MUST BUY! *click*

Yeah, I have a problem.

I'm with you on this, I've been wanting both of these quite a bit.

Uh-oh. Claims of "super awesome" worry me. Did I buy something that's now going to be cheaper? Do I have enough left in my cheque account? Will I miss it when I'm out?

+1 im buying Lego LOTR and Scribblenauts as well

I'm the same way at this point in the season. I can't justify buying something two days befo -- wait, hang on:

/opens tab to LEGO Lord of the Rings page on Amazon

Sorry, where was I?

/sets reminder alarm for midnight spamming of F5 to buy LEGO Lord of the Rings

I've never played a Scribblenauts game and am unsure whether it's my style of game. I have watched the WTF is on it, but I'm not sure. The 75% off so quickly (before it's even released in some regions) makes me think it's not great and will drop further. Still tempted, but some anecdotal evidence would help to sway me either way.
+1 im buying Lego LOTR and Scribblenauts as well
Me too. Is it sad that I'm a grown ass man and this is the most exciting deal of the sale.

Apparently the Wii U version of Scribblenauts is $60 and hasn't been going on sale at all. I've seen some people at various spots on the net lamenting that and being jealous of our PC deals. And this was when the PC Scribblenauts went down to $20.

The reason for Scribblenauts being discounted so quickly is likely not because of quality but because of bad PR, similar to Lego LOTR (Which had a clusterfuck of a PC release). The nonsensical delay of the game in the EU has tainted the release a bit and doing things like having a massive discount might help with word of mouth a bit.

i really did not like scribblenauts on iphone is scribblenauts unlimited significantly different?

I think im deffinately gonna bite on lego lord of the rings maybe lego batman 2 also
Lego stuff is sort of interesting to me but nothing I had my eye on. Great prices but just a matter of balancing my desire versus my backlog.
I am used to playing Lego games in coop on the Wi and then trading them off for the latest incarnation. Not sure I can break this pattern even at a great price for a digital version. Anything spectacular in PC versions that would make me change my mind?

I'm anxiously waiting to get lego LoTR and scribblenauts, same as alot of other people :bouncy: so glad i held off getting it on steam! As for ppl who are curious about scribblenauts, I'd recommend it for the price point! I got it for free on iOS when starbucks had those free codes and thought it was pretty unique. It's a nice time killer game haha
I cannot recommend Scribblenauts enough. Wonderful game. And integration with steam workshop... just perfect!
Oh yeah I forgot about the Steam Workshop integration. That's awesome. Most developers would have been lazy and just done the minimal effort to port the game to the PC considering that the PC is generally not the top grossing platform.

I give them credit for making the extra effort not only for Steamworks integration with achievements and cloud save but then to add Workshop even on top of that.

I have way too many coupons, but only because I was hoarding APB promos. At first I was all worried about having enough coupons, so I bought games like Xeno Clash and Dig Dug. Two weeks later it's like... okay, I have 10+ coupons and I may use them on Hotline Miami and TWD.

Unless the EC list gets a lot bigger, I think I'll have a lot of coupons going to waste. Unless of course Hotline Miami hits $5 and I can buy a bazillion of them to give to friends. >_

i have a feeling a big barrier to matching flash deals is they probably don't have the resources to keep deals up for just 12 hours every 6 hours

at least thats the only reason i can think of
especially since plenty of daily deals are better than plenty of flash deals

Considering how long it takes them to normally do a price match I'd imagine most flash deals would be over or close to over by the time they flipped the price.

*edit: Ninja'ed

But seriously, people think of Amazon as this huge monolithic entity with a huge amount of resources but there are divisions in it where there's a relatively small crew of people running that entire division and they don't have unlimited resources and staffing available to them.
Still can't decide and haven't gotten a suggestion. Which do you ladies and gents think is better, the 2K Shooter or Desert to Sea bundle?
oh DEFINITELY the desert to sea bundle
spec ops the line is absolutely amazing
fantastic story
duke nukem is significantly worse than everyone makes it sound and borderlands is good but quite old now
Still can't decide and haven't gotten a suggestion. Which do you ladies and gents think is better, the 2K Shooter or Desert to Sea bundle?
Personally...I'd have to be paid to finish playing Duke Nukem. So, yeah, read into that what you will.

Borderlands isn't dated at all, and considerably cheaper than Borderlands 2. $5 + all of the DLC is an amazing amount of gameplay. It's a spectacular game. Buy it, play through it, and by the time you finish everything, Borderlands 2 will be WAY cheaper.

i just meant that since borderlands is older i think spec ops the line is a better deal for the same price
since we can all agree duke nukem is completely wothless and a piece of your soul may even die just knowing that you own it
Yeah I wasn't considering Duke Nukem lmao, but I didn't imagine it to be that bad. For me it was down to Borderlands or Spec Ops.
Both are good, but I don't think it's really fair to compare them. Spec Ops has a pretty gritty story, but it you're a loot drop fan, Borderlands all the way.

Edit: And I tend to agree with Idiotekque, in his outlook on Borderlands. To me it doesn't feel dated at all and still love playing it. I guess that makes me biased?

I'd agree too, but Spec Ops doesn't come with countless hours of DLC... It's a one through game that you can finish in a handful of hours and have little reason to ever play again. Borderlands offers 100+ hours of gameplay and massive replayability.

Spec Ops does have an awesome story, but it's like you're watching a movie. You watch (play) it, it's over, and you move on with your life. Plus there isn't a sequel.

I absolutely loved spec ops the line and thought it was a good length for the type of game it is
and i wasn't the biggest fan of borderlands one, thought it got repetitive and I like the sequel a lot more (especially because I didnt think the first was that funny but find the second hysterical)
so Im gonna say its definitely a personal preference thing
there is no doubt that borderlands will last longer

I just wish they would have let Duke Nukem drift into vaporware. Seeing what 'ol Duke had turned into was almost as bad as Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.
Weird question considering what the game looks like, but what kind of specs do you need to have to run Scribblenauts?
• OS: Windows XP or higher
 • Processor: AMD Atholon 64 X2 Dual-Core 4000+ or better / Intel Core 2 Duo Processor 2.0GHz or better
 • Memory: 2 GB RAM
 • Graphics: ATI X1800 or better / nVidia 7800 or better / Intel 4100 or better. 256MB Video RAM. Shader 3.0 or better
 • DirectX®: 9.0c

So chances are that you can run it just fine.

I liked that one but the other two.. ugh guy that played Anakin killed it for me

The specs are nothing too out of the way, but unsurprisingly like a lot of games it does not seem to work well with integrated Intel graphics from what I have read.

There's more talk about it from the developer here:

Do you meet system requirements?
Hi Everyone,

We’re getting a ton of support e-mails from people that don’t meet minimum requirements to play Scribblenauts Unlimited. I’ve decided to create a short tutorial on how you can check for yourself if you can run Scribblenauts.

CPU:

1. Open a run command (windows+R)
2. Type in: dxdiag

It should start up in the system tab. Take a look at the ‘Processor’ on this tab. Make sure that it has at least 2 CPUs and it’s at least 2GHz. You won’t be able to run Scribblenauts if your system is under this specification.

Video Card:

Navigate to the ‘Display 1’ tab in the DXDiag (just one tab over from the systems tab when we checked your CPU). Take a look at the ‘Name’ under ‘Device’. The numbering scheme for video cards is actually confusing since an Nvidia 7800 is actually worse than an Nvidia GeForce 670 even though it has a bigger number. I’ll keep updating the list but we’ve been seeing a lot of these video cards that don’t meet minimum requirements:

Intel(R) G33/G31 Express Chipset Family
Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family

yeah they claim they are making a sequel and the game really wasnt even made by gearbox so maybe a good duke nukem sequel will rise out of the pits of hell where duke nukem forever is right now

I guess I'm going with the 2K Shooter Pack, want to eventually play Borderlands 2, too. Guess I'll have to pay someone to take my Duke Nukem key off my hands

I have played both Borderlands games and I have to say that Borderlands 2 is totally worth full price. As a CAG, however, if you're looking to maximize a small game budget, Borderlands 1 is still one hell of a great game. The sequel does everything even better, but I always felt that Borderlands already was a solid game overall to begin with.
