F.A.Q.S.:

1. Does the game I'm buying from Amazon Activate on Steam/Origin/Uplay? What DRM does the game use?

There are two places to identify DRM on a digital video game detail page:

At the top of the page, below the title:

16hm7a8.png

In the "Product Description" section:

r06ykl.jpg

2. Note on Electronic Arts Games - For the most part, EA games sold on Amazon do not activate on Steam. Most activate on Origin.

3. Note on DRM with limited activations:

Our Policy

4. Sometimes I'll do giveaways.

5. I work with developers and publishers to get fun (or at least what I think is fun) content to share with you all. Here are some examples:

a. Check out the Pax Gameplay videos here: Xcom: Enemy Unknown I played Xcom with Jake, the Creative Director for the game, a few months before the game came out Also, on this page, check out the Q&A, also a community driven event.

b. Check out the interview on this page: Borderlands 2 we did this interview at E3 with Randy Pitchford this year.

c. We've partnered with the ++GoodGames Podcast to feature many of the games we carry. They talk to the developers about the game development process, how the games are conceptualized and managed, all kinds of fun stuff. I'm working on putting together full link list and will update when I have it.

What else do we sell?

Xbox Live Points and Subscriptions:

1600 Microsoft Live Points
4000 Microsoft Live Points
12 Month XBOX Live Subscription
3 Month XBOX Live Subscription]
12 Month + 1 XBOX Live Subscription
Gamefly is going to have it for a dollar less (with coupon)....and if amazon charges tax in your area its an even greater savings..PLUS you dont have to wait for it to ship. Digital Download...just grab the key from gamefly and plug it in Steam
Aww man you're gonna make me wanna take a sale from Tony and then he might get fired and then I'll never get Skyrim for a low price :(

Edit:

Just checked Gamefly's Black Friday they're gonna have Skyrim for $30 plus the 20% off OMG finally!

*reaches into pants and remove small calibur pistol he keeps near his balls for safety and starts firing wildly into the air to celebrate*

Are we to assume (yes dangerous), unless otherwise noted, these games are DRM free? I'm mostly looking at Beyond Good and Evil, Indigo Prophecy, Test Drive Unlimited 2, maybe the Call of Duties.

Gamefly is going to have Skyrim for like 24 dollars after coupon too...besides it not taking a sale from Tony....they dont offer Skyrim or Dishonred on PCDD.

Think Tony is only in-charge of Digital sales -- if anything it'll just put more pressure on Amazon brass to negotiate a deal to carry Bethesda titles digitally.

Newly updated. List of sale games which activate on STEAM. Posted at NeoGAF, credit to Xelios.

100% confirmed Steam keys according to Amazon pages -- WORK IN PROGRESS. Civilization Mac codes give you the Windows version as well -- CONFIRMED. If a game is MAC and activates on Steam you will get the Windows version as well in almost all cases. Thanks to Isaccard for the early heads up on the links so I could get started.

Bought the SEGA Genesis Classics, Sega Action Only Pack and Dreamcast Pack to later find out most aren't redeemable on Steam. The only reason I bought the Sega Action Pack was because of Condemned...
The only reason I bought the Sega Action Pack was because of Condemned...

You paid $20 to get Condemned when it's $15 on steam?
Aw man. I was excited about Beyond Good & Evil and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Call of Pripyat. I checked before purchasing both that they were on Steam, but I guess I should have checked the actual product page, because BG&E doesn't even come with a product key and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. isn't redeemable on Steam.
So is BG&E DRM-free as far as you can tell?
Hey Tony can you spill the beans on the Max Payne 3 PCDD deal?
THIS!
I wanna know when Max Payne 3 + Season Pass PC download is coming & what it's gonna cost!
You paid $20 to get Condemned when it's $15 on steam?
Well, it was the main reason. I also wanted it for Vikings, Hell Yeah and Binary Domain.

2. Need for Speed Most Wanted - $19.99 - 11/23 and 11/26
3. Battlefield 3 Premium Edition - $29.99 - 11/23 and 11/26

^
so just those 2 days only? or 11/23-11/26?
Well, it was the main reason. I also wanted it for Vikings, Hell Yeah and Binary Domain.
You can't go wrong w/ Binary Domain - that game's awesome!

EDIT:
Also, you could hop on Steam and add BG&E as a Non-Steam Game.
It's an OLD game, so I doubt it'll be getting any updates, anytime soon...
{shrug}

I have an extra prototype pack that my friend already had but i bought for...

Anyways anyone want to trade it for binary domain? Pm thanks!
Well, it was the main reason. I also wanted it for Vikings, Hell Yeah and Binary Domain.
Well at least those activate on Steam.
where? oh: walmart. oh.
Dishonored will also be $25 on PC with the Amazon console lightning deals on Thursday I think. Boxed copy of course but it is Steamworks.

Tony any chances for a Borderlands pack and Civilization IV complete edition?!

Btw is it possible to add digital games to a wishlist?

$20 for NFS:MW 2012 sounds awesome. I was checking into the current state of the performance issues. As far as I can tell people are still experiencing severe performance issues. If you have a new enough rig, it seems like you can lock it to 30FPS and have a good experience. (Unfortunately my GTX 260 is well short of those rigs.) The good news is that it looks like EA/Criterion is looking into the performance issues. NeoGAF thread. EA Thread.

People please buy darksouls when its 15 dollars.

PC master race, wants next dark souls on PC from THE START. Let from software know PC market is a viable platform for them to support!

15 DOLLARS. FOR DARKSOULS. COME ON PEOPLE!

But, what if we already bought Dark Souls: PTD when it was $20 on Amazon DVG?
:p ;)

EDIT:
Technically, it was a birthday present for me...I didn't pay a penny for it. :p

DSFix from Durante fixed MOST of my PC concerns, thankfully...

of the stuff that should be in the big list, the big outlier missing is probably Civ 5. not just the game itself per se, $12.49 for GOTY has been done before, it's the expansion. Gods and Kings for $7.49 is a pretty big deal compared to the rest of the stuff it's buried inside of.

Binary Domain for $9 is also pretty awesome. you undercut that price at last!
Sonic Generations for $7.49 is... i believe only the second time that's happened. first was back in March for apparently no logical reason.

lastly, and this is just a personal peeve, why is the Sega Genesis Classics Pack 5 NEVER on these lists? ...or on discount, for that matter. 1-4 are and get that $1.87 price point. the 5th one, which is fairly recent, is included in the Pack bundle (same as last time) yet... it's $7.49 there. and it's not on the list either. i just find that weird. sad too as apart from 4 it's the only one that's REALLY worth getting (Phantasy Star IV and Streets of Rage 3).
DSFix from Durante fixed MOST of my PC concerns, thankfully...
Main concern is controls. I know it's a native console game but if you're going to port something then having good M+K functionality is part and parcel with that.

Hmmm, thinking about picking up Dark Souls, but I already have it for PS3. (About 1/3 - 1/2 through first playthrough.) Worth it? Someone convince me...

Personally I've never understood the need to 'double dip' (as they say). Only reason I'd say you'd have to get it is if they don't offer/sell the added 'Prepare to Die' content on PS3.

hey anyone knows if I will be able to activate Inversion in Europe? I wish to get 2 copies, one for me and one for my friend. Cos I remember Inversion from gamestop was US only.
Main concern is controls. I know it's a native console game but if you're going to port something then having good M+K functionality is part and parcel with that.
This game does play great w/ a controller - namely, the X360 Controller.
I do understand what you're saying - as games on PC should work decently w/ a KB+mouse. I do agree w/ this.
Though, in the case a PC port isn't translated well - you really should have a gamepad. Especially since a lot more games are getting console-to-PC ports, you'll need it. PC is a multi-purpose device - and it should support both.
Also, there's some games - like platform-heavy games (think Tomb Raider series and Assassin's Creed series); brawlers (Street Fighter series, MK series); many sports games (NBA2K series; FIFA series) - they just play better w/ a gamepad.
And if you do already own a X360 already and you have a USB-based X360 controller - then there's really no excuse for not plugging into your PC's USB port.

Though, w/ DSFix Mod for Dark Souls PTD (PC) - you can bump high-resolutions and more graphical features.
Also, you can bump up other graphical bells & whistles on your video card's software (NVidia Panel or ATI Panel), as well - granted you have a PC that can handle the game you're throwing at it.

Yeah, I'm not normally interested in doubling up, but my PS3 version is vanilla. And I've been slowly transitioning from console back to PC, though the PC benefits of this title seem marginal.

It's more of an issue of me being and older dude who last used a controller with a PS1 (and even then sparingly). So it has more to do with muscle memory and being able to comfortably use it rather than a philosophical difference. Basic platformers that just make use of the D-pad and a few buttons I can handle. Re: those other games mentioned, I don't really play stuff like that. Dark Souls is appealing because it's a rare example of a seriously difficulty ARPG released within the last decade or so.

And if you do already own a X360 already...

As a card carrying member of the PC master race I would never sully myself by owning one of those abominations! :lol:

-Dark souls with the mod 1080p 60 frames per second. Its glorious. Its delicious. It looks beautiful.

-The DLC just released not too long ago on the consoles for 15 bucks. This is the game and the dlc included.

-Supporting master race. :p

What a amazing deal for Sims 3 Seasons, game just came out this Tuesday and already 50% off I was in shock seeing the price so low so soon. Thank you to whoever worked out that deal, Tony or whoever at the amazon department.

I had no problem w/ StarForce activation DRM for The Precursors (From Gamersgate) - once I actually got my key from GG, since everybody ordered the hell out of it last time it went on sale! :p
But, any StarForce Disc-Based DRM is awful - stay AWAY from it!
That used to install OS-specific drivers (so if they don't updated drivers or remove DRM-check in a patch, it might NOT run on future OS's just b/c of that);
actually spun the hell faster and slower out of your disc-drive and tried to measure if disc was the "right size";
could cause disc-drive to be spun into non-existence;
could cause your disc to be shattered to pieces;
could force your OS to reboot if it couldn't pass the disc DRM check (even if your disc was in the drive!);
could cause some issues w/ security on Windows systems;
and all kinds of other insanity.
Weird, I heard they tried to do the same thing for digital download, spin your HDD platters to see if it was the correct mass. You see information is entropy in a higher energy state. Energy has mass. By knowing exactly the mass of your HDD platter before and after you installed the game the can determine the if it has the correct mass differential. Same caveats, may shatter your platter. Also, this doesn't work on SSDs. ^_~

Proper members of the PC Master Race are legally required to have gamepads. The official reason is to show the console peasants how inferior they are, "I'm not just PWNing you because of my KB/M; I PWN you with gamepad too." I hear some members of the PC Master Race will also use their gamepads for other uses, like racing games and platformers.

10. ME 1 + ME 2 + Dragon Age Origins: Ultimate + Dragon Age 2 - $14.99 - 11/23

Please tell me there will be Steam keys involved here!?

With sales at the time, yes. With each other, no. That is, you can't combine multiple coupons to get $10, $15, etc. off of one purchase.

It IS US/NA only. There is a way to activate it in other regions but I would NOT recommend that

This...
...Though, I'm sticking w/ 30 FPS b/c I'm playing online - not really up for chancing a G4WL/XBL Ban.

Also, DSFix supports high-res's [1920x1080 (1080p)]; all kinds of Ambient Occulsion (VSSAO, SCAO, HBCO); and some AA features (FXAA, SMAA);

EA games 99.9% will be origin exclusive.

Great deal...I usually dont get origin games cause im steam ocd, but that is one helluva deal. Dragon age easily one of my top 10 games this generation (Cant speak for DA2, ugh...)

Is the game "The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena -4.99" still a possibility? [it's listed on the first page of deals].

As of now it does not have a PC Download option.

Trying to figure out - are you joking w/ me or are you serious? Or a mixture of both?

The stuff I said about StarForce disc-DRM was meant to be a serious. That disc-based DRM is no joke.
Those are many of the reason people complained about it over the years and were throwing lawsuits Ubi's way; and hence why Ubi and many others dropped it.

Oh, yes - I forgot, I also use a gamepad for racers, too.
Add that to my list, some few posts back.

I already own Battlefield 3. Was thinking about buying all the DLC but since the complete package is going to be $29.99, I might as well buy that. Just curious, will my progress carry over or will I need to start from scratch?
