Pre-Order Borderlands 2 from us for 10% off and help me get a tattoo! Yes it activates on Steam!

I am a huge Borderlands 2 fan and I want this to be our best selling pre-order ever. So I've drawn a line in the sand. If, from now until launch, we take 40,000 more preorders than where we were on 7/2/2012 I will get a Borderlands tattoo on my back.

From what I can gather each game in the Rockstar Classics Pack has their own Steam code.

If this is the case if anyone is not planning on playing Bully: Scholarship Edition can I buy the Steam code off them?

PM me if interested. Thank you.

Also big thanks to you Tony for all your help! It looks like a fabulous sale! :)

man, so many of these sales are blasts from the past.
one thing i noticed though and i'm not sure if it was pointed out: The Rockstar Bundle has *Vice City* in it, not Vice City Stories. Stories was never released outside of PSP/PS2. though granted, the Rockstar pack will have some stiff competition when steam rolls around as in the past they've done a GTA collection for $7.50 and the two GTA games listed there were $2.50 apiece - putting the collection just strikes me as a way to force their hand to do it again.
Probably likely to get lost in the shuffle, but...

Tony, any thoughts on the recent ruling in Europe that consumers have the right to resell their digital software purchases? I know that won't happen here as American law isn't as consumer-friendly as it is in Europe, but still, international sellers like Amazon, Steam, Origin and the like will have to no doubt address that if the ruling stands, no?
European Law is not a field i know much about. But i would be surprised if Steam or Origin changes. It would just be to difficult to change and it defeats one of the major reasons why publishers love Digital, all game sold are new. If it does change it could kill deep discounts.

US Amazon only sells to American customers. Amazon DE sells digital games to Germans, so you'd have to ask them.
Steam will of course have to think about it. Then again, Valve have in the past ignored laws quite freely. So shrug.
I think what Tony/Amazon is doing well here is that they are keeping us informed and updated with what's coming up, planned and sharing why they do things the way they do. This makes Amazon really hard in general to compete with and why so many of their competitors are going out of business. It's not always just the prices neither since we'd probably all agree that Best Buy is pretty crappy in terms of service/knowledge in addition to the bad prices there.

With all the posts about the Steam summer sale, would it really hurt Steam to just come out and say, no, we won't have a sale or the sale is delayed this year to this date because of "..." or that.

Just seems like a lack of care/concern or simply not caring to me, a small customer.
To the best of my knowledge, Amazon is the only digital-download retailer giving advance notice of sales. Most DD retailers (and most retailers in most markets everywhere) refuse to give advance notice, because they don't want to dry up sales between "now" and the sale's start date. Amazon is rocking the boat a bit, probably because their market share lags so far behind the leaders.

But even AMZN is not advertising "upcoming sales" on the site itself; they're just promoting the sales in a few quieter corners of the Internet. Rank-and-file shoppers who visit the Fall of the Samurai page today won't have any inkling that it's going on sale tomorrow. So even with Tony giving us CAGs the scoop, mainstream Amazon is still hedging its bets by not being completely open about upcoming sales.

Amazon wants to increase its market share. In other arenas, it's shown a willingness to run at break-even or a slight loss in order to build traffic. By providing some eye-opening sales, and giving advance notice of them, Tony is following the Amazon blueprint to get its name into the conversation. We're pretty clearly the beneficiaries of that philosophy right now; enjoy it while it lasts, but don't expect it to last forever.

As for Steam: I'd put the odds of a "2012 Summer Sale" somewhere north of 99%. We don't know when it will happen, but it's almost certainly going to happen. (And I really don't think it's been "delayed"; they just chose a later set of dates than they've done in the past couple years.) Some of the eventual Steam deals could very well beat Amazon's sales; I guess we'll find out soon whether Amazon has refined its price-matching models enough to go toe-to-toe with Steam's daily sales.

Speaking of el diablo, here I am.

And not to step on Tony's digital toes, but damn amazon is having the BEST mp3 sale right now. .99 cent digital albums, I've bought like 10.

Hey, Tony I just noticed something about GTA 4 and related content. You have Grand Theft Auto 4 discounted 50% to $9 with optional Steam code. Then you have GTA4 Complete at 50% to $14 with no Steam option.

What I'm looking for is GTA 4: Episodes From Liberty City. It's the exact same price as the Complete($14) and also has no Steam option either.

Is this an overlook or will these be adjusted later? Isn't it a mistake that GTA4 Complete is the same price as Episodes from Liberty City?

Good question.

We couldn't get the GTA4 complete Steam bundle working, which is why it got left out of this sale.

Sorry man :(.

Cheers,
Tony

@TONY

I just want to tell you, I'm looking forward to your deals on:
Binary Domain ($10) AND
The Two KOA: Reckoning DLC's ($5 each; $10 in total).
Can't wait for those to flip. :D

That is all, for now...

Keep them deals coming! :D

No biggie. I own the Steam version of the base GTA4 and was worried about incompatibility issues. I guess EfLC is one game I'll have to get on Steam-only.

Still enjoying the sale. Can't wait to see what the next batch of deals are.

I really want to bite on that Dragon Age deal, but I'm a bit uncertain about Origin. Does anyone know how much involvement Origin has with this deal, and if it's worth buying regardless?

Tony,

Sorry I keep bugging you about this, but I think I am getting lost in the shuffle because you have not been able to respond.

Any word on a sale for Dawn of Discovery Gold anytime soon?

Thanks for the great deals!

Origin isn't the devil others would lead you to believe. It works like Steam, but not as good. People just hate EA. I say take the plunge. I use both origin and steam and have zero issues.

Yes, it's great, picked up like 7 albums. But I'm kinda irked, as they only link to the "regular" version of Perry's album from the sale page, and I didn't find out that there was an explicit version, also on sale, until it was too late. As far as I can see, there's no selector dealy like games have to select the "version," and they don't link to other versions on the product page. Puzzlingly poor of Amazon there.

Is Origin absolutely necessary in order to run the two games? I really don't want to bother with Origin since I've already got Steam. Are there any problems with installation? Sorry if I'm sounding stupid, I'm not really computer-savvy.

It's not required to run them. You don't even need Origin at all for those games.. but you do need an Origin account.

I'm interested in Dawn of Discovery Gold as well, hopefully there would be a sale on this game soon.

true, I was very apprehensive about Origin games to begin with back when Mirror's Edge and Alice: Madness Returns were in a Femme Fatale pack at Amazon. I bite on the Dragon Age Origins:Ultimate pack when it was first put up. I hate the Origin Client, and dealing with their website, however, you don't have to deal with the client being open to run the games, and don't have to deal with the website at all. Not the pain in the ass I thought it would be. Give it a shot, for the cost of entry, you really can't go wrong. Also, the Dragon Age Games don't have the install limit like others do, so there isn't that headache either, and no SecuROM either. If you are willing to get your feet wet on an Origin game, now's the time. the DLC requires making a BioWare account, but that was painless. The DLC is actually already downed with the main game from Amazon, it just ask you for your BioWare login (auto-logging in thereafter upon boot) and validates it. it then pops up in the menus.

Me 3 on Dawn of Discovery Gold if Ubisoft is willing to take the DRM out. I'm not dealing with Tages, even with Amazon's guarantee of reissuing keys if necessary.

Sorry guys I know you keep asking about Dawn of Discovery and I keep ignoring you :(.

We won't have an intentional Ubisoft sale until August.

Cheers,
Tony

That is odd. I skipped out on the Katy Perry, but I did buy 11 of the 20 offered. 3 were explicit versions so I don't know what happened with the Perry CD.

I know that early in the day the sale was only for $1.99 albums and I had bought 1, I chatted with CS and they processed a 1 refund right away. I'm sure if you chat with them they will let you "exchange" it for the version you want.

So unintentional = agressive price matching a certain expected summer sale?

Tony,
No Problem! Thanks for the transparency!

I kinda assumed it might be a little while before it could happen since it was Ubisoft....
So unintentional = agressive price matching a certain expected summer sale?
Except that Dawn of Discovery isn't on there on anymore so no price match that way. But maybe Gamestop or Gamefly, who knows?

Is there an easier way to load up your Amazon balance online other than buying a digital giftcard and emailing it to yourself? Seems like there should be but I can't find it.
Except that Dawn of Discovery isn't on there on anymore so no price match that way. But maybe Gamestop or Gamefly, who knows?
Hasn't Tony in the past said price matching Ubisoft is more or less a no-go a lot of the time anyway? I gotta imagine he meant something besides price matching.

EDIT: Note CIVCITY Rome is not Steam.
Aww man. That's the one that I don't have and would have actually gotten.

ETA: Checked and it's only in the full pack so I guess that one is not for me anyhow since I have 90% of what is in it. Good deal though.

I have already picked up Max Payne 3 and Spec Ops: The Line. Tony you keep putting together awesome deals and you guys have the best customer support. I used to go to steam first for my PC game purchases but I have shifted to amazon because of your dedication in this thread giving people feedback to all of their questions about these sales (as well as the awesome deals). But seriously hats off to you and your team working over there coming up with ridiculous sales (Spec Ops: The Line for half off in basically the first week of release!) and answering all of our questions in this thread. You are the man.

Also don't forget to get the hi-res texture packs (BioWare never did an "official" texture pack for Dragon Age Origins) here:

Origins/Awakening Hi-Res texture Pack:
http://dragonage.nexusmods.com/mods/15/
You'll need to reg an account to download, worth it.

For the following 2 links, you'll need that Bioware account neccessary for the DLC to activate that you, at this point would have already created.
Also get the patch for Witch Hunt, and the 1.05 patch for Origins while your at it here:

Dragon Age Origins/Awakening Patches:
http://social.bioware.com/page/da-patches

Dragon Age 2 Patches/Texture Pack:
http://social.bioware.com/page/da2-patches
The patches for DA 2 are on this page as well as BioWare's official texture pack all the way at the bottom of the page.

Thanks Tony, August is right around the corner, would love to see Anno 2070 included.

Is there any reason Sonic Generations is not part of the Sega stuff? Would not mind seeing that cheap. Know it has been in the past, but I didn't have much interest. Tried the demo recently and I liked it a lot more than I expected too.
