Hey CAGS,

I’ve got some news I’m both excited and sad to share with you at the same time. I’ll be leaving the Digital Video Games team in Mid-March to join the marketing team for Amazon.com’s Loyalty and Rewards program, Amazon Coins. My boss and I have talked extensively about how to maintain and continue our presence here and across the other communities we’ve created in the past couple of years. To that end I’d like to introduce you to Josh, who take over monitoring, updating, and responding to this thread. Josh will be ramping up over the next couple of weeks, he  will be posting shortly to introduce himself.

Now that the “what’s going on” part of the message is out of the way I want to tell you all how much I love CAG and the posters here. This was the first community I joined when I started this job (anyone still remember that first thread?) and all of you have had a huge hand in shaping how we think about and execute Community Development and Management here at Amazon, which has in turn shaped my career these last two and a half years.

I started to write out a section calling out the regular posters and realized the list would be both overly long and incomplete at the same time. Instead I’d like to thank you all again, you all have my deep and sincere gratitude. I’ll still be around and my gaming accounts aren’t going anywhere so feel free to hit me up anytime you want to chat. I’ll probably still hang out in the thread too :).

Thanks again everyone, let me or Josh know if you have any questions!

The Indie Store has launched!
Amazon.com is launching a storefront dedicated to supporting and promoting PC/Mac/Web-based Indie Games. Our Digital Video Games team is a small group of passionate gamers and we’re all really excited to help Indie developers reach more customers quickly by providing a quick and simple process for bringing their games to market. Additionally we’ll be supporting the Indie Store with a ton of promotions, both at and after launch. Many of these promotions are designed to give the developer the opportunity to maximize their revenue. For example, Amazon is forfeiting all royalties from bundle sales and passing them along directly to the developer, we’ve also created an “Indie Spotlight” program to help customers learn more about the games and developers they love. We view the Indie developers as some of the most creative in the industry and we want to help them continue to create new and innovative experience for customers.

Why we are doing this:

  • Allow customers to discover an entirely new category of games on Amazon.com
  • Help developers reach new customers quickly. Our onboarding process is straightforward and we want to sell every Indie game available
  • We want to leverage our strengths to support and help the developers who are driving forward innovation and creativity in the games industry
General Information

Hi CAGs,
I'll be posting deals we're running on Digital Games (PC/Mac, Free to Play, Sony/Microsoft Points/Subs).

I'm also here to answer questions you might have, get you closer to the developers by hosting Q&As, setting up podcasts, live streaming gameplay etc. If I don't respond to a question you have in thread please send me a PM. These ping my email address and make it more likely that I will see your question and respond more quickly.

Cheers,
Tony

FYI. EA Games sold by Amazon will not activate on Steam.
F.A.Q.S.:

1. Does the game I'm buying from Amazon Activate on Steam/Origin/Uplay? What DRM does the game use?

There are two places to identify DRM on a digital video game detail page:

At the top of the page, below the title:

16hm7a8.png

In the "Product Description" section:

r06ykl.jpg

2. Note on Electronic Arts Games - For the most part, EA games sold on Amazon do not activate on Steam. Most activate on Origin.

3. Note on DRM with limited activations:

Our Policy

4. Sometimes I'll do giveaways.

5. I work with developers and publishers to get fun (or at least what I think is fun) content to share with you all. Here are some examples:

a. Check out the Pax Gameplay videos here: Xcom: Enemy Unknown I played Xcom with Jake, the Creative Director for the game, a few months before the game came out Also, on this page, check out the Q&A, also a community driven event.

b. Check out the interview on this page: Borderlands 2 we did this interview at E3 with Randy Pitchford this year.

c. We've partnered with the ++GoodGames Podcast to feature many of the games we carry. They talk to the developers about the game development process, how the games are conceptualized and managed, all kinds of fun stuff. I'm working on putting together full link list and will update when I have it.

What else do we sell?

Xbox Live Points and Subscriptions:

1600 Microsoft Live Points
4000 Microsoft Live Points
12 Month XBOX Live Subscription
3 Month XBOX Live Subscription]
12 Month + 1 XBOX Live Subscription

PSN+ Subscriptions and PSN Points:

$20 PSN Points
$50 PSN Points
12 Month PSN+ Subscription
3 Month PSN+ Subscription

We also have a Free-2-Play store supported by our GameConnect technology. Gameconnect allows you to link your Amazon.com account with free-2-play and MMO accounts so that you can buy things like in game currency, premium game time/subscriptions, in game items, etc. on Amazon.com using your Amazon.com payment options and have this content delivered directly into your game.

5. Price Matching notes: Generally we do not match international retailers (GMG, Gamersgate, etc) or physical retailers (Best Buy, Newegg.com, etc.)
To check out the Free-2-Play games we offer you can visit our storefront here: Free-2-Play Store

I haven't seen anything so far that I'd call fantastic. That Freyja bundle was very good, but because a lot of us already had those games I wouldn't call it fantastic (. Some of those EA prices were good, but not fantastic. The 505 games were quite good, but once again, not fantastic.
Well yeah, subjectively speaking, you're correct - there's no arguing with personal opinion. Objectively speaking, however, brothers is supposed to be excellent, and unless it's bundled you will likely never see it cheaper than the 2.50 it was the other day. The Freyja bundle, objectively speaking, like I said, was insanity. I didn't buy it because I had most of the games, but if you were missing even half the games it was well worth the 8 dollars. If you somehow didn't have any...that's a fantastic deal.

But yeah these sales do suck…. oooooo snap.  Okay, they don't suck but, at best, they're just a hair better than the recent go around of Steam sales.

I got Marlow Briggs based on suggestions.
Hmm.. susceptible to suggestions. Noted!

Suggestion: Send me an Amazon Gift Card. :)

Now I'm curious..
Quoted so LN can see it ;)
OH! I see what you did there.

You know, I almost didn't post, since I didn't have anything really to contribute to the conversation.

But then after reading the last few pages, I realized that... neither does anybody else! XD

(That was a joke, thanks. And now I'm explaining that it was a joke, which makes it not as funny. Yet I still amuse myself, hurr hurr hurr! )

Most of us in this thread already own the majority of the EC games anyway. We probably wouldn't buy them at any price.

There is no impressing us.

Agreed w/ all of this, so far.

Lets be honest. EA prices were very 'ordinary' *still holds onto my two coupons*

Syndicate and Saboteur for $5 strikes me as better than ordinary. Unless they require me to fiddle with them to make them work correctly then possibly not. Saboteur really has me intrigued though.

In all likely hood I'll add them to my Origin account and them almost never open Origin like I have the habit of doing and forget they're in there. Here is hoping we get a link or something to the bundle tonight before I must sleep!

We have discussed issues w/ Saboteur, some few pages back. It's not super-friendly w/ AMD cards, even w/ Beta Patch 1.03 supposedly and driving might not work correctly.

About that bundle - decent deal. But, Saboteur's been in other cheap ADVG bundles and Syndicate's been real cheap on Gamersgate before. People might have both already.

EC hopes = Great Amazon deals five dollars cheaper

EC reality = Great Amazon deals

Thus why people can be both happy and disappointed at the same time.

Have either of those been mentioned to be on the list? Haven't seen them on the OP.

Metro Last Light for PC is $14.99 but its $39.99 to download. Amazon Fail.
No fail, if either is your price point, buy em, they both are simply a key to register on Steam.

The price for each is controlled by 2 different Amazon departments.

Note on it: it says it is by SE, but I am pretty sure even retail is done by deep silver (look at retail pic). Wats the deal with that?

Isn't the point of digital purchases supposed to reduce the cost it takes to create the product for selling and reduce the cost to the buyer in turn? So a physical copy of a game should be at a higher price point than a digital download...

Your telling me that the two departments don't communicate or work together? is this like the FBI and CIA and how they completely ignore each other and don't work with another. That's sad.

It would be a a good price point for me if it was a pre-coupon EC deal, maybe.

Except you have to physically house the disc version and may have incentive to move it out on a sale. Digital keys don't take up space in a warehouse.

The departments at Amazon are fairly autonomous which is sometimes an issue. Tony has mentioned that the DVG department intentionally doesn't have the "check your credit" feature that you find elsewhere because it doesn't work properly with DVG credit. But people keep using it from the MP3 section and wanting to know why it says they have $130 in video game credit. Likewise, some departments are more difficult to navigate than others. Supposedly, the Powers That Be are working to unify it somewhat although I'm sure there's advantages to the current system as well.

Well i wanted to know if anybody here played syndicate and the sabouter if the games are good enough to play. I saw some reviews/gameplays and i am more interested on syndicate.
Played Saboteur on the 360 to completion... Though a solid and good title its not one of the best games of this generation... Its just one of the most memorable. I don't say that lightly. Its one of those titles that managed to stand out from others due to its art style and also capitalize on it with solid game play. (There where a few things in game play that bugged me... but not enough to kill the fun.)

The open world is cool, its fun just blowing up Nazis and/or their equipment, and one can easily do this and not advance the story for hours on end. (and it can pay to do this as it can make some of the story mission easier too,) The story is also solid. Its got some nice set pieces too that are really memorable. Voice acting is also really solid. Liberating a section of the city (and surrounding countryside) and watching it go from black and white to pastel colors is really rewarding.

Its very much an underappreciated gem...

I don't know the price they are asking for it but I can imagine I would be hard pressed not to offer an recommendation on picking it up.

I spent 24 hours on it according to Raptr.

Greetings to all. I spent some time over the weekend sorting through some of my old bundles/keys and thought I would share a few extras that I had.  Good luck...

You are quite welcome.

The thanks' are coming in, it's just a slow night. That the keys are still up to be redeemed half an hour later shows that.

Tried the bulk of the orgin keys about half an hour ago and none of them would redeem... I suspect not many more thank yous are going to come in but I appreciate your generosity none of the less. :)

Sorry you missed out and I suspect you are right.

Of course I appreciate any and all gratitude, but when keys and links are openly posted I expect the majority to be lurked.

Maybe every once in a while a lurker will decide to actively participate. I was a lurker here for a long time and it was only when I redeemed an open key giveaway that I created an account here since I wanted to thank the giver (Sunasun). Que será, será.

The no map markers thing doesn't bother me too much, if I really have trouble finding something I could just look it up online. I've only had to do that once, though, since I started. It's more the lack of fast travel that bothers me. Between mark/recall and the silt striders and boats, it's not that bad though. It's more just in cities, especially in Vivec. Going from canton to canton in there gets to be a pain the ass. Having not started playing any video games until essentially 2008, playing a game w/out the modern easy copouts is a new experience for me.

I also love how alien Morrowind is. It makes it so much more unique than Skyrim/Oblivion's environments (although I liked those, as well). As for mods...I didn't want to feel like I was just playing a big skyrim or oblivion expansion, though, so I didn't download Skywind or Morroblivion. I got that Morrowind makeover version 3.0. Obviously it doesn't technically compare to Skyrim or Oblivion, but the upgrade still makes the game borderline beautiful in its own right.
For Vivec, Levitation. If you want to break Morrowind travel in fun ways, Jump and Fortify Athletics using the trademark Elder Scrolls effects crafting extremes (still pretty sure they're not exploits) those boots of speed which I forgot, in combination w/ slowfall/levitate and resist magicka, respectively. Just make sure your hard drive is as fast as it can be, you'll be loading a new zone every 1-2 seconds :) Beats Fast Travel any day, almost the difference between using a taxi vs. stealing a plane and chuting out of it in GTA or Just Cause 2.

why is Command and Conquer Ultimate Collection cannot use $5 coupon? :(
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009IR1SR0

edit:I just see this bundle is not in Editor's Choice 2013 T__T
It is supposed to be:

This just in, TSW for $11.99 precoupon will be back and C&C Ultimate will be $10 pre-coupon (so that $5 pricepoint post coupon).

Cheers,
Tony
I guess that's something else Tony has to work on (along with getting the Saboteur/Syndicate up and running.)

1/13-1/16 on Sabotuer pack :).

Cheers,
Tony
EDIT: I've sent Tony a PM about both of the above.
